The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9398 on 8/13/09, as the stock market traded higher after being up a lot more in pre market. The Dow Jones Futures surged after foreign markets were up big overnight. A worse then expected retail sales number hit our rally and stocks traded mainly flat all day before turning up right into the close. Tomorrow should be a boring day as there are are big earnings or economic data events do out. I am watching 9438 on the Dow Jones for signs of a new breakout. Check out some of the events I will be watching for Friday.

Baltic Dry Index Shipping Rates 8/13/09 BDI

The BDI data is critical for how the DryBulk Shipping Stocks such as DryShips Inc ( DRYS ), Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd( EXM ), Diana Shipping Inc ( DSX ), Genco Shipping & Trading Limited ( GNK ), TBS International Limited ( TBSI ), Navios Maritime ( NM ), Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. ( EGLE ), Paragon Shipping Inc. ( PRGN ), Star Bulk Carriers Corp. ( SBLK ), and OceanFreight Inc ( OCNF ) will trade during the day. As you probably know, the Dry Bulk Shipping index can tell you a lot about the state of the World Economy. When Bulk Shipping Rates are at all time highs, the World Economy is outstanding. When Bulk Shipping Rates are as low as they have been lately, it signifies that the world economy has come to a screeching halt

Bank of America Corporation is up big today on news that John Paulson took a huge 168 million share stake in the stock during the 2nd quarter. After a sucessful retest of the 10 day moving average over the past two days, BAC is back testing $17.

I continue to like pullbacks into the $15's but will be watching two key resistance levels going forward. These two resistance levels are $17.35 from last week and the major resistance level of $17.93 from December 2008. A close over $17.93 would spark a run toward $20. Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) Support & Resistance Levels - 8/13/09

Resistance Levels: $4, $4.05 $4.25, $4.48

Citigroup stock had a successful retest of the 10 day moving average this week and support at $3.50. Shares are now back over $4 in pre market on the BAC news. I am watching for the first close over $4.05 which would cause a new break out and potentially cause a run up to $4.48 resistance as well as a close over the 200 day moving average. If Citigroup can close over both $4.48 and the 200 day moving average....it would send a buy signal to major technicians and send the stock even higher.

It seems as though everyone is watching Libor rates these days. Today's Libor Rates for 8/13/09, are: 1 Month Libor Rate - 0.273% & 3 Month Libor Rate - 0.440%. The overnight Libor rate is 0.233%. As you can see, Libor Rates have changed today, August 13, 2009. All three libor rates fell today.

Stocks to Watch - 8/13/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - FAS started the day out under $67 and then made a huge snap back rally with the overall stock market. As long as FAS continues to close under $72.53, I will be looking for trading opportunities in FAZ. For FAS, support levels are located at $70, $66.59, $65.85. As soon as FAS closes above $72.53, I will be looking for a retest of $76-$77.50. These two stocks are very volatile....always be disciplined and used tight stops.

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - I continue to watch AIG on a daily basis. The daily moves are tightening and AIG could be getting ready for a big move one or the other in the coming weeks. Right now, I am watching $26.50, a break above that level could take AIG stock back to the $28 resistance. A break below $25 will retest $24 support. I'm not taking a position either way just yet but one thing is for sure, a break above $30 would be very bullish.

CROCS Inc. (CROX) - CROX stock broke $6.40 Wednesday which is considered a break out. If CROX can close over $6.75, I don't see any resistance until $10. Of coarse, the run to $10 won't be in a straight line so i'd be a buyers of any more 10-15% pullbacks.

Brigham Exploration Co. (BEXP) - BEXP continues to surge after hitting the huge oil well located in the Sanish Three Forks zone of the Bakken Shale. BEXP hit some major resistance around $8 on Wednesday and then sold off to around $7.50. If this stock makes another dip under $7, I will start to buy shares. This stock should be trading between $9-$11 in my opinion.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS) - LVS had heavy call buying Wednesday which sent shares up nicely. I am watching Monday's high of $13.16 as a resistance level of interest. A close above $13.16 would put LVS back on track to retest the $16.93 high I have been talking about. I now want to buy pullbacks to the 10 day moving average.

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Citigroup broke though the high of day Wednesday morning and ran up to the $4 resistance area. Watching for a close over $4.05 to get back into the stock or else a pullback at $3.50. The 200 day moving average is down to $4.52 so Citigroup could be setting up for another big break out soon.....stay tuned!

Bank of America Corp ( BAC ) - Bank of America Corporation was back over the 10 day moving average ( $15.81 ) Wednesday. I am watch two key resistance levels which are located at $17.35 & $17.93. A close over $17.93 would cause a new breakout to occur. This break could take BAC back into the $20's easily.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - CTIC was back over $1.50 Wednesday. I continue to watch CTIC as they have an FDA application decision coming up on August 24th. CTIC could really move up in anticipation of a positive outcome.

Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (HEB) - HEB continues to break down after falling below $2. I will be a buyer on pop through $2.09.

DryShips, Inc. (DRYS) - The baltic dry index has fallen 10 straight days. When this index starts to turn up, we could see a breakout in DRYS shares. A close over $6.50 and I will get back in. There is resistance at $7.10 and then the 200 day moving average at $7.58.
