Stocks to Watch - 4/20/10 - Stock Market Investing Ideas


Prana Biotechnology Ltd. (PRAN) - Shares of Prana Biotechnology Ltd. soared Monday morning after the company released the following news - New Analysis of Prana's Clinical Trial Is Published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease. Resistance is located at $3.35 which is the 52 week high.

Blockbuster Inc. (BBI) - Shares of Blockbuster Inc. were up big after the company delayed their shareholder meeting to June 24. If you got in over the past few months, this is a great time to take profits.

Samson Oil & Gas Limited (SSN) - Shares of Samson Oil & Gas Limited skyrocketed after reporting a Gusher Oil Well. The stock hit a high of $0.94 and traded all the way down to $0.81 before rebounding. Resistance continues to be located up at $1.00 as well as $1.09. I added a few more shares Monday but won't get really aggressive until the stock can get above $1.00. Samson Oil & Gas stock is very volatile but I continue to think the company has a lot of potential. Just wait until they drill their next Bakken Shale well in May and start drilling in the Niobrara Shale. With oil down $2 and the stock market weak, SSN held up nicely on Monday.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) - Shares of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. broke $157 in early trading on Monday and then rebounded. For a trade, I think you can buy Goldman Sach when it breaks through $166.

Bank of America Corp (BAC) - Shares of Bank of America Corp broke $18 on Monday for a brief period of time but the stock has regained that level. Resistance is now located at the 10 day moving average ( $18.70 ). Support after $18 is located at the 50 day moving average down around $17. A pullback to the 50 day would be a strong buy.

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - Shares of American Intl Group, Inc. retreated Monday after failing to close above $41.80 over the past two weeks. There is no major support until $36 while resistance is located at $40 again.

Ambac Financial Group, Inc. (ABK) - Shares of Ambac Financial Group, Inc. failed again at $2.08 resistance on Monday. I plan to buy Ambac stock again when it breaks up through $2.08.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) - Shares of Advanced Micro Devices fell again on Monday after the company reported some soft guidance for the next quarter on Friday. I like the stock as long as it remains above $9.20, but if $9.20 fails, we could see a move down to $8.75.

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - FAS continues to hold $100 which is positive. If FAS breaks $100 at any time down the road, I will jump in FAZ for a trade. FAS now has resistance located at $108.

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (SIRI) - Shares of SIRIUS XM Radio continue to trade above $1.00 which is positive because the company can avoid a potential delisting. Sirius XM Radio has support at $1.00, a break below this level would be bearish.

Research In Motion Ltd. (RIMM) - Shares of Research In Motion Ltd. were testing $70 on Monday and are now trading back below the 10 day moving average. I continue to like pullbacks below $70 for the long term.

DryShips, Inc. (DRYS) - Shares of Dryships Inc are back below $6.20 which I think is a strong buy. $6.00 should hold on the downside now. Resistance continues to be located up at $7.00.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - Shares of Cell Therapeutics, Inc. continue to trade above the 10 day moving average located at $0.63. If Cell Therapeutics would fall below this level, I would bail. The only way I'd buy CTIC right now if it somehow broke above $1.00 which I don't see happening.

Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (SOMX) - Shares of Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. continue to be the hottest stock in 2010. Somaxon Pharmaceuticals is now back under $7 per share for the first time since they received FDA Approval. Resistance is now located at $7.21.

Freddie Mac (FRE) - Support = $1.38 - Resistance = $1.49

Fannie Mae (FNM) - Support = $1.09 - Resistance $1.23
