Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) Support & Resistance Levels - 4/19/10

Resistance Levels: $168, $170, $176, $187

Support Levels: $160, $157, $155.50

Shares of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. failed at $187-$190 resistance on Friday and then got crushed as the SEC charged the company with fraud. Goldman Sachs Group Inc now has support at $160, but if $160 fails and the stock breaks back down through $157, I think you have to move to the sidelines. On the upside, there will be resistance located at $168-$170. Earnings are due out before the open on Tuesday which are expected to be very strong!

Stocks to Watch - 4/19/10 - Stock Market Investing Ideas

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) - Shares of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. failed at $187-$190 resistance on Friday and then got crushed as the SEC charged the company with fraud. Goldman Sachs now has support at $160, but if $160 fails and the stock breaks back down through $157, I think you have to move to the sidelines. On the upside, there will be resistance located at $168-$170. Earnings are due out before the open on Tuesday which will be very strong!

Bank of America Corp (BAC) - Shares of Bank of America Corp made a high of $19.48 after better then expected earnings on Friday but then tanked with the Goldman Sachs Group news. $18 is now solid support on the downside. If $18 is broken, I think BAC could easily retest the 50 day moving average located at $16.90. This would then become a strong buy. Resistance is now located at $19.48 as well as $20.

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - Shares of American Intl Group, Inc. jumped on the Goldman Sachs news as traders bought the stock thinking AIG could get some of settlement money if Goldman does infact settle. Resistance continues to be located around $41.80, each time that price it hit, the seller quickly come in. Wait for a close above $41.80 to go long.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) - Shares of Advanced Micro Devices fell on Friday after the company reported some soft guidance for the next quarter. I like the stock as long as it remains above $9.20, but if $9.20 fails, we could see a move down to $8.75.

Ambac Financial Group, Inc. (ABK) - Shares of Ambac Financial Group, Inc. failed again at $2.08 resistance on Friday. I plan to buy Ambac stock again when it breaks up through $2.08.

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - FAS was crushed with the financials on Friday but bounced off of $100. If FAS breaks $100 at any time down the road, I will jump in FAZ for a trade. FAS will continue to find resistance located up at $118.

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (SIRI) - Shares of SIRIUS XM Radio held in there on Friday given the sell off in the stock market. Sirius XM Radio has support at $1.00, a break below this level would be bearish.

Research In Motion Ltd. (RIMM) - Shares of Research In Motion Ltd. pulled back to the 50 day moving average on Friday located at $71.58. Research in Motion has support at $70, any pullback below $70 would be viewed as a buying opportunity again.

DryShips, Inc. (DRYS) - Shares of Dryships Inc continue to trade above the $6.20 support level. If we saw a pullback below this level again, I'd be a buyer. Resistance on the upside is located at $7.00.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - Shares of Cell Therapeutics, Inc. are hovering in the $0.60's ahead of the FDA meeting due out at the end of April. Anyone who is buying in right now is probably going to hold into the FDA event

Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (SOMX) - Shares of Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. continue to be the hottest stock in 2010. Somaxon Pharmaceuticals has resistance located at $9.10. I plan to buy when that price is broken. SOMX would also be interesting if it traded near $7.00.

Samson Oil & Gas Limited (SSN) - Shares of Samson Oil & Gas Limited filled the gap back to $0.60 on Friday which is bullish if you are long because the worst should be over in the short term. Check out my SSN article I wrote and why I like the stock. Won't buy more until it breaks $1.00 though.

Freddie Mac (FRE) - Support = $1.38 - Resistance = $1.68

Fannie Mae (FNM) - Support = $1.22 - Resistance $1.36

Resistance Levels: $5.00, $5.43, $6.00

Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C) got crushed on Friday but did everything right technically. Citigroup Inc held $4.40 support and then bounced back to close above the 10 day moving average. It is to early to tell if there is additional downside yet but earnings are due out next week. If Citigroup closes back above $5.00, it is a strong buy going forward. I would then expect the stock to retest the $5.43 52 week high.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 11019 on 4/16/10, as the stock market fell sharply due to the SEC charging Goldman Sachs (GS) with fraud. The Dow Jones Futures were down about 10 points in early trading as GE and BAC reported better then expected earnings and were ready to lift the stock market. At about 10:35am EST, the Goldman Sachs new broke which send stocks falling fast. Today was also an options expiration day which didn't help the major averages. What to expect on Monday? I think we might see further weakness at the open with a bounce by mid morning barring any more negative news. I think this is an isolated issue and should effect any other companies.

Samson Oil & Gas SSN Bakken Shale Potential

Shares of Samson Oil & Gas (SSN) have been on fire this month on news of a positive Oil well out of the Bakken Shale. The Gene #1-22H well, which is located in Williams County, North Dakota, is producing 859 BOPD with a gas rate of 1,010 MCFD which is 1,027 BOEPD. Samson has about a 31% interest in this well. Good for a little company with a market cap of only 50 million.

This well is adjacent to 2,000-3,000 BOEPD wells from Brigham Exploration Co. (BEXP). Samson will continue to work the Gene #1-22 with hopes that when finished, the well can be an even bigger producer.

It doesn't stop there! Samson Oil and Gas plans to drill another well nearby in May 2010. In total, there are 5-6 potential wells to be drilled in this spacing.

On top of all of this good news from the Bakken Shale, the company also holds 100,000 of high potential acreage in the Niobrara Shale. I will have more on the potential of this shale play in the coming weeks.

As for SSN Stock. Shares have recently declined to under $0.70 after hitting $0.91. I am holding a small position for the long term and plan to double my position IF the stock breaks up through $1.00. After that, I plan to add again IF the stock breaks to a new 52 week high currently located at $1.09.

Samson Oil & Gas is a risky stock right now and is very volatile. I think the risk reward is high for the long term but I am going to let the share price tell me when to buy more stock.
