Is the stock market open on Friday, July 3, 2009 for the 4th of July Holiday? No, Wall Street is closed!
The Stock Market, which includes the Dow Jones, Nasdaq, S&P 500, and Bond Market will be closed on 7/3/09 for July 4th which is a National Holiday. Banks will be open on July 6, 2009 but all will be closed on July 4th. We are getting reports that some banks will be open on July 3rd but some will be closed. Bank of America and Wells Fargo will be open with normal hours.
The stock market will be open for normal trading hours on July 2 and also will be open on July 6, 2009.
Federal Holidays: Federal law (5 U.S.C. 6103) establishes the following public holidays for Federal employees. Please note that most Federal employees work on a Monday through Friday schedule. For these employees, when a holiday falls on a nonworkday -- Saturday or Sunday -- the holiday usually is observed on Monday (if the holiday falls on Sunday) or Friday (if the holiday falls on Saturday).
