How will the stock market open on Tuesday - March 17, 2009? The Dow Jones and Stock Market Futures are pointing toward a slightly higher open for pre market. Meredith Whitney is on CNBC speaking about how the expected Citigroup profit is a false statement because its before the expenses and write downs. Building permits came out at 8:30am and were better then expected. This is rallying the stock market futures and could be a bright spot today. Obviously, we are in an uptrend so Wall Street looks for positive news to push the market higher vs when we were in the downtrend two weeks ago, Wall Street ignored good news and only looked for negative news. Building Permits is a nice gauge for things to come and this was a better then expected number. Check out technical analysis for March 17th. Alcoa cut their dividend in after market on Monday.
