The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8871 on 11/10/08, as investors dealt shook off a huge stimulus package from China and pushed stocks down for the day. The Stock Market Futures were up big this morning, The Dow Jones futures were actually up 250 at one point but the rally fizzled during the morning trading session and eventually pushed in to negative territory during the afternoon hours. General Motors ( GM ) was downgraded with a price target of Zero, Circuit City ( CC ) went bankrupt, Goldman Sachs ( GS ) continued its free fall, Googles ( GOOG ) price target was cut, and the was very light volume today. These were the reasons for the failed rally today adding to the fact that there was not much buy interest today. I suspect you could see more selling as we start the day Tuesday. A bright spot was AIG today as the stock went up 9% on their earnings results.

Biggest Gainers November 10th, 2008

One of the biggest gainers today was STEM, this stock hit a high of $2.48 per share before retracing all the way back to $2.10 before bouncing at the close. STEM had volume over 10 million shares today.

Another stock I will be watching is Las Vegas Sands ( LVS )....this company reports earnings today. You had a nice short squeeze this afternoon with heavy volume but we'll have to see what the company reports and says in their conference call. Keep an eye on this stock tomorrow.

Stem Cell ( STEM ) 11/10/08 Breakout Stock

Stem Cells ( STEM ) is breaking out today, 11/10/08, up 40% to $2.40. If you can recall, last week I mentioned that if STEM broke $2.28 it would rip higher. We are seeing that this morning as the volume has picked up since the break above $2.28. STEM is one to watch because if this stock can get some volume, it could really be a day traders delight. Support is at $2.28, Resistance is at $2.53.

Also, watch LVS for a break above $7.20 and $7.60, that could get Las vegas Sands running again.

Biggest Gainers Today 11/10/08

AIG

Delta Petroleum (DPTR ) is up 26% today on no news that I can see, maybe a buyout rumor out there since the stock has fallen so much. It's worth keeping an eye on. A break above $6.75 would be very bullish!

This rally today is on the China Stimulus package, China is a big driving force in the global economy, commodities are also rising because of this package.

Friday's rally was asset swapping, people are selling treasuries and buying stocks, hoping for a long term play.

The job losses are not over.

Dow Jones 11/10/08 - Stock Market Analysis

The following chart is technical analysis for the Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DJIA ) going into the 11/10/08 trading session.

Dow Jones Support & Resistance Levels

The Dow Jones appears to have put in another low at $8637.17 on Thursday - this price now acts as support. The Dow Jones has been making higher lows for four weeks which is what you want to see in a bottoming pattern. Support is at 8637, 8500, 8175 - if these are broken on a closing basis, The Dow will test the Oct 10th low of 7773.71. Resistance - The Dow Jones is trending below its 10 day moving average at 9046, this is resistance level #1. Resistance level #2 is Wednesday's close of 9139. Then you have Major resistance at 9654-9794. If the Dow can close above 9795 you have a chance for a sustainable rally to about the 10,000-10,262 level and the October 10th bottom should be in. A close above 9794 will open some eyes because this will be the first time two highs were taken out on a closing basis for a long time. I think you can then break out that Dow 10,000 hat that has been collecting dust in your closet from 1999 or 2004. Whats so significant about 10,262? 10,262 is where we closed at on the day of the Bailout Package being passed. What was the high that day? 10844.
