Potash Corp (POT) Stock Analysis

By Tim - http://stockstobuy.org

The following is technical analysis on Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan, Inc. (POT) stock for November 11, 2010

Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan, Inc. (POT) Support & Resistance Levels - 11/11/10

Resistance Levels: $145, $153.19

Support Levels: $140, $138

http://stockcharts.com - Chart

Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan, Inc. (POT) continues to be a boring stock but hold that $140 level. Recently, BHP Billiton (BHP) was blocked by the Canadian Govenment to buy Potash Corp but POT didn't budge. This price action suggests the bottom is in and Potash might be able to move higher. Potash Corp will have resistance between $150-$153 and if the stock closes above this resistance area, it could be a big mover.

Potash Corp. POT Stock Analysis 2010

The following is technical analysis for Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan, Inc. (POT) - March 15, 2010

Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan, Inc. (POT) Support & Resistance Levels - 3/15/10

Resistance Levels: $126.36, $136.11, $145

Support Levels: $123.10, $120, $117.11

Discuss Stocks - http://stockstobuy.org

Shares of Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan, Inc. (POT) exploded to the upside on Friday after the company raised guidance. If you can remember, Potash Corp did not breakout with the stock market during the summer. The stock is basically flat from May 2009 until now. Having said that, this is why I feel there is big upside ahead for the rest of the year. Watch for a close above $126.36, when this happens, I believe POT will retest $136.11 resistance.

Stock Market Report 3/4/09 Wall Street Watch

This afternoon, March 4, 2009, the stock market is getting a lift due to Chinese stimulus package which helped give Asian markets a bounce overnight. Oil is is jumping because of this news as well. Oil prices touched $45 briefly this morning but is now trading at $43.77 per barrel.

Stocks to Watch - 3/4/09

DryShips ( DRYS ) - Drys stock is soaring today on an oversold bounce and the fact that it is finally trading back over the 10 day moving average ( $3.53 ) for the first time since a few days after it topped out in the $17's. This is something to watch very closely! DRYS could be getting ready to make an up move but the stock remains extremely risky. From what I can tell, earnings might come out 3/5/09 after the close. DRYS is expected to report 0.71 cents per share in earnings.

Potash ( POT ) - Potash has really stuck out to me today! It made a daily high this morning at $81.49 and then dropped like a rock starting just after 11am est. Longs better hope the 73.49 low holds or a retest of $70 could be coming soon. After $70, $65 must hold. Today is the first time in many months where you saw strength in the stock market but weakness in POT. Mosaic ( MOS ) is up a bunch today so whoever sold big this morning knows something!!!!

Wells Fargo ( WFC ) - This to me is the most important event which actually just started happening about an hour ago. Wells Fargo ( WFC ) stock has been getting hammered....almost like a hedge fund is attacking it on the short side. This has caused the overall stock market to get weaker. Keep an eye on this stock! WFC hit a high of $11.32 this morning but is now trading just above $9. Is WFC the next shoe to drop?

I updated the following technical anlaysis charts at http://blackberrystocks.com/charts.html

Technical Analysis Updates: February 6, 2009

Visa - V
Apple - AAPL
Dryships - Drys
Potash - POT

I will sneak in a little side note for the people who view my blog every day. I believe the stock market is rallying today due to the potential of the stimulus package, short covering, and possible change in mark to market accounting rule or a Timothy Geithner toxic asset purchase plan. The Dow has broken out of a trading range and could test the 50 day moving average next week around 8470.

This is a classic buy the rumor day which could extend into early next week, but I believe traders will sell the above news when it is released.

Oil markets: Oil is falling as the back month contract gets sold, and the front month contract comes in. This is effecting the USO in what it called Contango. I am waiting for the USO to close back over the 10 day moving average for a nice rip higher.

Potash POT Analysis 12/17/08 - Technical Analysis

The following is technical analysis for Potash ( POT ). The chart you see is from weeks ago before Potash first closed back over the 10 day moving average causing this huge move up in share price to $80 today. I will have a new POT Chart tonight showing this analysis but due to stockcharts.com regulations, you can't take snaps during trading hours.

Potash Technical Analysis December 17, 2008

As you can see, Potash closed back over the 10 day moving average several weeks ago just like previous times and exploded to the upside. It was important not to be early because there were several times where it almost closed over the 10 day, but failed, only to take out the previous lows. The bounce off of $47.54 was a huge up volume move and buyers were chasing Pot into the close. This was the signal that some of the shorts were starting to cover. The next day, we got confirmation of a close over $57 which was the 10 day moving average. While this was a huge $10 move in two days....it was just the beginning of Pot's move which has happened two other times in the past several months.

Potash has made a major move so I would be cautious about buying above $75. Pot has closed back over the 50 day moving which is very bullish, so pullbacks to the 10 day moving average should be bought. POT has resistance from $81.54 - $85 and if these levels are cleared the next major resistance level is the Election High of $94.98. Pot has support at the $70 level where it stalled before making this last move higher as well as the 10 day moving average which is at $65.37. The 10 day moving average will be moving higher each trading session that goes by so keep that in mind. $47.54 will turn out to be a long term bottom for Potash and we all know, as evident in the past few weeks, the biggest moves come right after a stock bottoms.

