The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8520 on 12/22/08, as the stock market was weak all day kicking off the first day of the holiday trading season. For the next two weeks, volume will be very light and the market could become volatile both ways. The Dow Jones managed to close back above the key support level of 8500 after dipping below this level during the afternoon. Financials such as Citigroup ( C ) and Goldman Sachs ( GS ) were very weak. Apple ( AAPL ) and Google ( GOOG ) led the Nasdaq down today.
