The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8332 on 7/13/09, as the stock market erupted after analyst Meredith Whitney came out and upgraded shares of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) ahead of earnings tomorrow morning. Goldman Sachs is expected to earn around 2 billion for the quarter. The Dow Jones Futures were lower at the start of pre market but then reversed on the Whitney comments above. Stocks struggled at the open but then exploded to the upside starting at 11am EST. Oil traded down to near $58 but then reversed as well.

Stock Market Analysis: The Dow Jones closed over 8250 resistance today so we are now seeing a run back to the next resistance at 8400 which I expect to be sold. As most of you already know, I am actively accumulating shares of Continental Resources Inc. (CLR) for a surge in oil prices over the next 12 months. If the stock market starts to rally back to the recent highs, Oil prices will be rallying right behind it. Check out some of the events I will be watching for Tuesday.
