Art Cashin is a floor trader in the NYSE and is one of the best market direction predictors we have. His predictions are incredible.
So with the markets crashing this morning Art Cashin calmly came on CNBC and gave his predictions:
Art Cashin has been calling for this ugly capitulation move all week when the market failed to move higher when the Dow was trading above 9000 this week. Art says if this downturn happens his way, we will see a huge move down today followed by a jaw dropping rally that could last many months. He says it could all be taken care of today but the selling could last into Monday, 10/27/08. Art Cashin says this will be a move in the stock market we will be talking about for a long time.
What do to? Put in " silly bids"
Art says if you like a stock at $20.....put in limit orders for $11 and $13...and maybe even $8....sell puts, atleast you will get paid to lose money.

Art Cashin CNBC 11/18/08 - HPQ News
Art Cashin of UBS was on CNBC this morning 11/18/08. Below are Art Cashin's comments.
HPQ news was good news, technology stocks have been badly beaten down, The Hewlett Packard News is a sigh of relief, don't know if its a turnaround for the markets though.
As far as testing the lows goes, the lows testing we have been doing lately is raising some concern. Each bounce off the lows is weaker, if we restest the lows and break down, we could really spiral down.
The PPT ( Plunge Protection Program ) is nonsense, Art Cashin doesn't think the Government is buying the S&P's every time we plunge to spark a rally like a previous guest on CNBC had eluded too.

Art Cashin CNBC 3/24/09 March 24, 2009
Art Cashin was on CNBC this morning, March 24, 2009 - and gave some comments about the explosive rally we saw yesterday. Art Cashin came on CNBC around 2:30pm and said yesterday's stock market rally would either start to fade or we will have a fireworks explosion to the upside. The Dow Jones ended up going up an additional 200 points!
Art Cashin Comments -3/24/09
How impressive was the rally?
It was a stand out day, 97% of nyse stocks traded up, the VIX didn't pullback, but you can't take anything away from the rally. This current rally ranks in the Top 10 rallies. We punched through 804 resistance on the S&P 500, we are now overbought, we will have to rest here and wait to see what comes out of Washington.
Toxic Asset Comments:
Will the sellers sell at low prices?
If they sell, what will they do with the money? Probably pay the TARP back as quick as they can, they don't want the mother in the kitchen ( Washington ). Goldman Sachs came out yesterday and said they would do this.

Art Cashin CNBC 12/05/08 - Jobs Report
Art Cashin of UBS, came on CNBC today, 12/5/08, and gave comments on the Jobs Report and what he is looking for after this number was released.
Art said this looked like the time back in 1973-1974 where we had similar jobs numbers, they took the market down 50% going into the horrible data just like they did over the past year in 2008.
Art Cashin says look for a few things today - look for 8140 support on the Dow Jones, similar to what I am looking for, & 815 as support on the S&P 500. The bulls might face this number, maybe rally strongly, possibly already discounting the news. We will have to see what happens later today.

Art Cashin CNBC 11/20/08 - Stock Market Comments
Art Cashin of UBS was on CNBC, 11/20/08, and gave some comments and opinion on the stock market. You can find all of Art Cashin's comments HERE
Art Cashin November 20th, 2008:
We have to take a look at the mark to market accounting rules because obviously nothing else is working right now, they are zeroing in on Citigroup C and other banks.
Today, we need to see if the Dow Jones tests and holds the Oct 10th intra day low level of 7773, see if it produces a meaningful bounce, if it breaks, you are probably looking at some cascade selling that follows. But for now, let hope 7773 on the Dow holds today.

