The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9509 on 8/24/09, as the stock market traded higher in the morning but sold off in the afternoon. The Dow Jones Futures opened pre market higher due to strength in the Asian Markets. The Dow Jones was up over 80 points during the morning trading session but pulled back during the afternoon due to weakness in the financials. Stocks such as Citigroup ( C ) and Bank of America ( BAC ) made highs right after the open but then led the stock market lower late in the day. The stock market volume continues to be very low and will be low for the next few weeks. Today's late day sell off could just be the start of a move back to the 10 day moving average but I am not concerned. Wall St will receive some major economic data tomorrow - Check out some of the events I will be watching for Tuesday. If you are trading, take a look at my Stocks to Watch Report for tomorrow.

The BDI data is critical for how the DryBulk Shipping Stocks such as DryShips Inc ( DRYS ), Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd( EXM ), Diana Shipping Inc ( DSX ), Genco Shipping & Trading Limited ( GNK ), TBS International Limited ( TBSI ), Navios Maritime ( NM ), Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. Stocks to Watch - 8/24/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Citigroup was on fire Friday after breaking up through $4.48 and closing over the 200 day moving average on Thursday. Resistance is located at the high on Friday of $4.86 and $5.00. I will be buying any pullbacks to $4.48 and the 200 day moving average. Check out my Citigroup Technical Analysis

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - AIG failed at the $35 resistance level again Friday. I will be buying pullbacks below $30 with at $29.99. AIG stock should see a pop when $35 is finally broken to the upside.

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (SIRI) - Waiting for SIRI stock to close above $0.75. I would like to buy any pullbacks into the low $0.60's. Check out my SIRI Techincal Analysis.

Freddie Mac (FRE) - Continues to surge higher but failed to close above $1.89 resistance. Love pullbacks to $1.50 for a buy

Fannie Mae (FNM) - Resistance $1.32 & $1.43 - Love pullbacks to $1. Friday was the highest close of 2009 so far....very bullish

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - Fast Track FDA decision on 8/24/09 - Check out my CTIC Technical Analysis

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - FAS is surging once again with the overall stock market. Resistance continues to be located at $79.36 while support is Friday's low of $74.26. I will only be buying FAZ if FAS breaks down below $70.

Bank of America Corp ( BAC ) - Bank of America Corporation is now trading solidly in the $17's. Watching for a close above $17.93 - Check out my BAC Technical Analysis.

Ambac Financial Group, Inc. (ABK) - Another stock worth watching is ABK. Resistance is located at $1.22 as well as $1.64. ABK closed over all three major moving averages on Friday and has support at $1.10 & $1.00.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS) - LVS stock continues it's journey toward the November 2008 high of $16.81. All pullbacks to the 10 day moving average have been bought heavily and offer a nice support level.

Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (HEB) - For a trade, I will be buying HEB when it breaks up through $1.96 and adding more when it breaks above $2. This should provide a solid gain in my opinion.

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) stock broke closed over an important resistance level of $4.48 on Friday. The stock has also closed two straight days over the 200 day moving average which is extremely bullish! I plan to buy any pullbacks to $4.48 and the 200 day moving average. On the upside, the high from Friday of $4.86 becomes a resistance level as does $5. As soon as $5 is closed over, big funds are allowed to get back into the stock which could provide another spike.

The FDA will rule on August 24, 2009 - whether or not to Fast Track ( priority review ) pixantrone for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. If the FDA accepts the application, there will be an FDA decision on Dec 24, 2009. If the FDA does not fast track, then I would think a normal application process would go through and we could see a decision in early 2010. As for CTIC stock, I would be a buyer of pullbacks into the $1.30's and breakouts above $1.85, $2, and $2.23 resistances. After $2.23, the next major resistance is located at $2.50.
