The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8285 on 5/13/09, as the stock market fell on worse then expected retail sales which were down 0.40%. Wall Street has been rallying on several pieces of economic data that have been good over the past two months and retail sales were one of them. The fact that they were worse then expected brought some selling into the stock market today. The Dow Jones closed below its 10 day moving average so tomorrow will be a critical technical day. Over the past two months, each time we've closed below the 10 day moving average, we bounced the following day. If we break down further tomorrow without a bounce, it could get ugly. I am personally looking for the US markets to be down big in pre market and then a classic rally right after the open. I am looking to buy FAS for an oversold bounce if this happens. I plan to then sell into the rally. Judging on the final hour of trading today, I think I have a 40% chance of this trade coming into fruition. I just hope I'm right on the bounce part!
