The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10366 on 12/3/09, as the stock market tanked after we received a better then expected initial jobless claims figure. The Dow Jones Futures were up in pre market but improved throughout the morning after we found out that there were only 457,000 initial claims last week. At 10am, the stock market began to sell off and we traded flat going into the final hour. At 3:30pm Est, more selling hit the market, especially the financials.
The end of the day selling today could be traders setting positions ahead of the employment report due out at 8:30am EST on Friday. I am expecting us to break 100,000 jobs lost in November 2009. Most analysts come in around -120,000-140,000 jobs lost.
Check out some additional events I will be watching for Friday. Also, if you are a trader, check out my stocks to watch report for tomorrow.
