Art Cashin CNBC 11/21/08 - Citigroup C

Art Cashin was on CNBC this morning, 11/21/08, talking about the markets and Citigroup C.

I think the rumor mongers are still into this game, we just need things to calm down and it will be fine with Citigroup (C).

Options expiration today: We have to see what they do in the final hour... maybe we tip toe into the weekend, regroup Monday, and maybe see if we are in the bottoming phase next week.

Art Cashin CNBC 11/20/08 - Stock Market Comments

Art Cashin of UBS was on CNBC, 11/20/08, and gave some comments and opinion on the stock market. You can find all of Art Cashin's comments HERE

Art Cashin November 20th, 2008:

We have to take a look at the mark to market accounting rules because obviously nothing else is working right now, they are zeroing in on Citigroup C and other banks.

Today, we need to see if the Dow Jones tests and holds the Oct 10th intra day low level of 7773, see if it produces a meaningful bounce, if it breaks, you are probably looking at some cascade selling that follows. But for now, let hope 7773 on the Dow holds today.

Art Cashin CNBC 11/18/08 - HPQ News

Art Cashin of UBS was on CNBC this morning 11/18/08. Below are Art Cashin's comments.

HPQ news was good news, technology stocks have been badly beaten down, The Hewlett Packard News is a sigh of relief, don't know if its a turnaround for the markets though.

As far as testing the lows goes, the lows testing we have been doing lately is raising some concern. Each bounce off the lows is weaker, if we restest the lows and break down, we could really spiral down.

The PPT ( Plunge Protection Program ) is nonsense, Art Cashin doesn't think the Government is buying the S&P's every time we plunge to spark a rally like a previous guest on CNBC had eluded too.

Art Cashin CNBC 11/14/08 Capitulation Comments

Art Cashin of UBS was on CNBC this morning, 11/14/08, and gave some comments on yesterdays rally.

It was as close to capitulation as you could have come....the Dow Jones held its lows, we made a big reversal off the lows and rallied. I would have liked more volume but we got around 2 billion in volume which is good. The only downside was the financials didn't really participate in the big rally yesterday, but we'll take it!

We are going to retest the rally this morning and see how we hold up.

I got what I wanted yesterday, today, 11/14/08, should be another volatile day, we will get a better feel as to what we do next week.

Art Cashin CNBC 11/07/08 - Retest Lows - Jobs Number

Art Cashin was on CNBC today, 11/07/08, here are Art Cashin's comments on the stock market.

I'm a little surprised, I thought we'd be weak this morning because of the revision, and its equal to this jobs number being over 300,000 lost. Barack Obama is going to speak this afternoon at 2pm, I wish he would have waited until after the close today but we'll be watching.

Art, what is the likely hood we retest the lows?

I think there is a 50% chance we go down and retest the lows in some fashion, watch the S&P 500, if we break through 900 and 880 the percentage goes up.

If we test and fail to hold the lows we will have a very short, very sharp plunge and then build a monster reversal rally that will last. You can commit some funds on the way down to prepare for a reversal that will follow.

Art Cashin CNBC 10/29/08 - Bottom Call, Yen Comments

Art Cashin was on CNBC 10/29/09 and he had these comments to say:

Tuesday the Yen skyrocketed and you had the g7 intervention which crushed the carry trade, we then had selling everywhere.

When the Yen eased it started a rally, everyone waited to see if the last hour sellers would show up, they didn't show, it sparked a huge rally.

This afternoon, a 50 point rate cut is priced into the market and we are hoping to hear the credit markets are easing from the Federal Reserve. If we get a .25 cut, you would see a sell off....but then again the market might say, wait a minute, things might not be so bad if they only cut .25 and they might rally it.

Monday we retested the lows and rallied Tuesday....this rally might actually have legs and you might be able to start buying the dips, we'll have to wait and see.

I think this bottom is a temporary bottom, not the final bottom, but we might rally into the end of the year but in 2009 we should get the real bottom.

Art Cashin CNBC 10/28/08 - Rally for Stocks? Capitulation

Art Cashin CNBC - 10/28/08

Art Cashing was on cnbc today, October 28th, 2008 and he has these things to say, and it almost sounded like he will soon be giving in if we can stage a little rally today. There is a feeling down here on the floor that there is about to happen whether its to the upside or downside, we don't know yet. Everything that happened recently as far as capitulation happened in other continents - if we could have only done it here in the US markets it would been so easy, you get the huge sell off and then you back up the truck. This rally could hold, however but it would just be so simple to get capitulation over with.
The thing that has been denying the big sell off I have been expecting is the fact that its to late to sell, people don't react to the big sell offs anymore. I think at this time, You need an event to happen, something major to get forced selling where everyone throws in the towel...whether we get that or not...we'll have to see.

Art Cashin 10/24/08 - Sign of a Bottom Capitulation

Art Cashin is a floor trader in the NYSE and is one of the best market direction predictors we have. His predictions are incredible.

So with the markets crashing this morning Art Cashin calmly came on CNBC and gave his predictions:

Art Cashin has been calling for this ugly capitulation move all week when the market failed to move higher when the Dow was trading above 9000 this week. Art says if this downturn happens his way, we will see a huge move down today followed by a jaw dropping rally that could last many months. He says it could all be taken care of today but the selling could last into Monday, 10/27/08. Art Cashin says this will be a move in the stock market we will be talking about for a long time.

What do to? Put in " silly bids"

Art says if you like a stock at $20.....put in limit orders for $11 and $13...and maybe even $8....sell puts, atleast you will get paid to lose money.

Capitulation 10/8/08 ? Stocks Set to Rebound?

The Stock Market has shook off a global rate cut today so far.....Dow Jones was up over 250 points in pre market but has since gone down 400 points off the highs.

Look for a major washout early followed by a rally going into the end of the day.....if we can tank and then end positive today...that could be the capitulation bottom everyone is loking for.

You need to see everyone selling everything...and then a strong rally with HEAVY volume....no major pullbacks on the way up....just a surge in buying.

Lets see if it happens today!
