Stocks to Watch - 7/10/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Head and Shoulders Pattern - First, before I buy or watch any stocks, I must remind myself that the stock market is breaking down on a technical pattern called the head and shoulders formation. The neckline was broken on Tuesday and there is now a clear downtrend. How long will this last? Not very sure but I am looking for at least 8000 to be tested before the downtrend ends. Rallies back to the 10 & 50 day moving averages should be sold. You can see my Dow Jones Analysis each day - Right Here

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - Both FAZ and FAZ had reverse splits Thursday. FAS trading at $39.74 is basically trading back near the $8 level which is now resistance. I'd be a buyer of FAS near $35 where it was yesterday if you are using the post split price. I'd be a buyer of FAZ if FAS gets near $50 per share.

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Citigroup stock is finally showing signs of a short term bottom as it traded up on Thursday. I am looking for a break out if C stock breaks $2.71 which could take the stock back into the $2.80's where i'd be a seller. I am also watching Wednesday's low of $2.55, if Citigroup breaks through that level, $2.40 will be tested.

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - AIG stock plunged to the $10 support level I was looking for over the past few days. It produced a 5% bounce if you bought it there. We now have a Citigroup analyst out stating a worthless stock price going forward - Strong Chance AIG Equity May Be Worthless, Citigroup Says - There's a significant chance that American International Group Inc.'s (AIG) equity may be worthless, a Citigroup analyst said Thursday.
Analyst Joshua Shanker wrote in a research note that there's a 70% chance that AIG's equity is worthless due to more losses on credit default swaps, and "management's increased openness to disposing of businesses at low valuations."

Keep an eye on this situation, a break below $10 would be really bad and more selling pressure will crush AIG Stock.

U.S. Oil Fund (NYSE: USO) - The United States Oil Fund LP (ETF) hit a low of $32.10 as oil prices plunged on Thursday below $60 per barrel. The USO has support between $32-$32.16 as well as around $31. If you are looking to trade oil, this ETF allows you to trade the daily moves of crude oil. I would only suggest using this ETF if you know how it works. Oil is due for a bounce soon.

Continental Resources Inc. (CLR) - CLR stock had a nice pop in the first part of the trading day Thursday but then went back under $24. I will be a buyer of pullbacks under $23 going forward and a huge buyer under $20 if it gets there. Click Here for my CLR write up.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - CTIC ripped back over $1.37 today but is now fighting to hold this level. You can be a buyer of this stock as long as you know $1.22 is a low that must hold going forward. IF CTIC breaks $1.22, it has a chance to retest the $0.97-$1 MAJOR support level.

Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (HEB) - Investors and traders continue to wait for the FDA decision on their CFS drug, Ampligen. The long delay is starting to get old! Management remains silent. It's almost like they went on vacation without notifying investors. ZzzzzZZzzzzZZZzZzZzZZz

Labopharm Inc. (DDSS) - Keep an eye on DDSS stock , the company is due to receive an FDA decision on their drug DDS-04A for depression - July 18, 2009 - Discuss DDSS

Rigel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (RIGL) - RIGL stock had some nice news out Thursday but shares tanked right after the open. At about 10:45am EST, shares of Rigel reversed and even broke though the high of the day on strong volume. Keep an eye on this stock for Friday. Rigel says arthritis drug shows progress; shares soar
