The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9544 on 8/26/09, as the stock market traded flat most of the day after better then expected new home sales. The Dow Jones Futures started the day lower but stocks rallied right after the open. For most of the trading day, the stock market zig-zagged between positive and negative territory. Tomorrow we will receive the initial jobless claims data from last week at 8:30am EST. This will be a market moving event! Check out some of the events I will be watching for Thursday. Stocks to Watch - 8/26/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Citigroup hit support at $4.68 and then bounce near $4.80 Tuesday. Resistance continues to be located at $5. As soon as Citigroup breaks and closes $5, it will become marginable for retail investors and big funds will be allowed to own the stock again. This alone will probably drive the stock to $5.25-$5.50.

Human Genome Sciences Inc. (HGSI) - HGSI continues to rise on a buyout rumor. $20 is resistance.

Fannie Mae (FNM) - Resistance $2, $2.13

Freddie Mac (FRE) - Resistance - $2.35

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - Resistance - $35, $35.45 & $38.40. I will be a buyer of pullbacks below $31 with a stop at $29.99. AIG had a false breakout Monday due to the gap over $35. The stock remains very strong however!

Universal Bioenergy, Inc. (UBRG.PK) - If you link Pink Sheets stocks, watch UBRG....up over 1,000% on Tuesday

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (SIRI) - Resistance - close over $0.75, Support in the low $0.60's where I'd become a buyer. Jim Cramer gave some bearish comments on SIRI Monday night, basically calling it a junk stock. Years ago, he was telling everyone to Buy Buy Buy at $5.00.

Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (HEB) - HEB soared yesterday when the swine flu report came out and suggested 30-50% of American's will get swine flu this winter. The stock is now back to $2 which should hold. I will be waiting to see what happens in the next few days before I get involved again. HEB is a great trading stock though so what it closely!

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - CTIC is back at support around $1.60. Expecting to hear back from the FDA on September 4, 2009 about Fast Track status. Resistance - $1.85

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - FAS continues to hold Friday's low of $74.29. For a quick trade, I will be buying FAZ is FAS breaks below $74.29. A close over $79.36 would be bullish for FAS.

Bidu baidu.com Stock Analysis 8/26/08 - BIDU Technical Analysis August 26th, 2008

Last week I took a long position in BIDU at $304....also took a position in Google ( GOOG ) at $490. I have only taken half positions so far as with this crappy stock market, these can always go lower.

Baidu ( BIDU ) Technical Analysis:

On 8/25/08....BIDU shot into the $330's briefly in the morning before selling off the rest of the day. This is concerning if you are a trader of BIDU...as this could signal a short term top at $330. Last week BIDU held very strong in the $320's and could just be forming a base here. I would get long on a close above $330 if I were a trader or add to my long position. As for GOOG, go long on a close over $500.

Visa ( V ): China Life ( LFC ) cuts stake by 50% - 8/26/08

China Life Insurance Co. (LFC) has slashed its holding in Visa Inc. (V) by half, the nation's largest life insurer by premiums said in its first-half report Tuesday.

The document, posted on the Hong Kong stock exchange Web site, showed China Life held 3 million Visa shares by the end of June, down from the 6 million it subscribed to when the credit-card company listed in March.

The document didn't disclose the gains the insurer made from the stake sale.
China Life bought US$260 million worth of Visa shares when the company raised nearly US$20 billion from the U.S.'s largest initial public offering in March.
Visa priced the 446.6 million IPO shares at US$44 each.

Elan ( ELN ) Biogen ( BIIB ) Tysabri Update - MS Drug 8/26/08

Last night, Biogen ( BIIB ) came out with an update regard the multiple sclerosis drug, Tysabri, which they are co developing with Elan ( ELN ) corporation.

The FDA is working with the companies to amend the product labeling to inform patients of the two cases. A company spokeswoman said the updated label will be based on the two cases, which the company had confirmed in late July.

The patients had been taking the drug, as a sole treatment for multiple sclerosis, for more than a year, according to an alert the FDA issued to health-care professionals that was posted on the agency's Web site Monday.

This is great news for both companies, I expect them to move high in the coming weeks and months. If the patients in Europe that has this brain disorder die however; it could have negative implications on the these two stocks.