Art Cashin CNBC 11/25/08 - Market Bottom?
Art Cashin came on CNBC 11/25/08 and gave some comments on the current stock market conditions and his opinion on a possible stock market bottom.
Art Cashin Comments: November 25, 2008
The further away from the bottom you get, the more credible it becomes....we are watching volume to see if this can hold. We are watching levels on the S&P 500 of 865 and 872 as resistance levels.
People were waiting yesterday for sellers to come in the last half hour, they didn't arrive, so that made buyers scramble to buy.
We still have to give this rally a little more time to figure it out, is this just another bear market rally? Some say we have another leg down to go. For more comments from Art Cashin, go HERE

Art Cashin Comments CNBC 12/04/08 - Bottom?
Art Cashin, UBS Floor Trader on the NYSE, was on CNBC 12/4/08 and gave his comments on the stock market today.
Art Cashin CNBC Comments 12/4/08
With the News today, is there any way we can shake it off?
A lot of this negative economic stuff is kinda of catch up news priced in, its a good sign to get negative news and close up on the stock markets. We are still in a trading range, but its comforting to be closing up on bad news. This is a sign the market is bottoming!
Do you have a jobs number that's priced into the market for tomorrow? 300-350,000 is priced in, i'm hearing a number as high as 400,000 jobs lost tomorrow. Revisions will be something to watch as October's job loss could get revised higher.
We think the big three automakers will get some sort of bailout.

Today, 12/8/08, Art Cashin floor trader from UBS was on CNBC and gave comments on the stocm market bounce we are getting this morning.
Art Cashin Comments - December 8th, 2008
I still feel good about the markets, we had a nice reversal Friday, closed up on bad news, bottoming process, won't go all in until next week, we could have another bump in the road due to some cycles coming together.
The Santa Claus rally might be beginning, and if you listen closely, you might hear sleigh bells.

Art Cashin was on CNBC this morning, July 1, 2009 - and gave some comments about what he is seeing in the stock market right now. Art is a floor trader from UBS on the NYSE as well as a CNBC contributor.
Art Cashin Comments - July 1, 2009
I think the market would really like to rally, so there is usually slight prejudice in the first three trading days of the month as well as going into a holiday weekend.
The enemy of all this is that the trading is so light that any piece of news could really move that market in either direction

Art Cashin, floor trader with UBS, has come on CNBC today, February 27, 2009, and gave some comments on Citigroup and the overall stock market as we plunge to new lows in pre market.
Art Cashin CNBC comments 2/27/09
Art what happened today?
We will have to see what happens in the next 60 days, saw some signs of this yesterday with Sallie Mae SLM. The market is testing the lows this morning.
President Obama has a lot of political capital but he seems to using it up, the gallop poll has him lower then Bush in the first month of Presidency, its confusing.
Citigroup News:
Dilution, Citi avoided death, were aren't going to kill then but we will break both of their arms.
If we break 740 on the S&P 500 and this could be a very tough week coming up next week.

Art Cashin, floor trader on the NYSE, was on CNBC this morning and gave several stock market related comments on what he is seeing.
Art Cashin Comments -3/12/09
Art, what do you think about the mark to market rule?
On Mark to Market - we saw futures tick up on the PA congressman's comments on suspending the accounting rule. If they can pull it off you could see this rally have legs. We are pushing for an adjustment or suspension of the mark to market rule....its not to cover up things, its to prevent ridiculous pricing of things in the market place
What is your opinion of the stock market right now?
I think what we want to watch is 740-745 on the S&P 500...Also support is 713 and we need to stay above 700. On the Dow, we have resistance at 7000-7025
Things are getting interesting!

I think we will know the coarse of the stock market by July 17, 2009. Whether we retest the lows or not, we will have an answer by the end of next week. As far as earnings go, I an discounting the earnings and focusing on the outlook.
The first stimulus package was part illusion and hope, we misused it, we may not be able to help ourselves now the we actually need it.

Art Cashin Comments January 14, 2009
Retail sales were ugly this morning combined with the concern over Tim Geithner as Treasury Secretary. For the start of the year, we had rally - people are staying away from the market in case Geithner does not get in there due to these tax problems.
Some people are saying the blow to financials could effect New York real estate industry in a big way.
Optimism? We stopped rallying on bad news - this is not good! We are at key levels in the markets, for the S&P 500, keep an eye on 850, if that fails we could give back all of November's rally.

