The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9713 on 10/30/09, as the stock market tanked on a strong US Dollar Rally. The Dow Jones Futures began the day down around 40 points but things deteriorated throughout the trading session. During the afternoon, the stock market hit fresh lows with the Dow Jones down over 265 at one point.

There seems to be panic and fear creeping back into the market with the Volatility Index VIX rising above 30. If you watch CNBC, the news anchors seem to be really running with this sell off story because we haven't seen volatility like this for awhile. I tend to think this is just a typical sell off and positioning at the end of the month. We also have a huge week of economic data next week which will end with the Jobs Report.
