The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10610 on 1/14/10, as the stock market went down on a worse then expected earnings report out of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM). The Dow Jones Futures were down around 60 this morning but then the stock market tanked right after the open. The Dow Jones was down over 150 at one point.
The story next week will be earnings! Several large companies such as Apple and General Electric will be reporting. The bar is set very high so if the company misses, it will get ugly.
The stock market will be closed on Monday for the Martin Luther King Holiday.
