The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8422 on 5/20/09, as the stock market was up big in the morning and then sank during the afternoon hours. The Dow Jones Futures were higher in pre market and the Dow Jones was up over 100 points at one point. At about 11am the stock market averages started to come off their highs and by 12:30pm, they were even with yesterday's close. Why did the stock market fall today? Although there was no big news events at 11:00am, the down turn we saw today was led by the financial stocks such as Citigroup ( C ) and Wells Fargo ( WFC ). The financial bull 3x ( FAS ) etf completely collapsed as well. Here is an interesting story from Jim Rogers, one of the more popular investors.
