NQ Mobile (NQ) Stock - Buy or Sell? Scam or Fraud?
NQ Mobile (NQ) - Buy or Sell? NQ Mobile (NQ) is a buy below $8, sell above $17.
NQ Mobile (NQ) dropped 50% Thursday after a short seller, Muddy Waters, issued a strong sell rating on the stock and called it a fraud. Muddy Waters thinks NQ is worth zero since it's a scam. Is NQ Mobile (NQ) a fraud and a scam? I sorta doubt it.
I upgraded NQ Mobile (NQ) to buy back in March 2013 when the stock was trading between $7-$9. Since then, shares have rallied to $26. While I hated it above $15, the company seemed to be legitimate. The Co-CEO Omar Khan is a frequent guest on CNBC and they claim to have over 300 million users. That is a large number to be called a scam. With all of the Chinese scams going around since 2011, NQ Mobile was the last company I thought would be called a scam.
NQ Mobile (NQ) will hold a conference call at 8:30am EST today (October 25, 2013) and they will try to help investor spirits. I'm expecting NQ stock to bounce back above $14 but if we see a drop below $8, it might be worth a lottery ticket.

Las Vegas Sands LVS CNBC Stock Pick
Shares of Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS) just received a nice pop in price as a guest on CNBC said he likes the stock and gave it a $26 price target.
The guest says LVS is " well positioned " as we go ahead in the future.
Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS) also received an Upgrade from Argus earlier this week. Argus has an $18 price target on the stock.
Keep an eye on the previous high of $14.97 from August 28, 2009. If LVS can close above that level, look for the stock to start a fresh breakout. I will have some technical analysis over the weekend so make sure you check back.

Rentech RTK CEO on CNBC Tonight 8/18/09
Rentech, Inc. (RTK) CEO will be on CNBC tonight discussing the recent Jet Fuel news. Look for this interview to air on CNBC's Kudlow & Company at 7pm EST tonight - August 18, 2009.
I had the date wrong on this....but the post was written yesterday so most of you figured it out.
Basically the CEO beat around the bush about the price of the fuel....it was competitive to current prices of regular jet fuel. He also said they are not looking to sell the company. He looked a little unprepared and nervous but maybe it was just me.

Meredith Whitney CNBC 7/13/09 July 13 2009
Meredith Whitney was on CNBC this morning ( July 13, 2009 ) and gave her comments on the current financial crisis and why she upgraded Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS).
Earnings Season
It's all different...For Goldman Sachs, its a bearish call but a bullish call on the stock. The next few years GS will make a lot of money on debt market securities. They will report a monster quarter tomorrow and I upped the price target to $186 per share.
Things aren't improving for the banks but their net tangible book value is improving so you don't want to be shorting some of these banks going into earnings.
Bank of America Corporation ( BAC ) is the cheapest as far as the tangible book value is concerned. You could see a 15% move higher in value in these shares.
I think in some of these financials, you could see a 15% move, then a flat lined period followed by another leg down.
JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) - JP Morgan will do well with investment banking, JPM earnings will be a great preview to Bank of America's earnings report.
Bank of America ( BAC ) - Will have a monster mortgage quarter. BAC is one the the cheapest banks out there.
Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - What matters with Citigroup is the dilation, not many people are focused on Citigroup stock this quarter.
Unemployment: Unemployment could be 13% by 2010-2011.....i'm not ready to go 14% just yet....this is what happens when we buy time but don't restructure the banks, economy. This is a scary situation!
Bank Stress Test: As for the bank stress test, it WAS NOT so stressful!

Art Cashin Comments - July 8, 2009
I think we will know the coarse of the stock market by July 17, 2009. Whether we retest the lows or not, we will have an answer by the end of next week. As far as earnings go, I an discounting the earnings and focusing on the outlook.
The first stimulus package was part illusion and hope, we misused it, we may not be able to help ourselves now the we actually need it.

Art Cashin Comments - July 1, 2009
I think the market would really like to rally, so there is usually slight prejudice in the first three trading days of the month as well as going into a holiday weekend.
The enemy of all this is that the trading is so light that any piece of news could really move that market in either direction

Art Cashin was on CNBC this morning, June 30, 2009 - and gave some comments about what he is seeing in the stock market right now.
We are at 8500 again....are we still in the sideways trade?
Looks like we will continue...stock market is looking tired. We are waiting to see a break out of this range. It can go either way at this point, we are just watching and waiting.
Earnings are upon us:
I suspect we will see no visibility, the bar for earnings is low so they should be able to meet those. The key will be the outlook going forward. There are signs that we cannot see ahead. If Oil rises above $74, you could see a short covering spike and that could hurt things.

