Novavax, Inc. (NVAX) continues to run up on swine flu news as this company could have a promising H1N1 vaccine. Support for the stock is currently located at $5.50 with pullbacks below the 10 day moving average becoming a strong buy. On the upside, NVAX has been having trouble closing over $6 where there is major selling Resistance. A close over $6 would be very bullish!

NOVAVAX Achieves Pandemic H1N1 Influenza Production Milestone

cGMP quality material produced in 11 weeks from strain availability

Novavax, Inc. (Nasdaq: NVAX) announced today it has manufactured a virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine candidate against the H1N1 pandemic influenza virus under current good-manufacturing practices (cGMP) at its new vaccine manufacturing facility in Rockville, MD. This milestone was accomplished in only 11 weeks after receiving the gene sequence for the H1N1 strain from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. The Company was able to reach this manufacturing goal by employing proprietary, novel production technology which is not dependent on growing influenza virus in eggs. Chicken eggs are used to produce almost all of the world's influenza vaccine supply. In addition, Novavax has produced essential reagents for measuring vaccine potency. The Company also has plans to produce additional batches of the pandemic H1N1 VLP vaccine to support human clinical studies and stands ready to assist with additional public health needs in the US as well as foreign countries. Vical H1 Influenza Vaccine Delivers Robust Preclinical Results With 100% Response

June 30, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vical Incorporated (Nasdaq:VICL) announced today that the company's vaccine against A/H1N1 pandemic influenza (swine flu) produced robust immune responses well above the accepted protection threshold in 100% of vaccinated mice and rabbits after a standard two-dose vaccine regimen. In addition, at least 75% of vaccinated animals achieved or exceeded the protection threshold after a single dose of vaccine. The company is ready to advance directly to large-scale cGMP manufacturing of the vaccine for human clinical trials, subject to securing external funding for this program.

Swine Flu Stocks: The swine flu stocks took a break on Wednesday but I continue to monitor them. I like these two in particular:

BioCryst Pharmaceuticals Inc. (BCRX)
Gilead Sciences Inc. (GILD)

Converted Organics Inc (COIN) - COIN continues to break out to the upside after releasing more news on Wednesday. I am watch the $1.79 resistance area for Thursday.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - CTIC stock popped in the afternoon hours on Wednesday, I am watching or a breakout above $0.45 resistance level.

Beacon Power Corporation (BCON) - BCON surged in trading Wednesday, will most likely buy some shares if BCON get break $1.00.

The following is a Novavax Inc ( NVAX ) stock technical analysis for April 28, 2009

Novavax Inc. Support & Resistance Levels - 4/28/09

Resistance Levels: $3.15, $3.50, $3.88, $4.35-$4.38

Support Levels: $2.50, $1.93

As you probably know, Novavax ( NVAX ) stock is rising due to the swine flu outbreak. From a technical analysis point of view, NVAX has solid support at the $2.50 level. NVAX closed just above this level on Monday and is now rising back near $3 in pre market trading. There is some nice resistance between $3-$3.15 but then nothing until around $3.30 and then $3.50. If the $3.88 high from Monday is broken, I think NVAX could probably trade up to $4.33-$4.38 area which is a major resistance level. You have big funds that have been trapped in this stock for years waiting to unload in the $4's. It would take a huge outbreak in the swine flu or an actual announcement on a drug to get through this level. Three years ago NVAX was trading at $8 on avian bird flu fears. A close below $2.50 would most likely take NVAX stock back to the 200 day moving average. Come Join the NVAX discussion.

Stocks to Watch - 4/28/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Swine Flu Stocks: The swine flu stocks blasted off on Monday as fears of the flu spreading caused Wall Street to sell off. I will be watching the top swine flu stocks in early trading on Tuesday.

Novavax, Inc. ( NVAX ) - NVAX was trading between $3.26 & $3.88 in the morning but then started the breakdown. After NVAX hit $2.58 it bounced to about $3.04 and then failed again. If NVAX can get back above $3.10 you could see a retest of $3.30-$3.50. If the high of $3.88 is taken out I think NVAX could run into the low $4's. This is what I will be watching for Tuesday.
