General Electric GE Dividend Cut 2/27/09 - Haynesville Shale

General Electric ( GE ) will cut their dividend from .31 cents per quarter to .10 cents per quarter starting in the 3rd quarter of 2009. GE hasn't officially announced this but David Faber of CNBC has announced this.

GE will save 9 billion dollars a year with this dividend cut as it will come down from $1.24 per year to $0.40 per year.

GE stock spiked to $9.00 on this news but has since tanked to around $8.60 per share. Right now the stock appears to be all over the place but the spike to $9 brought the Dow Jones back to even on the trading day.

In other General Electric news today, February 27, 2009, GE is getting into the Haynesville Shale:

Natural gas processor and transporter Regency Energy Partners LP on Friday said that it, along with Alinda Capital Partners LLC and an affiliate of GE Energy Financial Services, are forming a joint venture to finance and construct Regency's Haynesville expansion project.

Dallas-based Regency will contribute to the joint venture its Regency Intrastate Gas System in North Louisiana, valued at $400 million, in exchange for a 38 percent general partnership stake in the venture. GE Energy Financial Services and Alinda Capital Partners LLC will contribute to the joint venture $126.5 million and $526.5 million in cash for a 12 percent and a 50 percent stake, respectively.

The North Louisiana pipeline will transport gas from the Haynesville shale formation, one of the fastest growing U.S. natural gas fields, which stretches through parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.

Being the founder of www.oilshalegas.com, I have done extensive research on all the energy shale plays in the USA and Canada. The haynesville shale, located in Louisiana and East Texas, has the potential to be the biggest natural gas field in America. If one day we convert our vehicles to compressed natural gas, the haynesville shale has enough gas to support this. The Marcellus Shale is up there as well!

Pre Market Trading - Stock Market 10/16/08, Citigroup C Earnings, CHK

After a wild week, Citigroup ( C ) delivered some better then expected earnings ( or lack there of ) This morning, 10/16/08, Citi lost .60 cents per share, or 2.81 Billion for the 3rd quarter.

Total assets declined by 50 billion since the 2nd quarter. Yes, this report looks grim, but Citigroup ( C ) will in fact survive and that is making the stock rise a bit in pre market trading to $16.87.

Stocks to Watch 10/16/08:

Watch Chesapeake Energy ( CHK ). Again yesterday, this stock was crushed, but I'm seeing some signs of early bidders coming back to the stock. You could potentially catch a nice gain in this stock if you play it right. Buy the stock when it breaks the high of day. Chesapeake Energy is a major driller in the best natural gas field, Haynesville Shale

Google ( GOOG ) reports earnings tonight.....this will be a stock to watch also. EBay reported in line earnings last night but their guidance was horrible. Google does not give guidance.

CHK Chesapeake Energy 9/15/08 Technical Analysis

Technical Analysis for Chesapeake Energy ( CHK ) - Support and Resistance Levels

CHK has been a stock that has gotten hammered with lower energy prices. Chesapeake appears to have made a new low last week at $38.10. This low is support for now and it appears as though a reverse head and shoulders pattern is forming with $38.10 being the top of the head. This formation signifies a bear trend bottom and when the last shoulder is formed, the stock forms a bullish breakout and starts a new uptrend.

It is a bit early to tell this but the ingredients are coming together as the winter heating season is upon us. I am looking to get long on a close over $42.50 in which you could easily see a run back to the $48-$50 level.

Chesapeake Energy ( CHK ) has great fundamentals and at below $40 per share, you are getting the biggest shale play, The Haynesville Shale, for free!

Technical Analysis: Visa ( V ) Ivanhoe Energy ( IVAN ) Stock Charts

This morning I updated my Visa ( V ), First Solar ( FSLR ), DryShips ( DRYS ), and Ivanhoe Energy ( IVAN ) technical analysis stock charts.

Visa ( V ) is one that really sticks out to me as this stock is getting ready to move hard one way or under. It has formed triangle pattern and is near the breaking point, either a break out or a break down. A close below $69 would be a break down....a close above $76.40 could start a nice breakout. Keep an eye on this stock!

The Haynesville Shale stocks have been hot over the past few days.....CHK and XTO. Keep an eye on these stocks as they have gotten slaughtered over the past month. If Nat gas and Oil move higher these will move even bigger.