Warren Buffett CNBC June 24, 2009 6/24/09
Warren Buffett was on CNBC today ( June 24, 2009 ) and gave comments on how things are going in the economy.
Warren Buffett Interview on CNBC - 6/24/09
Economic Progress: It's been pretty flat since we last talked in May, in terms of the Economy coming back, it takes awhile. Job's are the most important problem we need to solve right now.
Green Shoots - We're not seeing " green shoots ", industrial demand is still down, these green shoots haven't happened yet lol. ( Warren also said he just had eye surgery and he still can't see them )
President Obama: The Obama administration is doing things, and it will take awhile for them to take effect
Ben Bernanke: I don't think you can do better then him, he should be re elected
Inflation/Deflation? I don't worry about deflation at all, we won't see it - We have taken action on fighting this economic war which raises the probability of very high inflation.
Wells Fargo WFC: I'm sure Wells Fargo wants to get out of TARP ASAP. Earnings power is huge no matter what. I just wish they wouldn't have taken the warrants that came with the tarp.
Apple ( AAPL ) - Steve Jobs: I think if I have any serious operation or medical condition coming up I would tell America. I would make full disclosure if I become ill.
Stock Market Prediction: I think its attractive over the next 10 years, equities will do better then fixed dollar investments.

Joe Terranova CNBC Fast Money - Commodities
Joe Terranova came on CNBC's Fast Money Halftime Report today ( 5/26/09 ) and told viewers that he is bullish on the stock market. There is " tremendous resilience " in both the stock market and commodities. " The S&P 500 is back over 900 and stocks are going up on bad news again. "
If you look at Apple Inc. (AAPL), Google Inc. (GOOG), Research In Motion Ltd. (RIMM), and International Business Machines Corp. (IBM), with the S&P 500 above 900....you can get long these companies.
You want to be in stocks like technology and commodities with the market continuing to move higher
Nobody believes this rally but is a stock market that continues to go higher.
Commodities, Gold, Agriculture, Oil are all great sectors to be in right now.

Nouriel Roubini March 31 2009 3/31/09 CNBC
Nouriel Roubini, " Dr. Doom, " came on CNBC this morning and gave comments on what he is seeing in the stock market and financial sector. Nouriel Roubini has been calling this meltdown and has been right for 3 years. He has a downside target for the S&P 500 at 600 and believes this is just another bear market rally. Nouriel believes recent lows will be tested again.
Toxic Asset Plan:
- It will work for awhile but its still not going to stop the problem because they might sell assets below value.
- No one knows what the bad assets are worth, some banks will resist selling them at low prices
- It is time for a special insolvency regime for institutions
- Government bears risks after first losses of toxic loans
- If economy gets worse, it could get ugly very quickly
- There is still a wealth transfer taking place
- Still think some banks must fail and get taken over
Light at the end of the tunnel - We are going to avoid a depression - since they are using everything in their power to avoid this ( the bazooka ) - But it's going to be a long way out of this.
We are close to a stock market bottom but this is just another bear market rally. I still see downside risk more then upside risks for the stock market.
I've been right for three years, in my view, this is still a bear market rally. I see the previous lows being tested again. I will be the first to tell you when I see a recovery. You saw the market get pushed down 3-4% on the GM news yesterday. This is a very shaky stock market!!
Housing prices will fall by another 15-20% - Housing market has not bottomed out. I am still much more bearish then consensus.

Art Cashin CNBC 3/27/09 March 27, 2009
Art Cashin was on CNBC this morning, March 27, 2009 - and gave some comments about what he is seeing in the stock market right now.
Are there any Bears left Art? Can this rally last?
Window Dressing: You are seeing some window dressing - Fund managers are seeing this sharp rally and its making headlines, - they are attempting to buy the winners so they show up in their portfolios ( when the statements go out ). Today may be the last important day...we will see what happens at the end of the day.
Raise Cash? I thought there would be a powerful rally weeks ago, there might be a little bit of steam left in this rally. 70% of stocks are above 50 day moving average, when you see 80% the rally starts to die. We might have a change in direction around Easter...just not sure which way yet.
Shorts have had fear placed back on their plate...I think they are nervous now but if we get another dip, they might try and push it down once again.

