The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10016 on 10/14/09, as the stock market surged on earnings out of Intel Corp (INTC) which caused the Dow Jones to trade above 10,000 for the first time in a year.

The Dow Jones Futures started the day higher after we received the Intel Corporation (INTC) earnings from last night. During the afternoon trading session, the Dow finally hit 10,000 but then pulled back to around 9980. In the final hour of trading today, the Dow made another surge and traded up to 10,020.

Since we are now back above 10,000, we really need to see it hold. We need to see a few solid closes over this level and slowly trend higher. Oil is also breaking out which for now is a good sign for the markets. If Oil gets back above $90, there could be potential problems like the summer of 2008.
