Tesla (TSLA) Technical Analysis - July 27, 2020

Tesla, Inc. (TSLA) reported blow out earnings on Wednesday and while the stock initially popped, we are now seeing a correction.  Whether this is related to the massive run from $1,000 or the overall weakness in tech stocks, its something we need to watch closely.

Tesla (TSLA) is my top stock to buy right now due to this correction and I will be targeting $1,355 or lower on Monday and Tuesday.  If you recall a few weeks ago, I sold 1/3 of my Tesla position because it rallied so high so fast that I thought a correction was coming.  After all, Tesla (TSLA) stock nearly hit my 2021 price target of $1,800--a price target I might have to upgrade as we get closer to 2021.

Tesla (TSLA) stock has rallied from $350 on March 18th to roughly $600 in after hours trading on Thursday.  This represents a massive 71% gain from the low and there is still another 50% to go to hit $900.  Tesla (TSLA) raised over $2 billion right before the stock market plunge so the company was well capitalized going into the Covid crisis.  While the Fremont plant will remain closed until May 4th, Tesla's China Gigafactory is the most important growth driver right now as the company continues to hit record production.  Tesla is set to crush the competition by delivering cars straight to Chinese consumers from that factory.

As for the stock, Tesla (TSLA) shares are back testing $600 and coming up on some major resistance.  Watch the $611-$645 area as well as the $668 level.  Tesla has rallied back to a critical area of resistance so I'm expecting shares to take a pause here before the next earnings report.  All major pullbacks remain a super strong buy for long term investors.

Shares of Shake Shack (SHAK) are skyrocketing tonight after the company reported blow out earnings and raised guidance.  The burger chain reported $0.12 EPS vs $0.07 expected as well as sales of $53.3 million vs $47.5 million expected.  SHAK stock is currently trading between $53-$55.

Shake Shack (SHAK) plans to open a lot more restaurants in the coming years and the stock is a buy for the long term.  However, be careful paying above $50 in the short term, wait and see if we get a correction.  SHAK will have resistance up at $56.69 and if the stock closes above that level tomorrow, we could see a retest of $60.

Netflix (NFLX) is trading around $109 ahead of earnings tonight and the stock has been sideways for a few months now.  Investors will likely focus on subscriber growth as well as EPS and sales.  If Netflix (NFLX) can beat earnings and raise guidance, the stock will likely see the $120's.  The company plans to raise prices which will help margins in the future.

NFLX stock will have resistance up at $115.83 and support down at $102.60.

Twitter (TWTR) stock dropped to the mid $24's on Monday but then bounced almost $1.  Twitter (TWTR) is very cheap at these levels and the CEO announcement could come any week now.  I'm expecting the stock to see a nice lift when the company makes the announcement but you will want to continue to sell all big rallies and then wait to buy back lower.

Twitter (TWTR) has been one of the best trading stocks on Wall St in 2015 but if you were greedy and didn't sell, you are down a ton.  I'm back to a full position and will again be looking to sell into the next big rally.  Resistance is now located at $25.61.

Apple (AAPL) stock is up above $112 in pre market this morning as the stock market futures soar again.  Apple (AAPL) has now rallied from $92-$112 since Monday's open.  With such a massive move higher, I think it's time to sell AAPL and take profits.  I believe we will see a better entry point in the future.  Buy Apple (AAPL) below $100 if we see another sell off.  We will be watching AAPL in the stock picks group.

Apple (AAPL) stock dropped with the stock market on Friday but shares are now a strong buy.  Apple (AAPL) has over $200 billion in cash and is buying back a lot of stock so I would be aggressively buying hand over fist.  The stock was almost a bubble in the $130's and I was calling Apple (AAPL) a strong sell but now at $106 the stock is a strong buy.  Anything below $110 from here on a out is a strong buy.  We will be watching AAPL in the stock picks group.

Twitter (TWTR) stock held up well during Friday's big sell off.  TWTR bounced off $25.51 Friday morning and then surged 5% to $26.74 while the Dow Jones was down 350 points.  Twitter (TWTR) is now back to the IPO price point which nobody has seen except the early IPO investors.

Twitter (TWTR) is very cheap at these levels and the CEO announcement could come any week now.  I'm expecting the stock to see a nice lift when the company makes the announcement but you will want to continue to sell all big rallies and then wait to buy back lower.

Tesla (TSLA) has been tanking lately due to the volatile stock market.  When volatility spikes and Wall St. is in a panic, they dump almost everything and the high beta stocks like Tesla (TSLA) seem to sell off the most.

