The Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DJI ) closed at 6930 on 3/11/09, as the stock market performed very well a day after stocks spiked to the upside on the Citigroup ( C ) news. The Dow Jones Futures were higher in pre market and the Dow Jones tried to sell off right after the open but then resumed yesterdays move higher. The Nasdaq was very strong all day long! The Bank Stocks were higher in the morning but then declined in afternoon. At about 3pm, the bank stocks moved higher with the stock market. Back to the Nasdaq, Apple ( AAPL ), Research in Motion ( RIMM ), Google ( GOOG ), and Amazon ( AMZN ) were very strong today. Money seems to be coming back to technology stocks again.

Oil Prices: 3/11/09 - This morning the oil market received some bearish news in the form of gasoline inventories. This caused Oil to drop big. Oil closed under $43 and appears very weak. Gold prices appeared to have found support around $900 and have traded up to $917 at one point today.

All major stock market indexes have closed over their 10 day moving averages for the second straight day, a very bullish sign. It is way to early to call a stock market bottom until we retest the recent lows again and they hold. Right now, we are still oversold and I believe we will continue to move higher in this bear market rally. I could see the Dow Jones going toward the next major resistance level at 7400-7500 before failing again.
