Stocks to Watch - 5/6/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Financials: The bank stocks appear to be heating up again as the stress test results get closer. The main financial stock I watch is the Financial Bull 3x ( FAS ). FAS stock hit $10 Tuesday morning, $0.05 shy of the April 2009 high. As you can see from my FAS chart, this is a big resistance area. Do you think the stock market has topped? If you do, you might want to buy some Financial Bear ( FAZ ) either as a short play or to protect your long positions. When you see FAS break through $10.05, you can sell FAZ at a small loss and re access.

Citigroup ( C ) - Citigroup stock broke out Tuesday morning above the $3.35 high back in late April. The daily high was $3.47 on Tuesday which is the only resistance level holding Citi from testing $3.89 and above. Volume is very strong!!

Bank of America ( BAC ) - BAC stock hit $11.12 Tuesday morning, just shy of the mid April high of $11.58. A break above $11.58 and I think you will see further upside.

Pacific Ethanol, Inc. (PEIX) - PEIX stock is breaking out on no news. I am watching $0.68 resistance which is the high of 2009. If PEIX takes out $0.68, I don't see any selling pressure until at least $0.90.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - CTIC will close above previous resistance of $0.49 Tuesday. The next level I see is the 200 day moving average located at $0.78. I will be buying pullbacks back to $0.49 and under.

MGM Mirage (MGM) - The casino stocks such as MGM and LVS have been on fire. MGM could go back to the 200 day moving average before the sellers step in. The 200 day moving average is located at $14.92. After $14.92, there is resistance at $16.89.

Ambac Financial Group, Inc. (ABK) - ABK stock was breaking out all day Tuesday. Currently at $1.30, I don't see anything until the $1.60-$1.75 area.

Boeing Co. (BA) - Jim Cramer was out Tuesday saying he is putting a buy on Boeing and it is ready for a bounce. Jim Cramer thinks BA is the cheapest stock in the Dow Jones.

Stocks to Watch - 5/5/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Financials: The bank stocks surged higher Monday after pending home sales were up 3.2% in March. Here is a list of financials I am watching:

Financial Bull 3x ( FAS ) - FAS has resistance at $8.91 and support around $8.00. A close above $9.00 would be huge for this stock but many people are on the sidelines until the stress test results are released May 7th. If FAS starts to look weak, you can always jump into Financial Bear 3x ( FAZ ).

Citigroup ( C ) - Citi has been turning around lately and I will make a quick trade on a break up through $3.28. When Citigroup stock closes over $3.43, I think there could be a nice break out to the upside. Every time Citigroup has retraced back to $2.60-$2.70 it has been quickly bought up. Regarding the stress test, Wall Street doesn't seem to mind that Citi will need to raise another 10 billion.

Bank of America ( BAC ) - Watching $9.89, a close above $9.89 will bring further upside to BAC stock. I don't see any resistance until $11.23. Wall Street seems to be ok with B of A needing more capital.

Wells Fargo ( WFC ) - Jim Cramer has a price target of $26 which was made the day WFC stock soared as they pre announced earnings. Only $3 away right now.

China Precision Steel, Inc. (CPSL) - CPSL stock was gaining on Monday due to the better then expected China Manufacturing data. CPSL is now approaching prices not seen since the first week of October 2008. I am watching $2.80, $2.98, and $3.43 resistance levels. I feel if one is broken, the next one will be tested. Another China stock that was surging today was China Direct, Inc. (CDII) - 15 times normal volume.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - CTIC stock continues to trend higher after a small correction in pre market trading this morning. I am still watching for a close above $0.49 for the fireworks to begin in my opinion.

Stocks to Watch - 4/23/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Financials: The financial stocks such as Citigroup ( C ), Bank of America ( BAC ), Wells Fargo ( WFC ), Financials Bull 3x ( FAS ), and Financial Bear 3x ( FAZ ) were all over the place on Wednesday. Expect the volatility to continue! FAS has short term support at $7 and $6.00.

Lear Corp. (LEA) - Lear broke out to the upside Wednesday on no news. LEA now trades above the 10 day moving average at $0.93. I will be watching for a break back up through $1.00 before I start trading this stock.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - CTIC broke out on huge volume Wednesday on no news. The volume was 5 times normal daily volume. Looking at the charts, CTIC has support around $0.37-$0.38 and resistance between $0.43-$0.45 as well as $0.49. For some reason, CTIC has been a very popular stock lately. We could be looking at the start of a nice break out!

Stocks to Watch - 4/3/09 - Stock Market Ideas

- Employment Report & Unemployment Rate due out 8:30am EST - I will be waiting until after this data is released to trade.

Financials: The bank stocks rallied hard as the market opened Thursday but retraced through out the day. At 2pm they started going back up again but I would have thought financials would have been stronger today. I continue to trade Financial Bull ( FAS ) but got stopped out at the 50 day moving average ( now $6.54 ). I then moved into Financial Bear ( FAZ ) and sold for a profit. I will be trading FAS above $6 and if FAS goes below $6, I will be trading FAZ tomorrow.

Other Financials to Watch:

Citigroup ( C ) - Needs to hold $2.70 and get above $3
Bank of America ( BAC ) - Needs to hold $7
American International Group ( AIG ) - Needs to hold $1.00
General Electric ( GE ) - Needs to get above $11

Hot Stocks 2/20/09 - Biggest Gainers Today


Career Education - CECO - $22.47 Up 14.29% - Career Education 4Q profit up, revenue down. Career Education 4th-qtr profit more than triples on fewer costs, but revenue falls.

Financial Bear 3X - FAZ - $78.59 Up 11.95% - FAZ was $40 before Timothy Geithner unveiled his failed banking rescue plan. FAZ then jumped 11% right after the speech. FAZ is up 95% in less then two weeks.

Crocs - CROX - $1.35 Up 11.57% - Crocs releases earnings - Crocs posts 4Q loss on slow sales, stronger dollar.
