The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9218 on 8/18/09, as the stock market bounced back after a big sell off Monday. The Dow Jones Futures started the day higher and the stock market improved throughout the day. The technology sector got a huge boost as RBC Capital came out and raised price targets for Apple Inc. (AAPL) - Research In Motion Ltd. (RIMM) - Palm, Inc. (PALM). One of the hottest stocks today was a company called Rentech ( RTK ). The CEO will be on CNBC tonight talking about their latest jet fuel deals.

The Dow Jones continues to hold 9000 which is bullish. I continue to watch the 10 day moving average at 9292. We need to get back over the 10 day this week and hold for a shot at another breakout to the upside. If we fail at the 10 day moving average again, it could set up another big plunge to the downside. On the flip side, if the Dow closes over 9438, you could see another massive short squeeze higher. Rentech RTK CEO on CNBC Tonight 8/18/09

Rentech, Inc. (RTK) CEO will be on CNBC tonight discussing the recent Jet Fuel news. Look for this interview to air on CNBC's Kudlow & Company at 7pm EST tonight - August 18, 2009.

I had the date wrong on this....but the post was written yesterday so most of you figured it out.

Basically the CEO beat around the bush about the price of the fuel....it was competitive to current prices of regular jet fuel. He also said they are not looking to sell the company. He looked a little unprepared and nervous but maybe it was just me.

The BDI data is critical for how the DryBulk Shipping Stocks such as DryShips Inc ( DRYS ), Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd( EXM ), Diana Shipping Inc ( DSX ), Genco Shipping & Trading Limited ( GNK ), TBS International Limited ( TBSI ), Navios Maritime ( NM ), Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. ( EGLE ), Paragon Shipping Inc. ( PRGN ), Star Bulk Carriers Corp. ( SBLK ), and OceanFreight Inc ( OCNF ) will trade during the day. Stocks to Watch - 8/18/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Short ETFs: The stock market was hit hard Monday but no major damage has been done yet. I am watching a key support level in the Dow Jones of 9000-9040. If the Dow closes below this level, we could be getting set for a deeper correction. Below were some of the hottest short ETF's in the stock market on Monday. Full Short ETF list here

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - FAS took a big hit Monday as the stock market plunged. FAS gapped below the 10 day moving average which is a technically bearish signal. The only way i'd trade FAS right now is if it breaks back up through $70. I will be buying FAZ for a trade if FAS breaks below Monday's low of $65.70. These are for quick trades only until I get a sense of the next major direction in the markets.

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Citigroup is the only stock that I own right now and don't mind holding it because it has been the strongest financial stock lately. I do believe it will eventually trade above and hold $5 within the next few months. I am watching resistance at $4.24 which if broken, I will add to my position. I will also add to my position on a break up through $4.48 which will be the start of the big breakout. Check out my Citigroup Technical Analysis

Bank of America Corp ( BAC ) - Bank of America Corporation tested the 10 day moving average on Monday ( $16.50 ) which held and provided a bounce. A close below $16.50 would be bearish. I am watching out for a close over major resistance located in the high $17's before I buy the stock. I am also willing to load the boat at the 50 day moving average located at $13.54.

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - AIG is trading continues to make lower highs...when this trend changes you could see a nice pop in the stock. Watching resistance levels of $24, $25, and $26.50. I will buy when AIG breaks back above $25.

Freddie Mac (FRE) - You will probably see a pop when FRE breaks above $1.34 ( Monday's high of day ), but I will be waiting for a break above $1.50 before I get back in for a trade.

Fannie Mae (FNM) - You will probably see a pop when FNM breaks $0.98 ( Monday's high of the day ), but I will be waiting for the stock to break above $1.07 before I get back in.

Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (HEB) - HEB continues to hold last weeks low of $1.87. I will be buying for a quick trade when HEB breaks back up through $2

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - Next Monday, CTIC is expecting to hear from the FDA whether their application for Pixantrone will be accepted. CTIC will move again when it breaks above $1.63
