The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8063 on 2/5/09, as the stock market opened weak and then surged on word of a stimulus package vote today. There was also chatter of a possible mark to market accounting rule reversal. The Dow Jones Futures were down this morning due to Cisco's ( CSCO ) earnings report. Right after the open, Bank of America ( BAC ) stock fell under $4.00 hitting a low of $3.77. The Dow Jones then made a low at 7845 ( 72 points away from the Hogan Bottom ) and began its surge to over 8000. This might be the 5th or 6th time we've bounced after falling under 8000. Oil also bounced with the Dow Today, closing back over $41 a barrel. Tomorrow at 8:30am the employment report and unemployment rate will be released. This report could be a market mover so make sure you stay tuned. I will have full technical analysis of the stock market tonight, Right Here
