The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 7939.53 on 2/11/09, as the stock market was volatile today after closing significantly down yesterday. The Dow Jones opened up the day higher by about 80 points but failed to get back over 8000 for the second straight day. The lows for the Dow Jones were put in at about 2pm est and once it was announced that lawmakers reached a tentative Stimulus Package deal, stocks rallied. In the commodities markets, Oil tanked to close at about $36 and Gold rallied strong to close above $940. The banking stocks also held up well today! Tomorrow will be another big day for the markets as we see if we can build on today's late day bounce. The Stimulus Package looks to be around 790 billion and should be signed by the weekend.
