The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9742 on 9/29/09, as the stock market sold off after a worse the expected consumer confidence report. The Dow Jones Futures began the day down slightly lower but the stock market opened up higher to start the trading day. At 10am EST, the consumer confidence report was released and stock began to sell off. Several rally attempts failed throughout the day and the stock market ended lower.

Tomorrow is the last day of the quarter so I would expect typical window dressing to take hold all day. Fund managers that missed key winning stocks will add them to their portfolio to show their clients they own the companies. Since the Dow is up around 16% this quarter, I would expect some nice buying to come into the stock market tomorrow.

In other stock news, shares Starbucks Corp. (SBUX) were down slightly despite the company leaping into the 21 billion dollar instant coffee market.

CIT Group and IndyMac to Merge?

September 29, 2009 - Shares of CIT Group, Inc. (CIT) are exploding in pre market this morning on the rumor that CIT and IndyMac could potentially merge. CIT Group, Inc. ( CIT ) stock is Up 23% to $2.05.

Looking at the chart, CIT is breaking above the $1.84 & $1.86 highs from the past three months. The next major resistance area I see would be between $2.25-$2.50

Citigroup stock was on fire again Monday after briefly testing the 10 day moving average of Friday. I continue to like all pullbacks to the 10 day moving average with a stop at $4.36 which was the low on Friday. Stocks to Watch - 9/29/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Tri-Valley Corp. (TIV) - TIV stock soared on Monday. I am watching two levels of resistance located at $3.05 & $3.59. If TIV breaks up through $3.05, it could really run.

Luna Innovations Incorporated (LUNA) - LUNA continues to surge on no news. This is more of a momentum stock, once the music stops, it could really drop hard. I am watching the high on Froday of $3.29. If LUNA breaks through that high, I will probably jump in for a quick trade.

Novavax, Inc. (NVAX) - NVAX is finally rebounding after getting crushed over the past month. All of a sudden, you don't hear much about swine flu or news out of the company. I won't trade this stock unless it breaks above $5. There is major resistance between $4.70-$4.90.

CEL-SCI Corp. (CVM) - CVM started to heat up late in the afternoon on Monday albeit on low volume. Resistance is located at $1.90.

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - AIG was back trading above $46 on Monday. The next major resistance levels are located around $49 and then $50. I will buy AIG again when it breaks above $50 for a quick trade.

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Citigroup broke above $4.51 on Monday afternoon, very bullish. I continue ti like pullbacks to the 10 day moving average ( currently located at $4.39 ).

Bank of America Corp (BAC) - Bank of America Corporation is still trading below the 10 day moving average at $17.21. When this changes, BAC should move higher and retest $18.24 again.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS) - Resistance $18.......Support $16.80

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - FAS ripped above $80.20 and added another 4% gain during the afternoon on Monday. The next major resistance level to watch is $84. I will be FAZ for a trade if the stock breaks below $80.

YRC Worldwide Inc. (YRCW) - YRCW is basing after a large mover lower last week. I will be buying the stock when it breaks above $5 again.

Discovery Laboratories DSCO FDA 9/29/09

Don't forget - Discovery Laboratories Inc. (DSCO) is expected to meet with the FDA September 29, 2009 on marketing approval for lung cancer drug Surfaxin. Expect the stock to be active before and after this meeting.


Discovery Laboratories, Inc. (Nasdaq:DSCO) has received written notification from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that a meeting has been scheduled for September 29, 2009. This meeting will serve as a follow-up to the June 2 meeting with the FDA and the FDA’s April 17 Complete Response letter. The objective of this meeting is to define the options available to Discovery Labs to resolve the remaining primary issue that Discovery Labs must address to gain U.S. marketing approval of Surfaxin® (lucinactant) for the prevention of Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) in premature infants.

At the upcoming September 29 meeting, Discovery Labs plans to discuss with the FDA a limited Surfaxin clinical trial design and whether conducting such trial, while simultaneously employing the fetal rabbit Biological Activity Test (BAT, a quality control and stability release test), could potentially address the key remaining requirement for Surfaxin approval.
