The Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DJI ) closed at 7224 on 3/13/09, as the stock market buying spree continued after a huge up week for the major averages. We have now closed higher four consecutive days. The Dow Jones Futures opened the day higher on more good Citigroup ( C ) news. There was an attempt to sell the stock market off around 11am but stocks then recovered going into the afternoon hours. Some of the hottest stocks today were GM, LVS, and STEC. Also worth noting, Palm ( PALM ) closing back above $8. Palm reports earnings next week. All eyes will be on the G20 meeting over the weekend, the OPEC Oil meeting over the weekend, and Ben Bernanke's interview on 60 minutes Sunday night. Monday and Tuesday will be critical days which will tell us if this rally has more legs or if this rally is just a typical bear market rally.

Citigroup C Stock 3/13/09 March 13, 2009
Citigroup ( C ) stock continues to fly today on more positive comments out of board member Richard Parsons.
Citigroup News - 3/13/09
Chairman Richard Parsons said Thursday that the bank does not need any more capital injections from the government and expressed confidence that Citi would remain in private hands. Asked in an interview with Reuters whether Citigroup needed additional government capital injections, Parsons said: "No, I think actually, particularly with the latest conversion... Citi is actually one of the better capitalized banks in the world.''
In other news, Citigroup is expected to name 4 new board members as early as next week.
Citigroup is preparing to nominate some four new members to its board, including former U.S. Bancorp chief executive Jerry Grundhofer, as soon as next week, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Citigroup ( C ) stock is trading up in pre market by 7.78% to 1.80 per share.

Technical Analysis: It is important to note that Citi is back above its 10 day moving average. Next major resistance is $2.00, and then about $2.55. Keep an eye on the 10 day moving average.

The Dow Jones had another great day and continues to break out after closing above the 10 day moving average on Monday. The next resistance level I am looking at is 7449 which is the previous 52 week low before the 6469.95 low was made. A close over this level would be huge and would take the Dow back to the 50 day moving average of 7853. The Dow Jones now has support at the 7000 level and the 10 day moving average at 6822. Resistance Levels: 1456, 1483, 1500, 1600
Support Levels: 1400, 1340, 1300, 1253.22, 1193.42, 1108.49

The Nasdaq has had an explosive move higher this week and is now above 1400. This level will now become support and when you see a break below 1400, chances are we go back to retest the 10 day moving average at 1340. I am skeptical of the quickness of this move and believe we will test the 10 day moving average soon but it will probably be a lot higher then 1340. The Nasdaq is now in the middle of oversold and overbought. If 1400 continues to hold, look for the 50 day moving average to be tested, a close over this would be huge!