Potash POT Technical Analysis 12/1/08 - Dec 1st

You've probably noticed that I have been writing about Potash ( POT ) lately! It is because in my opinion, I believe there is a nice upside possibility on the near horizon. While the stock market appears to be breaking down technically after a huge one week run, I am very close to buying Potash ( POT ) in a major way. I need POT to close above the 10 day moving average first and I would love if it did that today in this bad market because when we have a green day, Potash would be a leader and get an even great bump higher.

As of today, the ten day moving average is right at $62.12, we haven't closed over the 10 day level since the Obama rally back in early November. That last run took Pot stock from $70 to $95 in 6 trading sessions. You can see that the potential is there for a nice gainer when this trade plays out. POT is currently at $60, so as of now, I won't be buying POT. Patience is the key because in the past few weeks, every time POT has tested the 10 day it has failed and gone lower. One of these days this trend will reverse and I will be buying. I will not be buying all at once, I will average up!

In this current stock market, it is all about NOT losing money! When I buy, I will be keeping a very tight stop to protect me from losing money. Most traders try to catch a falling knife and have gotten killed this year. I have been sitting on my hands for awhile now waiting to see some strength in this stock to take a long position.

To be continued.............

Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DJIA ) Close - 8829.04 Up 102.50
Nasdaq Stock Market Close - 1535.37 Up 3.47
S&P 500 Close - 896.24 Up 8.56

3 Month - 2.22%

Commodities Closing Prices - 11/28/08

Gold - 818.60
Oil - 52.00
Natural Gas - 6.43

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8829 on 11/28/08, as the stock markets closed early today on Black Friday. The Dow Jones has now gone up 5 straight days after breaking through key resistance on Wednesday. Some of the biggest gainers today have been stocks like Citigroup ( C ), General Motors ( GM ), and Ford ( F ). These beaten down companies have been subject of a buying frenzy in the past few trading sessions. Visa ( V ) also continues to be strong and is getting near a breakout point. I still hold my MercadoLibre ( MELI ) position from $10 and my Google ( GOOG ) position from $270. I am looking to add Potash ( POT ) as soon as we get a close over the 10 day moving average which is down to $63 now. POT stock is $61.50. As long as the markets continue this current uptrend, I will stay long these stocks. On a side note, Carl Ichan has upped his stake in Yahoo ( YHOO ) to 5.5%, adding 6.8 million shares last week. This is something to watch as well.

Later today I will have Technical Analysis for the Nasdaq and the Dow Jones right HERE. Make sure you check it out!

Dow Jones Open - Stock Market 10/30/08 - Opening Prices

The Dow Jones and Stock Markets are opening a lot higher today, 10/30/08. The Dow Jones open up 200 points to 9200 and briefly traded to the 9263 level. The Nasdaq is up 45 points to 1702. This morning, The GDP reading for the 3rd quarter came out and it was down 0.3%. Wall Street was expecting down 0.6% so this was viewed as positive. Keep in mind, these economic numbers are backward looking and for the most part, Wall Street has them priced in. You might want to check out comments by Bill Ackman & Art Cashin from this morning. They provide valuable insight on the stock market! Remember what I said about the QQQQ crossing $30.25? We never looked back and the QQQQ now trades at $32.75. Oh, I almost forgot, Libor Rates tanked this morning, this is another key reason stocks are up big today.

Stocks to Watch 10/30/08:

Las Vegas Sands ( LVS ) is at it again, LVS stock hit $12.75 this morning but has since retreated back to $11.50. I am going to let this stock settle for a few days and then re evaluate again. It has gone up almost 300% in two trading sessions. Earnings also come out next week, not to mention, we have an Election and the Jobs number.

Other Big Movers today are GKK, OMX, VSE, POT, FSLR. Check out the following website for the biggest stock gainers today. http://www.blackberrystocks.com/hotstocks.html

Stock Market 10/30/08 - Dow Jones Futures - Pre Market Trading

10/30/08 Pre Market Trading Report:

Today, October 30th, 2008, the Stock Market and Dow Futures are set to open up a lot higher following Asian Markets last night. The Dow Futures are called higher this morning by 197 points, the Nasdaq Futures are set to spike 34 points, and the S&P 500 Futures are set to rise by 27 points. Oil is set to open higher at $68.25 and Gold prices are set to rise to $772 an ounce. We are getting follow through from yesterdays Fed Rate Cut and we have opened new credit lines with central banks. As Guy Adami noted yesterday on Fast Money, we are in a trading range from 7800 to 9500. In his opinion, you should be selling up here. Dennis Gartman is now bullish on Gold...so watch Gold Stocks today.

Asian Markets - European Markets 10/30/08

Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index led the rise in Asia, jumping up 12.8 percent to 14,329.85, and South Korea's key stock index flew by 12 percent to 1,084.72.
Japan's Nikkei 225 stock average gained 10 percent percent to 9,029.76 as exporters like Toyota and Sony got a boost from the yen continuing to fall from a 13-year high against the dollar last week. Asian Markets have seen huge gains for the past three trading session.

