The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10857 on 3/31/10, as the stock market traded down on the last trading day of the quarter. Investors most likely took profits due to the window dressing buying over the past several days. Stock fund managers usually buy the highest performing stocks at the end of the quarter so these stocks show up as " owned " in the quarterly statement. This is trick has been very popular over years! Tomorrow will be the last trading day of the week as the stock market is closed on Good Friday.