Tesla (TSLA) hit $260 last week because of the $465 Morgan Stanley upgrade so I viewed this pullback as an excellent buying opportunity.  Tesla stock is a strong buy between $220-$230 if we see more downside.

Tesla (TSLA) rallied big today after Morgan Stanley upgraded shares and slapped a $465 price target on the stock.  TSLA closed at $255 gained almost 5% on the day.  So what now?  I feel Tesla (TSLA) will begin an uptrend into the next earnings report.  Barring any major stock market correction, we should see the stock hit $270-$280 into the next report.

Buy Tesla (TSLA) on dips into the low $240's if we see another pullback.

Buy Twitter (TWTR) Now?

Is it time to buy Twitter (TWTR) stock right now?  Shares of Twitter (TWTR) hit a record low on Monday after shares broke a key support level.  Twitter (TWTR) surged above $40 last wek after earnings but have been down ever since on fears about user growth.

Twitter (TWTR) currently has a 2016 Price Target of $44

I'm in the camp that says you should buy Twitter (TWTR) stock over the next three months ahead of earnings and a new CEO announcement.  I feel that TWTR will return to $32-$33 by the next earnings announcement in October, resulting in a 10% gain.  Buy Twitter stock between $25-$29 over the next three months.  Sell every big rally and do it all over again.

Apple (AAPL) stock is trading around $131 ahead of earnings tonight.  The company is expected to report sales of $49.31 billion and EPS of $1.81.

Apple (AAPL) has been a boring stock over the last five months because the company is so large that shares can't really move up much from here.  When a company has a market cap of almost $750 billion, it's really hard to move the needle no matter how good they are.  The Apple Watch has been a huge flop and the company could be done innovating.

Still, the iPhone is one powerful product so this will drive the stock over the next 12 months.  Apple (AAPL) needs to break $135 on heavy volume to move into the $140's.  Support is located down around $120-$122.   We will be watching AAPL in the stock picks group.

FitBit (FIT) tanked with the market Tuesday and then roared all the way back above $42.  Baird gave shares an outperform rating with a $52 price target.  FIT stock will hit resistance between $43-$45 but be careful chasing it above that price because the stock has rallied $10 in a week.  Fitbit (FIT) will have support down around $39 going forward. Buy Prima Biomed (PBMD) Stock?

Buy Prima Biomed (PBMD) stock? PBMD is soaring 68% to $2 today after the company was endorsed by the EMA. Shares jumped over 50% last night on the ASX and that momentum is carrying over into the U.S listed shares.

The question is, should I buy PBMD stock?  I usually wait until we see some sort of pullback in pre market or the open to buy.  Looking at the chart, PBMD will have resistance in the short term at $2.01 and $2.38.  A break above $2.38 will be bullish and cause a short squeeze.  Check out the chart below.

Stock Market Analysis July 2015

The stock market is volatile as we head into July 2015 mainly due to the Greece crisis.  The S&P 500 just bounced off the 200 day moving average over the last two days which is very bullish.  Most people expect another leg down so I would probably wait this out but if we do see more downside, start looking at SPXL or TNA.

The S&P 500 will have support at 2055 and resistance up between 2090-2100.  If we shoot back above 2100, we might go on to hit another record high, especially if there is a positive outcome in Greece.

2016 is an Election year which means the stock market will likely see strong gains.  The biggest threat to this thesis would be a significant rise in interest rates.

Twitter (TWTR) is ripping higher today on takeover rumors as well as a bullish note from Canaccord.  Twitter (TWTR) is still well off the recent $40.45 high in after hours a few weeks ago but the stock is performing well.  The stock will be volatile into a key earnings report in early August.  As usual, expect a 10-20% move in either direction. We will be watching TWTR and buying it in the stock picks group.

Tesla (TSLA) stock exploded higher yesterday after the company released bullish Q1 deliveries data.  Tesla says they delivered 10,030 vehicles which is better than expected.  Shares have been hit recently after Jim Cramer told everyone to sell below $190 and it is the worst run company he knows.  Investors also feared China sales as well.

Tesla (TSLA) pretty much silenced the critics over the weekend with the news and the stock exploded back up near $210 yesterday.  Over the last 10 years the call was never to bet against Apple (AAPL), don't bet against Tesla (TSLA) over the next 5 years or you will be destroyed.  Jim Cramer should be shamed of himself!  Earnings are due out in a few weeks but TSLA will have resistance up around $211.