Stocks to Watch today:

I will be trading Las Vegas Sands ( LVS ) today, I took a small position to hold over night and I will probably be selling into strength in pre market just to take profits and see what kind of highs and lows we get in the first 30 minutes of trading. This will tell a lot about the rest of the day. When I wrote this article yesterday, I had no idea LVS was going to spike over the 10 day moving average all in one day, I was actually expecting it to happen today. So we may in fact get a retest above $9.38.

I'm also going to be watching Potash ( POT ) today. Still waiting for that close over $82....maybe we will get it today. First Solar ( FSLR ) came out with great earnings and guidance last night. FSLR is set to be a big mover today.

I will have another update after 10am today, so check my homepage!

Dow Jones Open - Stock Market 10/29/08 - Opening Prices

The Dow Jones and the Stock Market are opening up lower today, 10/29/08. The Dow Jones opened up around 9000 and is trading in a range between 8950 - 9100. All eyes are on the Fed rate cut decision this afternoon. The Nasdaq is down 13 points today, October 29th, but Apple ( AAPL ) is bucking the trend after positive comments from Jim Cramer last night on Mad Money. Jim Cramer thinks Apple is cheap at these levels and shares of AAPL can be used to gauge how healthy the stock market is. Apple stock price is $104 per share.

Stocks To Watch - 10/29/08

Stock Market 10/23/08 - Pre Market Trading - Potash ( POT ) Earnings, Futures

This morning, Thursday, 10/23/08, the stock market futures are pointing slightly down and Oil is up $1.25 to $68 dollars per barrel.

European stock markets were lower Thursday after Japan's Nikkei index closed at a five-year low and Wall Street's Dow Jones index ended down nearly 6 percent Wednesday over mounting recession fears.

Britain's FTSE 100 index was down 35.24 points, or 0.9 percent, at 4,005.65, while Germany's DAX was 77.34 points, or 1.7 percent, at 4,493.73. The CAC-40 in France was 34.01 points, or 1.0 percent, lower at 3,264.17.

Earlier Japan's Nikkei 225 stock average tumbled 7 percent at the open but recovered to close down 2.5 percent at 8,460.98, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index was down 4.7 percent at 13,603 after falling more than 6 percent earlier. South Korea's market was down more, as the benchmark Kospi fell nearly 10 percent at one point but closed down 7.5 percent at 1,049.71.

Stock to Watch 10/23/08

Potash ( POT ) - Potash beat earnings by .36...coming in with $3.93 per share. Revenues were 3.06 Billion. They expect business to continue to be strong ( Unlike Mosaic ( MOS ) )
Potash ( POT ) shares up up $4 or 6% to $71 in pre market on the NYSE.

Amazon.com Inc.'s (AMZN) net income rose 48% amid continuing popularity of its free shipping service, but the online retailing giant disappointed investors with a tepid outlook for the fourth quarter. AMZN shares are trading at $43 or down 14% in pre market 10/23

Amgen ( AMGN ) reported some outstanding earnings last night.....shares of AMGN are set to open up 5% higher to $52 per share.

Pre Market Trading - Stock Market 10/17/08

The stock market is set to open up pre market a lot lower today on Friday, 10/17/08. Investors are nervous about some key economic data due out including Housing Starts and Consumer Confidence.

Stocks to Watch 10-17-08:

Google ( GOOG ) - Google reported earnings of $4.92 Thursday, beating wall street estimates. The stock is set to open Fridays pre market at $388 after closing at $353 on Thursday. Pete Najarian on CNBC Fast Money last night said everyone is piling into Google GOOG right now, chasing after it. Najarian said that we will have another chance to buy Google, don't chase it! Early 2009 they will probably doubt Google once again, and if they miss earnings....it will get slammed. Add this to the fact that business in the beg of 2009 will be horrible combined with the technology slowdown....you will most likely get another chance to buy Google again.

Potash ( POT ) - Potash led all stocks yesterday at the end of the day with positive money flow. This is a positive sign going forward as Pot has just gotten beat up left and right. Potash reports earnings on 10/22 I believe, so keep this stock on your watch lists.

Warren Buffett - Warren Buffett is buying stocks for his personal account for the first time ever. He says that over the long term, this is one of the greatest opportunities you will get. " Be fearful when others are greedy, Be greedy when others are fearful" is Warren Buffets Motto.

Dow Jones trading range: Keep an eye on the current trading range of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. $9800 to $7800. You should be buying when we get closer to the bottom of the range....and selling stocks when you get closer to the high range. S&P 500 trading range - $1006 to $836

- Gilead Sciences Inc.'s (GILD) third-quarter net income rose 27% amid strong sales of HIV drugs. Results topped analysts' estimates, pushing shares up 3.9% in late trading

- Capital One Financial Corp. (COF) swung to a third-quarter profit as the bank and credit-card issuer saw higher deposits and increased profits in it local banking segment. Shares rose 3.7% in late trading.

- Evergreen Solar Inc. (ESLR) fell 9% pre market after reporting its net loss widened due to start-up costs at a new plant for the solar-panel maker.
