Ambac ABK Analysis 1/8/09 January 8, 2009

Ambac ( ABK ) stock is breaking out to the upside today ($1.70 ), 1/8/09. It's time to take a look at this stock once again. Today's Biggest Gainers

Ambac ( ABK ) Stock Analysis - Technical Analysis - January 8, 2009

Support Levels - $1.50
Resistance Levels - $1.74 & $2.00

Ambac ( ABK ) is doing something today it hasn't done in three months. Break up through its 50 day moving average. The 50 day moving average is located at $1.53 and technically this signals a buy signal. ABK has resistance at $1.74 and $2.00. The volume has been strong in the first 90 minutes of trading today, over 15 million shares.

If I were getting long this stock ( I don't own it as of yet ) i'd place a stop loss order at $1.50 or if it breaks $2.00 and runs a bit, i'd move it up to $2.00. I do not see any news causing this rally but Ambac broke though Monday's high of $1.63, another bullish indicator.

Furthermore, this appears to be a technical breakout vs a fundamental break out. Keep an eye on the above support and resistance levels.

Dow Jones Open 11/20/08 - Stock Market

The Dow Jones and Stock Market's are opening up weaker 11/20/08 as we are seeing following through on selling from yesterday. The Dow Jones is testing the 7773 intraday low and closing lows of Oct 10th, 2008. We actually hit 7776 and bounced. I will note however, Amazon.com ( AMZN ) VERY strong this morning. Watch Apple ( AAPL ) and Exxon Mobile ( XOM )...if these stocks can turn green the market will rally.

Dow Jones Opening Prices 11/20/08 - 10:40am

Dow Jones - 7857 Down 140
Nasdaq- 1368 Down 18
S&P 500 - 786 Down 20

Dow Jones Futures - 11/05/08 - Stock Market Report

Pre Market Stock Trading Report: 11/05/08

Today, November 5th, 2008, the Stock Market and Dow Jones Futures are pointing lower this morning, the day after the United States has voted in Barack Obama as the next President of the United States of America. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DJIA ) Futures are down 68 points, S&P 500 Futures are down 13 points, and the Nasdaq is down 13 points today. It will be interesting to see what happens today as we have had a huge run in the stock markets over the past week. Will the Dow Jones continue to go up? Here was my technical chart over the weekend. We are very close to breaking 9794, but will we have enough left to break through that level?

Asian Markets - European Markets 11/05/08

European Stock Markets opened lower following the news that Barack Obama was going to be our next President. The FTSE 100 index of leading British shares was down 122.43 points, or 2.6 percent, at 4,517.07, while Germany's DAX was 110.15 points, or 2.1 percent, lower at 5,167.89. The CAC-40 in France was 101.10 points, or 2.7 percent, lower at 3,589.99.

Japan's Nikkei 225 stock average rose 4.5 percent to 9,521.24, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index went up 3.2 percent to 14,840.16. This was mainly due to the strong Yen currency.

Stocks to Watch today: November 5th, 2008

MasterCard ( MA ) & Visa ( V ) - I continue to watch these two stocks after Jim Cramer mentioned them yesterday calling for MasterCard to hit $180 in the next 48 hours.

Ambac ( ABK ) is falling this morning because after reporting an earnings loss of $8.45 per share.

CIT Group ( CIT ) - As I mentioned yesterday in the low $5's, watch this stock closely. It broke out to the upside right before the close and actually was trading at $6.80 in after hours last night. The stock has great volume and news so keep it on your watch lists.

Las Vegas Sands ( LVS ) & Hartford Financial ( HIG ) - Watch these two stocks, I only like them if they break through the highs of the day after 9:45am Est.

Charlie Gasparino CNBC ABK, MBI 10/29/08

Charlie Gasparino has just come on CNBC today, 10/29/08, and told viewers that the Eric Dinallo and the Treasury are meeting to discuss Ambac ( ABK ) and MBIA ( MBI ) for a possible coverage in the Tarp program.

If the treasury provides capital into these bond insurers, their rating could get lifted higher. This would be huge for both ABK and MBI.
Both stocks are surging on this news, ABK is 2.83 and MBI is 8.36.

Pre Market Trading - Stock Market 10/20/08 - Libor Rates Declining

Today, 10/20/08, The stock market futures are pointing higher so far in pre market trading. Asian and Europe stock markets rose nicely last night. The Nikkei was up 3.6% and the Hang Send was up 5.3% last night in active stock trading.

Libor rates have been coming down a bit helping to boost the overseas markets. Even Europe opened a lot stronger last night. It look like it will be a strong day for the US stock markets. Oil is hitting $74 this morning , up $2 per barrel mounting talk that the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries ( OPEC ) will cut production at the end of this week in an attempt to shore up prices that have fallen by 50 percent in three months.

Stocks to Watch Today - Ambac ( ABK ) & Cit Group ( CIT )

These two stocks were very active on Friday and up huge. There is no reason to think that will let up today with a strong stock market. You could really see some nice gains in these stocks.

Ambac ( ABK ) CIT Group ( CIT ) 10/17/08

Today the stock market is having a great day bouncing off the low from this morning to breaking out this afternoon.

Two of the biggest gainers for Friday 10/17/08 are ABK and CIT

CIT rebounded after a 38% loss Thursday, when the company reported its net loss ballooned amid surging credit losses and $455 million in write-downs at its vendor-finance business.

Ambac ABK: Analysts at Barclays capital cited reports that insurer Ambac Financial Group Inc. was going to the U.S. Treasury with a bailout proposal that would enable insurers to sell bad assets to the government as the primary reason for the stock to bounce.

These two stock have the potential to gap higher on Monday if some nice buy volume can come in at the end of the day and they can remain near their highs.

