The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8083 on 4/9/09, as the stock market spiked higher on an earnings pre announcement by Wells Fargo ( WFC ). Wells expects to earn atleast 3 billion which smashes Wall Street estimates. The Dow Jones Futures surged right after the news hit and stocks went even higher at the open today. I was out of the office for most of the day but when I came back, the major averages were holding their gains. Jim Cramer put a price target of $26 on WFC stock and says it should see over $20 soon. We will get a better look at these earnings and more details later this month when WFC officially releases earnings. As of now, Wall Street is liking the news. The Dow Jones is now above 8000 on a closing basis which sets up nicely for a move to the next resistance level of around 8300. I am bullish as long as we remain above 8000 on a closing basis. This Wells Fargo news could be a game changer. Just look at the volume surge in WFC and BAC. The day we close back under 8000 I will start buying short ETF's again. The stock market is closed tomorrow but I will still be updating my blog so be sure to check back in.
