The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8409 on 5/7/09, as the stock market sold off after stocks gapped up huge in pre market trading. The Dow Jones Futures were up nicely early in the morning but then spiked higher on a better then expected initial jobless claims figure. Bank Stocks were on fire in pre market for no apparent reason that I can think of. At the open, the bank stocks sold off big time! Citigroup went from $4.40 to $3.50, Bank of America went from $15 to $13, and Financial Bull ( FAS ) went from $13 to $10. In the last hour of trading, the stock market came off the lows as Wall Street prepares for more details on the Stress Test tonight and the jobs report at 8:30am est tomorrow.
Check out the stocks to watch for Friday.
