The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9071 on 7/29/09, as the stock market fell today on a worse then expected durable goods number, a plunge in oil prices, and a worse then expected 5 year treasury auction. The Dow Jones Futures started the day lower but weakened throughout the trading day. Oil prices had their worst day in three months as inventories spiked higher then expected. This sent most of the energy sector significantly lower. As usual though, the stock market was subject to a late day bounce which has been the trading pattern for the past 2 months or so. This late day buying is very common in a bull market. As long as the Dow Jones can stay above 9000, I continue to be bullish and trade actively. Keep an eye on the hottest stock today which is INO, a swine flu stock. This company released positive vaccine data today and the stock jumped over 300%.
