The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9547 on 9/9/09, as the stock market traded higher and continues its pursuit of the recent highs. The Dow Jones Futures were basically flat to start the day but the stock market shot higher around 10am and never looked back. All eyes will be on the Obama speech tonight and the initial jobless claims data due out tomorrow morning. These two events could be major market movers. Keep an eye on the 2009 high for the Dow Jones at 9630.20. A close above that level could set us up for a move toward 10,000.

Baltic Dry Index Shipping Rates 9/9/09 BDI

The BDI data is critical for how the DryBulk Shipping Stocks such as DryShips Inc ( DRYS ), Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd( EXM ), Diana Shipping Inc ( DSX ), Genco Shipping & Trading Limited ( GNK ), TBS International Limited ( TBSI ), Navios Maritime ( NM ), Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. ( EGLE ), Paragon Shipping Inc. ( PRGN ), Star Bulk Carriers Corp. ( SBLK ), and OceanFreight Inc ( OCNF ) will trade during the day. As you probably know, the Dry Bulk Shipping index can tell you a lot about the state of the World Economy. When Bulk Shipping Rates are at all time highs, the World Economy is outstanding. When Bulk Shipping Rates are as low as they have been lately, it signifies that the world economy has come to a screeching halt

Citigroup closed back below the 10 day moving average Tuesday and was weak all day long after failing at $5.00. I am back on the sidelines and will be waiting for Citigroup to get back over the 10 day moving average before I buy back in. I will also be buying at the $4.50 support level but a very small position. As soon as Citigroup can close back over $5, I think the stock will continue the recent uptrend. The fact that Citi failed at $5 yesterday makes it an even greater resistance level. For more Technical Analysis - Go Here

Stocks to Watch - 9/9/09 - Stock Market Ideas


American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - AIG had a nasty downgrade by Credit Suisse on Tuesday which caused shares to fall around 10%. Once again, I will now be waiting for AIG to break back up through its high of the day to get into the stock. Last week's downgrade was a $10 price target so investors appear to be getting used to these low blows from analysts.

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Citigroup hit a low of $4.65 Tuesday but I am not buying yet. I will add shares at $4.50 or if the stock can break back up through the high of day on Wednesday. It is important to note that Citi failed at $5 on Tuesday so as soon as the stock breaks $5 again, it will run. Check out my Citigroup Technical Analysis

Opexa Therapeutics, Inc. (OPXA) - OPXA stock exploded higher Tuesday after the company released positive Tovaxin data for MS. The stock was trading at $3.50 right before CNBC mentioned it and then it will blast off through the high of the day. OPXA is one to keep on your watch lists for days and weeks ahead. There is major resistance between $7-$8.

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - FAS gapped up Tuesday morning and broke up through $74.29 but could not hold it. The high of the day was $74.73 which now becomes resistance. As long as FAS remains above $70 I like FAS for a trade. If FAS breaks back below $70 I will jump into FAZ for a trade. It's very simple!

Bank of America Corp ( BAC ) - Bank of America Corporation continues to fail above the 10 day moving average which is now down to $17.28. As soon as the stock closes back over this level, I think you will see money pour back into the stock.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc ( CTIC ) - Will be buying CTIC again when it breaks Tuesday's high of $1.48

Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (HEB) - HEB broke $2.07 Tuesday but stopped at $2.15. This now becomes an important resistance level in the future. I will buy HEB again when it breaks $2.07 and add more when it breaks $2.15. This is strictly for a trade only.

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (SIRI) - Resistance = $0.70