Art Cashin CNBC 3/24/09 March 24, 2009
Art Cashin was on CNBC this morning, March 24, 2009 - and gave some comments about the explosive rally we saw yesterday. Art Cashin came on CNBC around 2:30pm and said yesterday's stock market rally would either start to fade or we will have a fireworks explosion to the upside. The Dow Jones ended up going up an additional 200 points!
Art Cashin Comments -3/24/09
How impressive was the rally?
It was a stand out day, 97% of nyse stocks traded up, the VIX didn't pullback, but you can't take anything away from the rally. This current rally ranks in the Top 10 rallies. We punched through 804 resistance on the S&P 500, we are now overbought, we will have to rest here and wait to see what comes out of Washington.
Toxic Asset Comments:
Will the sellers sell at low prices?
If they sell, what will they do with the money? Probably pay the TARP back as quick as they can, they don't want the mother in the kitchen ( Washington ). Goldman Sachs came out yesterday and said they would do this.

Art Cashin CNBC 3/17/09 March 17, 2009
Art Cashin was on CNBC this morning, March 17, 2009 - and gave some comments about the stock market on St Patrick's Day 2009.
Art Cashin Comments -3/17/09
Is the stock market rally / bounce over?
The jury still out, yesterday the market go ahead of itself, hit some resistance around 7400, and then closed down. We would not like to have two down days in a row.....more down action could take us down to retest 720 on the S&P 500.
If this rally isn't the real deal we will fail badly, but from that will spring the real rally.
Whats next?
Watching for what comes out of TALF, if that doesn't work, the Fed might get aggressive and go in and buy toxic assets.

Art Cashin 3/13/09 March 13, 2009 - Rally
Art Cashin, floor trader on the NYSE, was on CNBC this morning and gave several stock market related comments on what he is seeing.
Art Cashin Comments -3/13/09
Should we be worried because we've rallied so much?
We do have to have some concern, this is starting to look like a crowded trade - all of a sudden everyone is bullish on the stock market.
Also Volume is holding up only on short covering - you see heavy volume going into the bank sector but light volume everywhere else.
We closed at the top yesterday, closing at the top is usually followed by sideways action or down
I guess this rally needs to prove itself!

Art Cashin, floor trader on the NYSE, was on CNBC this morning and gave several stock market related comments on what he is seeing.
Art Cashin Comments -3/12/09
Art, what do you think about the mark to market rule?
On Mark to Market - we saw futures tick up on the PA congressman's comments on suspending the accounting rule. If they can pull it off you could see this rally have legs. We are pushing for an adjustment or suspension of the mark to market rule....its not to cover up things, its to prevent ridiculous pricing of things in the market place
What is your opinion of the stock market right now?
I think what we want to watch is 740-745 on the S&P 500...Also support is 713 and we need to stay above 700. On the Dow, we have resistance at 7000-7025
Things are getting interesting!

Meredith Whitney CNBC 3/10/09 March 10, 2009
Meredith Whitney was on cnbc this afternoon( March 10, 2009 ) and gave her comments on the current financial crisis.
- Credit Cards will be the next credit crunch
- At least 2 trillion of credit card lines to be cut by 2010
- Bank credit card portfolios will not be profitable in 2009, might even lose money
Would you be buying the bank stocks right now?
- Goldman Sachs ( GS ) in the $70's yes, $100's no
- There is a trade here, but a trade alone...I think you could probably make money getting long some of these stocks. We will have to see what they do as far a mark to market in April.
Citigroup ( C ) - they don't make money in any of their businesses - you see Citi up 28% today but its only $0.28 cents. I am skeptical of these relief rallies.
Citi will be forced to sell their crown jewels
Mark to Market accounting
The damage is already done....if the market comes back, they don't get the benefit to write their assets back up. Mark to market doesn't really matter right now.
TALF - Is TALF going to be enough? They are trying to entice the private sector to come back into the market, private capital has to have sweet terms to get back into the stock market.
With these bank stocks - you could see them go up on earnings in the first quarter because of a head fake on the mortgage moratorium.
