The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9820 on 9/18/09, as the stock market rallied on a quadruple witching day. The Dow Jones Futures started the day higher but gained throughout the morning. The stock market was strong all day but gave back some gains going into the close.
The consumer non cyclical sector was the hottest sector today. Stocks such as Procter & Gamble Co. (PG), Fortune Brands Inc. (FO), and Star Scientific, Inc. (STSI) were some of the most solid stocks in the sector.
In other news, CEL-SCI Corp. (CVM) stock exploded higher late in the day when the CEO said that their H1N1 Flu Drug Candidate Could Propel Company Onto World Stage. Shares of CVM went from $1.36 to $1.64 in the afternoon. It is important to note that the news was not released by Cel-Sci Corp but by an independent website.
The Dow Jones continues to grind higher and is approaching resistance at 10,000. Keep an eye on this level next week! Check out some of the events I will be watching for Monday.
