The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 7762 on 4/1/09, as the stock market went up today for two reasons. First, pending home sales were up 2.1% which was better then the flat number expected. This data along with a possible FASB Mark To Market rule change due out tomorrow, overshadowed a horrible ADP employment number.

The Dow Jones Futures were down big this morning after the above ADP data was released. At 10am the home sale figures were released and the stock market went from down 80 to up 160. Financials rallied as tomorrow the final vote will come on Mark to Market accounting rule. Friday, we get the infamous jobs report and unemployment rate which should be pretty bad.
