The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8024 on 4/27/09, as the stock market was down most of the day on Swine Flu fears. The Dow Jones Futures were down hard in pre market trading but right after stocks opened the major stock market averages went positive. Some of the Top Stories today besides the swine flu outbreak were the General Motors ( GM ) restructuring news and the Chrysler labor agreements. Shares of NVAX, GNBT, and BCRX were the hot stocks today because of the Swine Flu.

From a technical standpoint, the Dow Jones held 8000 on a closing basis despite the futures being very weak this morning. Check out the stocks to watch for tomorrow as well as my new message board.

CTIC stock has had another nice pop lately but has failed to get back above the $0.45 because there is a lot of sell pressure located in that area. CTIC is now trading above the 10 day moving average and is holding this moving average nicely. When I see CTIC break $0.45 I will be taking a position but will take an even bigger position when I see CTIC trade above $0.49. Keep in mind, this is a trading stock so tight stops are needed! Bank of America is trading under the 10 day moving average but has managed to hold $7 on the last sell off. $7.00 is now a critical support level that must hold going forward or there would be some major problems. On the upside, a close above $10 would be very bullish and BAC stock would make a run toward the April high of $11.58. After $11.58, there is not much resistance until $13-$14. GE Support & Resistance Levels - 4/27/09

Resistance Levels: $12.53, $12.73, $14-$16

General Electric has been trading in a very tight range lately with no major pullbacks. There is strong resistance in the mid to high $12 range and if GE stock can break into the $13's, there is a strong chance GE can run back to the $14-$16 range. On the downside, a break below $10.85 would be your first sign of weakness which could lead to bigger problems. $9.78 would then be a level that MUST hold or back down GE stock will go. The following is a little Citigroup ( C ) stock technical analysis for April 27, 2009

Citigroup Support & Resistance Levels - 4/27/09

Resistance Levels: $3.43, $4.00, $4.48, $5.00

Support Levels: $3.00, $2.61, $2.43, $2.25

Citigroup stock is trading back under the 10 day moving average but the fact that the 10 day is over the 50 day moving average makes this less bearish. Pullbacks to the 50 day moving average continue to be bought heavily. The bullish thing about Citi stock right now is the volume. When Citigroup goes up, the volume has been strong. When Citigroup starts to fall or go sideways, the volume dies down....this is bullish.

I would be putting a stop at $3.00 on the downside since Citi has been holding it over the last few days. On the upside, keep an eye on $3.37-$3.43...a break up above that level and its back to $4.00 For More Technical Analysis - Go Here

FAS - FAZ Stock Analysis April 27, 2009

The Direxion Financial Bull 3X Shares ETF ( FAS ) and the Direxion Financial Bear 3X Shares ETF ( FAZ ) have been very active over the past six months. The following is technical analysis on Financial Bull ( FAS ) for 4/27/09. Knowing the support and resistance levels for FAS will help you trade FAZ.

Fas Support and Resistance Levels - April 27, 2009

Resistance Levels: $8.41, $10.05

Support Levels: $7.97, $7.00, $6.00

FAS closed back over the 10 day moving average Friday which is a bullish signal. If I trade FAS I will be using a stop at Friday's low of $7.97. FAS also has support at $7.02 and $7.00. A break below $7 from here on out would be a break down and $6 will be tested again. I plan to jump in FAZ if FAS breaks below $7.97. On the upside, FAS does not have much resistance until the $9.40-$9.50 area and then at the April high of $10.05. A close over $10.05 will spark a new break out so keep an eye on that level.

Financials: Financial Bull ( FAS ) broke back up through $8 and closed at $8.41 which was the April 20 high. All signs point to more upside for FAS with a stop at $7.96. I will then be jumping back into Financial Bear ( FAZ ). Below is a list of other financial stocks I am watching.

Swine Flu: If you haven't heard, the swine flu has taken many lives and left even more sick in Mexico. There have even been some confirmed cases in the United States. Shares of Novavax, Inc. ( NVAX ) & BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc ( BCRX ) soared on Friday and ran up even more in after hours trading. Keep an eye on these two stocks on Monday. Read this aricle. Stock Market Futures

The Dow Jones closed back over 8000 and the 10 day moving average proving once again there is still juice left in this market. The Dow is pressing up against the downtrend line and is trying the break out above it. Next week will be a big test as we will either break up through this level and hold it or continue to trend along down with it. A nice base has formed around 7750, any break below this level would be viewed as bearish. I feel the shorts would then come back on the attack again. I feel once the stress test results are released the market is going to move big one way or the other..stay tuned!

Stock Market April 27, 2009 4/27/09

The Stock Market rallied big on Friday as the stress test parameters were released as well as better then expected new home sales data. These two news items will carry into trading on Monday. Financial Bull 3x ( FAS ) stock went back into the $8.00's and appears to be wanting to go higher.

Auto Bankruptcy: There has been chatter about Chrysler possibly going into bankruptcy soon as a test before a possible General Motors ( GM ) bankruptcy. This is a story you will want to watch daily for the next few months. Ford ( F ) released earnings on Friday and appears to be doing better then expected!
