The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9370 on 8/7/09, as the stock market jumped after a better then expected jobs report. 247,000 jobs were lost in the month on July while the unemployment rate was 9.4%. The Dow Jones Futures exploded on this news and the stock market surged throughout the day. In the final hour, the stock market pulled back from its high but remained very strong. All eyes will be pointed to a two day Federal Reserve meeting in the middle of next week.

The BDI data is critical for how the DryBulk Shipping Stocks such as DryShips Inc ( DRYS ), Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd( EXM ), Diana Shipping Inc ( DSX ), Genco Shipping & Trading Limited ( GNK ), TBS International Limited ( TBSI ), Navios Maritime ( NM ), Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. ( EGLE ), Paragon Shipping Inc. ( PRGN ), Star Bulk Carriers Corp. ( SBLK ), and OceanFreight Inc ( OCNF ) will trade during the day. As you probably know, the Dry Bulk Shipping index can tell you a lot about the state of the World Economy. When Bulk Shipping Rates are at all time highs, the World Economy is outstanding. Stock Market Futures

I continue to watch the Dow Jones and the 10 day moving average. The Dow Jones hasn't closed below the 10 day moving average since closing back over it on July 13th. A close below this level would make me cautious I would be expecting a correction to come in the stock market. 9200 is a solid support level as well as 9000....after that, you have the 50 day moving average at 8680 which would be a strong buy. This 10 day moving average indicator has not always worked but I find it right 75% of the time. On the upside, the next major resistance level is located at 9500.

Stocks to Watch - 8/7/09 - Stock Market Ideas

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - AIG Stock hit $29 Thursday and then had a big pullback. After the move yesterday, I'm not sure why anyone would pay another $7 per share for AIG. The stock is now back to a key support level around $23 going into earnings tomorrow. I will not be doing anything until after the earnings are released Friday. After earnings, I'd be a buyer near $18.31 for a trade if there is another pullback. Resistance on the upside is now $24 and $25... a break above $25 will get AIG moving again.

Ambac Financial Group, Inc. (ABK) - ABK also releases earnings Friday morning. This is another stock to watch closely after MBIA Inc. (MBI) reported better then expected earnings Thursday and Radian Group Inc. (RDN) hit a homerun on Wednesday.

Citizens Republic Bancorp, Inc (CRBC) - CRBC stock exploded Thursday. A break above $1.00 would be very bullish.

Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (HEB) - Continue to watch HEB, they have an FDA decision coming out this fall ( Sept - Nov ) on CFS drug Ampligen. If approved, HEB would soar. HEB currently has support at $2.07 and $2 with resistance at $2.25 & $2.32.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - CTIC continues to trade in the $1.50's after releasing earnings Thursday. On August 24th, the company is expecting a ruling from the FDA whether to accept their application for Pixantrone to treat relapsed or refractory aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Shares of CTIC could catch a bid leading up to August 24th.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS) - After pulling back to the 50 day moving average last week, Las Vegas Sands appears to be starting a breakout. A close over $11.84 would be very bullish. I continue to like pullbacks to the 50 day moving average ( currently $9.01 ).

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - As of 2:30pm Thursday, FAS has made 12 straight higher daily lows from the prior trading session. Thursday's low is $69.00, a break through that on Friday and I will jump into FAZ for a trade. You have to use tight stops with these two given the volatility! This is strickly for a trade and will be after the employment report is out.

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Citigroup shares hit $3.81 today which is right in the $3.77-$3.83 resistance zone. Support is located at $3.50 and then $3.38. Check out my Citigroup technical analysis.

Bank of America Corp ( BAC ) - Bank of America Corporation stopped short of the the next major resistance level at $17.93 today. I'd be a buyer on pullbacks to the 10 day moving average. Check out my BAC technical analysis - I will have a new chart posted tomorrow.
