Today, 1/22/09, The Stock Market and Dow Jones are opening very weak due to weak housing data, weak jobless claims, and Microsoft ( MSFT ) releasing their earnings early. Microsoft reported a pretty ugly quarter and will be cutting 5,000 jobs. This news is weighing on the technology sector. Apple ( AAPL ) reported a great quarter last night and is up 7% this morning. The fear and volatility is back in the markets, always buy the big dips and sell the rips higher. It's a circus out there!

Dow Jones Open 1/21/09 - Stock Market Opening Prices
Today, 1/21/09, the Dow Jones and Stock Market are opening higher due to a combination of factors. First, I think we are having a nice oversold bounce around key support and resistance level such as
8000 on the Dow Jones and between 815-820 on the S&P 500. Second, we had a nice earnings report out of IBM ( IBM ) last night which is positive for the Nasdaq and the technology stocks. IBM also guided higher on 2009 earnings. Lastly, Citigroup ( C ) has FINALLY cut their dividend to a penny. This might turn out to be the bottom for Citi as usually when companies' slash their dividend, it is the final blow. Only time will tell. Other things to note this for the Open, Oil has started the March contract and is back trading above $40. Check out my Technical Analysis stock charts of the Dow Jones and Nasdaq. It is important to know your support and resistance levels so that you can make better stock trades! Also, for you day traders out there, keep an eye on upcoming earnings dates!

Dow Jones Open 1/14/09 - Stock Market Report
Today, January 14, 2009 - The Dow Jones and Stock Market are opening significantly lower. This technical breakdown started days ago when Citigroup ( C ) stock started to break support levels and the Dow Jones broke 8500. The next key support level for the DJIA would be at the 8130-8150 level. This area has been a spring board over the past two months and i'd expect us to bounce if we get to this level as buyers step in. With the Dow trading at 8262, we are soon there.
The Nasdaq is also testing key support of 1500...if this level breaks, look for 1450 as the next support area.

Dow Jones Open 1/2/09 - Stock Market Open
Today, 1/2/09, the Dow Jones and Stock Market are opening up mixed on low volume as we kick off the first trading day of the 2009 year. I continue to watch DryShips ( DRYS ) as this is where the action seems to be for daytraders. Another stock that is moving up big is the DXO which is the double long oil etf. Apple ( AAPL ) is also strong today on low volume.

Dow Jones Open 12/18/08 - Stock Market
The Dow Jones and Stock Market's are opening up slightly higher 12/18/08 on low volume. Oil is breaking down below $38 per barrel. Apple ( AAPL ) computer is rebounding a bit. Look for a rally if $91.10 is broken. Research in Motion closed above $40 yesterday but has fallen below $39 this morning as we await earnings. I was stopped out at $40 this morning so I am officially back out of this position but still own my Apple. Bought some USO today as I am starting a small long position. I have been waiting for break below $34 on the USO for awhile.

Dow Jones Open 12/17/08 - Stock Market
This more, the Dow Jones and Stock Market's are opening lower. Technology is getting hit because of Apple ( AAPL ) withdrawing from Macworld starting in 2010. This has investors fearing the health of Steve Jobs once again. Steve Jobs will not be giving the keynote address at this years Macworld. Apple has shown strong support around the $89 level in the past month so I am starting a small position Apple has 25 billion of cash sitting in the bank and while growth is slowing, they have one of the best businesses in the world. Not much downside from here. Apple also has some nice support at $85.
First Solar ( FSLR ) is a stock breaking out with nice volume this morning...keep an eye on ENER as well.

Dow Jones Open 12/15/08 - Stock Market
This morning, 12/15/08, the Dow Jones and Stock Market's are opening lower. This is mainly just a little backing and filling from Friday's recovery. Traders are waiting for news out of the White House this week on what they are going to do with GM and Ford. The Federal Reserve is also expected to cut rates and energy traders are waiting to see what the OPEC meeting brings. Apple ( AAPL ) appears to be leading the Nasdaq down as Goldman Sachs ( GS ) has come out and downgraded with company. Other big movers are the Casino Stocks. From a Technical Analysis point of view, as long as the Dow Jones stays over 8500 and the Nasdaq stays over 1500, I like them both on the long side.

Dow Jones Open 12/12/08 - Stock Market
Today, 12/12/08, the Stock Market and Dow Jones have come off their lows as the White House put out a statement saying they are prepared to step in and help the automakers. The Dow Jones Futures were down around 300 this morning but we have gone up 200 points from the low. The Dow is testing key resistance that was support of 8500. We'll see where we close today but make sure you keep an eye on the GMAC decision for later today.

Dow Jones Open 12/10/08 - Stock Market
This morning, the Dow Jones and Stock Market's are opening higher but seem to be weak as we await the potential auto bailout decision today, 12/10/08. Oil is gapping higher over $44 per barrel. This is something to watch. I am watching for the USO to break above $36.20 for a possible reversal to the upside after falling from $45 per share in the past few weeks. Pre Market volume was very strong. Dryships ( DRYS ) continues to run with the bulk shipping stocks but is off the highs. I am not doing much today, just waiting for the Auto Bailout Decision and watching how the market reacts. The markets are looking toppy short term but this auto bailout will move them one way or the other. The only thing I own right now is a small position in QID.

Dow Jones Open 12/03/08 - Stock Market
The Dow Jones and Stock Market's are opening slightly weaker today, 12/03/08. The Dow Jones is down only 20 after being down over 160, the Nasdaq is up 10, and the S&P 500 is testing 850 again, down only 1. All of three are trending over their 10 day moving averages. This is a line that has been giving a huge fight over the past week. It is a level I trade off of frequently. I bought some Research in Motion ( RIMM ) today and will add when it gets over $40. I think the bas news is priced in. If and when it gets over $40, I will use that level as a tight stop. Another stock that is looking attractive is the USO. Oil has gotten crushed over the past month and I think it could be due for a short term bounce if the stock market can improve. I think Oil could test $50 again shortly.