Art Cashin Comments - CNBC - December 1, 2008
There was some hope that some of the Fed's action were working last week....the market is down because of some economic things out of China. Friday's data is going to get worse and worse and worse, but the market will turn well before the economic data gets better. Rallies in bear markets are short, sharp, and die in low volume.

Art Cashin CNBC 10/28/08 - Rally for Stocks? Capitulation
Art Cashin CNBC - 10/28/08
Art Cashing was on cnbc today, October 28th, 2008 and he has these things to say, and it almost sounded like he will soon be giving in if we can stage a little rally today. There is a feeling down here on the floor that there is about to happen whether its to the upside or downside, we don't know yet. Everything that happened recently as far as capitulation happened in other continents - if we could have only done it here in the US markets it would been so easy, you get the huge sell off and then you back up the truck. This rally could hold, however but it would just be so simple to get capitulation over with.
The thing that has been denying the big sell off I have been expecting is the fact that its to late to sell, people don't react to the big sell offs anymore. I think at this time, You need an event to happen, something major to get forced selling where everyone throws in the towel...whether we get that or not...we'll have to see.

Art Cashin was on CNBC this morning, March 17, 2009 - and gave some comments about the stock market on St Patrick's Day 2009.
Art Cashin Comments -3/17/09
Is the stock market rally / bounce over?
The jury still out, yesterday the market go ahead of itself, hit some resistance around 7400, and then closed down. We would not like to have two down days in a row.....more down action could take us down to retest 720 on the S&P 500.
If this rally isn't the real deal we will fail badly, but from that will spring the real rally.
Whats next?
Watching for what comes out of TALF, if that doesn't work, the Fed might get aggressive and go in and buy toxic assets.

Art Cashin, floor trader on the NYSE, was on CNBC this morning and gave several stock market related comments on what he is seeing.
Art Cashin Comments -3/13/09
Should we be worried because we've rallied so much?
We do have to have some concern, this is starting to look like a crowded trade - all of a sudden everyone is bullish on the stock market.
Also Volume is holding up only on short covering - you see heavy volume going into the bank sector but light volume everywhere else.
We closed at the top yesterday, closing at the top is usually followed by sideways action or down
I guess this rally needs to prove itself!

Art Cashin CNBC 11/07/08 - Retest Lows - Jobs Number
Art Cashin was on CNBC today, 11/07/08, here are Art Cashin's comments on the stock market.
I'm a little surprised, I thought we'd be weak this morning because of the revision, and its equal to this jobs number being over 300,000 lost. Barack Obama is going to speak this afternoon at 2pm, I wish he would have waited until after the close today but we'll be watching.
Art, what is the likely hood we retest the lows?
I think there is a 50% chance we go down and retest the lows in some fashion, watch the S&P 500, if we break through 900 and 880 the percentage goes up.
If we test and fail to hold the lows we will have a very short, very sharp plunge and then build a monster reversal rally that will last. You can commit some funds on the way down to prepare for a reversal that will follow.

Art Cashin CNBC 11/14/08 Capitulation Comments
Art Cashin of UBS was on CNBC this morning, 11/14/08, and gave some comments on yesterdays rally.
It was as close to capitulation as you could have come....the Dow Jones held its lows, we made a big reversal off the lows and rallied. I would have liked more volume but we got around 2 billion in volume which is good. The only downside was the financials didn't really participate in the big rally yesterday, but we'll take it!
We are going to retest the rally this morning and see how we hold up.
I got what I wanted yesterday, today, 11/14/08, should be another volatile day, we will get a better feel as to what we do next week.

Art Cashin CNBC 11/21/08 - Citigroup C
Art Cashin was on CNBC this morning, 11/21/08, talking about the markets and Citigroup C.
I think the rumor mongers are still into this game, we just need things to calm down and it will be fine with Citigroup (C).
Options expiration today: We have to see what they do in the final hour... maybe we tip toe into the weekend, regroup Monday, and maybe see if we are in the bottoming phase next week.
