The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9870 on 6/29/10, as the stock market tanked on global debt fears and consumer confidence. The Dow Jones Futures began the day down 130 but fell even more throughout the trading session. The June consumer confidence report was very bearish and was the major cause of today's decline.
The S&P 500 is fighting to hold 1041 on a closing basis but if this fails, we could be looking at 1000-1020 as the next stop. Stocks such as Boeing, Citigroup, Caterpillar were down around 7% today. While earnings and fundamentals still look fairly strong, Wall Street continues to be stuck in a negative mood.