Dow Jones Open 12/02/08 - Stock Market
Today, December 2, 2008, the stock market is opening higher after yesterdays plunge. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DJIA ) is up 127 to 8275 as we are testing the 10 day moving average at 8292. The Nasdaq is up 24 to 1422 and the S&P 500 is up 18 to 835. Check out Art Cashin's comments on the S&P 500 from this morning. I am watching some of the stocks below and also the final hour to see how we close. I am also keeping the jobs report in the back of my mind on Friday. The USA is expected to have lost as many as 350,000 jobs in November and this report will be out on 12/05/08. If we get a number under 300,000 I think the market will spike higher.
Stocks to Watch - December 1, 2008
Apple ( AAPL ) and Research in Motion ( RIMM ) are going down because of Palm cutting their earnings. A virtual no name company that trades below $2 per share is dragging down RIMM stock almost 9% today. This is a sign technology is hitting a bottom. It's almost laughable! We'll have to see how the rest of the day goes but RIMM looks very interesting down here. It could get a pop if its breaks the high of day at $40.50.
Today's Biggest Gainers - 12/2/08
Watch Liz Claiborne ( LIZ ) as Guy Adami said last night on CNBC Fast Money he likes this stock for a trade. He didn't really elaborate but I think if it gets above $3 it might have some legs!

Dow Jones Open 11/28/08 - Stock Market
Today, 11/28/08, the Dow Jones and Stock Market's are opening up flat to down as investors appear to be taking profits after a nice last 4 trading sessions of gains. Keep in mind, this is a light volume trading session as most traders are not in the office today. The stock markets close at 1pm est. There doesn't appear to be much action but some of the biggest gainers include General Motors ( GM ), Ford ( F ), Citigroup ( C ), Fannie Mae ( FNM ) , and Freddie Mack ( FRE ). Chesapeake ( CHK ) seems to have stopped dropping just under $16 but I won't be trying to catch this falling knife. There are much better buys out there like Devon ( DVN ) and Anadarko ( APC ) if I want to get involved with the drillers. Baidu.com ( BIDU ) is also weak today, It has support at around $131 for a trade.

Stock Market Open 11/26/08 - Dow Jones
The Stock Market and Dow Jones are shaking off some bad economic data from this morning and going up off their lows. The Dow Jones opened up down about 140 but has now come back to only down 40 at 8440. As I noted in my Dow Jones Chart, we are stuck in a range from 8300 to 8600. The 10 day moving average is right at 8299 so a close below this would not be good. If we can get a close over 8500 and 8600 I think we start a new leg up vs this latest rally selling off. That is how I am playing it! The 10 day moving average held again this morning, but we still have a lot of trading left. I still have my Mercadolibre MELI position with a stop at $10, my Google ( GOOG ) position with a stop at $276, and a new Chesapeake Energy ( CHK ) position with a stop at $18. I might be a little bit early on CHK but I think if we get a close over $19 it could really start rocking. The real fireworks will happen with a close over $25. Citigroup ( C ) is also breaking out today....check out my chart from yesterday.

Dow Jones Open 11/25/08 - Stock Market
The Stock Market and Dow Jones are opening higher 11/25/08, as the Federal Reserve announced it will buy 600 billion in mortgage backed assets. This has been seen as very positive news. Check out my Dow Jones chart for technical analysis...8500 and 8600 are key levels. Also, Art Cashin pointed out 865 & 872 on the S&P 500. I am watching the QQQQ for a possible breakout above $28.80, or to see what it does at the support level of $27.80.

The Dow Jones and Stock Market's are opening up weaker 11/20/08 as we are seeing following through on selling from yesterday. The Dow Jones is testing the 7773 intraday low and closing lows of Oct 10th, 2008. We actually hit 7776 and bounced. I will note however, Amazon.com ( AMZN ) VERY strong this morning. Watch Apple ( AAPL ) and Exxon Mobile ( XOM )...if these stocks can turn green the market will rally.

Dow Jones Open 11/13/08 - Stock Market
Today, 11/13/08, the Stock Market and Dow Jones are opening higher on the day after Intel ( INTC ) warned that revenue and profit margins would not meet the street expectation. The Nikkei got crush last night, down over 400 points but buyers are stepping into our stock markets today. You would think we would be down big on this this news but Intel and the Stock Markets are actually trading higher.
The Dow Jones at 10:45am Est time is down 16 points at 8266. The Dow Jones hit a low of 8221 today, November 13th, 2008, just 50 points off the low right before the Obama rally. 8175 is a level worth watching. So far every attempt to go at or below 8200 has failed and we rallied.
The Nasdaq is 1489 down 10 points, after hitting a fresh 52 week low of 1478. It is just amazing to see the sellers sell in panic, Apple ( AAPL ), Google ( GOOG ), Amazon.com ( AMZN ), and Research in Motion ( RIMM ). Someone is losing a ton of money by selling this low. These stocks are down 25-50% in one week!
The S&P 500 is up 1 to 853 after hitting a low today of 847.40, 8 points off the 52 week low.
Today's Biggest Gainers 11/13/08
The biggest gainer is a drug stock AMAG Pharmaceuticals ( AMAG ) The company announces ferumoxytol resubmission designated complete, Class 1 response by the FDA. . AMAG is seeking marketing approval for ferumoxytol for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia in patients with all stages of chronic kidney disease, including those on dialysis and those not on dialysis. The stock is up 65% today to $30.11