Stocks to Watch 9/23 - ABK, DSL, RIMM, BIDU, V

This morning the stock market futures are up slightly as the Government scrambles to put together a bailout plan for our financials markets. Yesterday Oil shot up $25 a barrel at one point due to buyers having to buy before contract options expiration. Oil is hovering around $108 right now in pre market.

Stock to Watch today: I am watching Research in Motion ( RIMM ) as I think there could be a nice trade here. RIMM has been all over the place over the past few weeks...with resistance being at that $110-$112 level. I can count several times where you could have bought under $100 and sold at $110 over the past few weeks. Even last week, you could have bought under $90 and sold at $107. So with RIMM today, i'd like to buy it under $95.

Ambac ( ABK ) is moving higher in pre market....this stock has gotten killed over the past few days due to fears that Moodys will cut their rating. The business is still sound, but if their rating gets cut, i'd assume they'd lose business. Day Trade ABK when it clears the high of the day. I could see it running back to $4.50-$5 in a few weeks. I would not hold it over night due to the Moodys problem.

DSL - They hired a new CEO....finally!

I'm looking to trade BIDU, Visa ( V ) and watching for the Gphone from Google ( GOOG ) to come out. The Google phone can do many things the Iphone can't such as..... Copy and Paste text into email and around the web like your normal computer can do. The iphone can't do this! The Gphone supports the open network and most of the Apps are free....where the Iphone you must pay for them. I think people will like the Gphone because of the freeness of the network....rather then Steve Jobs choosing what can go on your phone and what can't.

I will have another update later...don't forget about RIMM Earning 9/25/08

ABK Ambac Stock 9/22/08 - Moody's threatens to Downgrade

Shares of Ambac Financial Group ( ABK ) plunged 42 percent in heavy volume Friday, a day after Moody's said it might downgrade the bond insurer's ratings. This morning in pre market trading, ABK is set to $3.30...or another 10%

After markets closed on Friday, Ambac put out a statement saying it would suspend its $50 million stock buyback plan and postpone an $850 million contribution to Connie Lee, its new financial-guarantee subsidiary. Ambac also said any potential downgrade would pressure its business in the near term.

Keep this stock on your radars.......

ABK - Ambac news 9/03/08 - ABK hot in Pre market 9/03/08t

Last night, 9/02/08, Ambac ( ABK ) came out with the following news:

Ambac Financial Group, Inc. ( ABK ) Ambac Assurance Corporation (Ambac Assurance) today announced that it has received regulatory approval from the Commissioner of Insurance of the State of Wisconsin to capitalize and reactivate Connie Lee Insurance Company (“Connie Lee”), its financial guarantee subsidiary. Connie Lee will conduct business under a new name and will focus on the U.S. municipal and global public purpose financing markets. Ambac Assurance will inject $850 million into Connie Lee which will operate as a separate corporate and legal entity within Ambac Financial Group, Inc. (Ambac). Ambac is seeking to obtain stand-alone triple-A ratings for Connie Lee, and has worked extensively with Moody’s and Standard and Poor’s towards that goal. Connie Lee expects to write new insurance policies no later than the fourth quarter of 2008.

ABK is now trading above $8 in pre market and it bumping up at that $8.11 resistance level that I spoke about weeks ago when it was in the $5's.

So now what?  Well, the next resistance level I see would be at $9.35 which is at the 200 day moving average.  Keep in mind, this will move lower each day given that horrible past 200 days.  This is your next point to watch.  If ABK would close over $8.11, use a tight stop.

ABK, MBI analysis 8/29/08 - Ambac, MBIA support and resistance 8/28/08

ABK and MBI are looking a little weak in pre market today thanks to the lower futures by Dell Computer. Dell completely below it last night missing by .05 cents per share.

http://daytradingstockblog.blogspot.com/2008/08/abk-mbi-hot-stocks-82808-ambac-mbia.html

Ambac and MBIA went up 35-40% yesterday so some profit taking is expected.

Support and Resistance Levels ( ABK ) & ( MBI )

MBIA - MBI has support around $15.50 - $15.70 area.....a break below this with some volume and $15 would be tested and possibly $14.40's could be tested....this was a solid support level 8/28/08. A close below $14.40 and you will need to bail....this would be a breakdown of the 8/28/08 trading action. Resistance will be yesterdays high of $16.29 and the close of $16.15.

Ambac - ABK has minor support in the $7.10-$7.16 area, then support at around $6.90. Ambac went straight up yesterday from about $6.05 to $6.40....then paused for a half hour, followed by the explosion to $6.90. Resistance will be yesterdays high of $7.58 and the close of $7.42.

Hope this helps!!

ABK, MBI Hot Stocks 8/28/08 Ambac, MBIA August 28th

On August 15th, I wrote about Ambac ( ABK ) when it was in the $5's. I stated it has resistance in the low $8's and it looks like we could test that by next week.

Ambac ( ABK ) and MBIA ( MBI ) are surging today after MBIA To Reinsure $184B Of FGIC's Municipal Bonds.

MBIA Inc. (MBI) said Wednesday it will reinsure a $184 billion portfolio of U.S. public finance bonds insured by the troubled Financial Guaranty Insurance Co.
The Armonk, N.Y., bond insurer will pay a ceding fee of about $197 million and will receive about $741 million in unearned premiums for reinsuring the municipal bonds.
Premiums are booked over the length of an insurance policy's coverage period, so an insurer would have earned only 50% of the premiums paid on a one-year policy six months into that coverage period.
The deal resulted from a competitive process overseen by the New York State Insurance Department, which must approve the specific details.

MBIA is up 34% to $16.05
Ambac is up 37.5% to $7.21
