The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9324.69 on 10/31/08, as investors bought stocks and put together back to back positive days on the Dow Jones for the first time in a month. The Stock Market Futures were actually down this morning but again, the fall in Libor Rates turned futures around in pre market. All eyes will be focused on the Presidential Election on Tuesday, Nov 4th, 2008. As for the Dow Jones Industrial Average, we hit a high of 9452 this afternoon. If we can break out of the top of this trading range at 9500...we could test 10,000 on the Dow.

Art Cashin CNBC 10/31/08 - Election Comments
Art Cashing came on CNBC twice today, October 31st, 2008, and gave some comments on the stock market and the up coming election next week.
I think we are in reasonably good shape as far as the stock market goes, we need to get past election though. We didn't get the capitulation like we wanted last week, these capitulations usually last into the last Monday of October, and this time it was the closing low. We might have a possible retest of the lows after the election.
I'm hoping we can get together back to back Dow up days today.
Don't make a heavy commitment to stocks until after the election.
Click Here for a list of Art Cashin predictions for the week.

Dow Jones Open - Stock Market 10/31/08 - RIMM, AAPL, LVS
The Dow Jones and Stock Markets are opening slightly lower today, 10/31/08. The Dow Jones open down 20 points to around 9150 and has been steady in this price level. The Nasdaq is taking a hit, down 20 points to 1677. Libor Rates have again come down Oct 31st, a very positive sign for the stock market. Apple ( AAPL ) has been very weak this morning so far but Research in Motion ( RIMM ) has shown very good strength so far. These are two stocks to watch today. General Motors ( GM ) a key dow jones component, reportedly stopped talks with the treasury. As I write, the Dow Jones has just turned positive, up 20 to 9190.

1 and 3 Month Libor Rates 10/31/08
It seems as though everyone is watching Libor rates these days. Today's Libor Rates for 10/31/08, are: 1 Month Libor Rate - 2.58% & 3 Month Libor Rate - 3.03%. The overnight Libor rate is 0.41%.
Libor rates have sunk this week, especially after Bill Gross came on CNBC Monday and predicted Libor to fall! This has been a major reason why the stock market has rallied so much this week.

Dow Jones Futures 10/31/08 - Stock Market Futures
10/31/08 Pre Market Trading Report:
Today, October 31st, 2008, the Dow Jones Futures and the Stock Market Futures are pointing lower as the Asian Markets failed to stage a 4th rally and headed lower. The Dow Jones Futures are indicating a down move of 100, the Nasdaq Futures are lower by 24, and the S&P 500 Futures are down 9 points. We had a big move up the US markets yesterday after a better then expected GDP number. Our economy only shrank by 0.3% vs estimates of -0.60% or even -1%.
Asian Markets - European Markets - 10/31/08
Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index fell 5% to 8,576.98 over worries about earnings. Investor sold shares after the previous day's 10 percent rise and ahead of a three-day weekend in Japan. They didn't react much to the Bank of Japan's rate cut, which was widely expected.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng dove 2.5 percent to 13,968.67 after spiking 12.8% in Thursday's trading.
European markets opened lower, with Britain's FTSE 100 index down 1.9 percent and Germany's DAX down 1.2 percent.

Dow Jones Close 10/30/08 - Stock Market Closing Prices, GDP
Stock Market Closing Prices - 10/30/08
Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DJIA ) Close - 9181 Up 190
Nasdaq Stock Market Close - 1698 Up 41
S&P 500 Close - 954 Up 24
Libor Rates - 10/30/08

3 Month - 3.19%

Oil - 65.96
Natural Gas - 6.48
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9181 on 10/30/08, as investors shook off the General Electric comments from yesterday and bid stocks higher. The Stock Market Futures were up this morning thanks to the better then expected GDP number of -.3% for the third quarter. Wall Street expected the GDP figure to be much worse, some calling for the number to be down 1% for the third quarter. The Dow Jones was strong pretty much all day long, hitting a high of 9266 right after the open. We lost some steam in the final hour however. The final hour has been the most volatile period for stocks during the day for the past several weeks. Tomorrow, if the Dow Jones can break the 9266 high, it will most likely test 9500 in the next few trading session. Another key reason the stock market went up today was a giant fall in the Libor Rates. Libor Rates have been dropping steadily all week creating a bullish environment for stocks. Don't forget to check out comments by Bill Ackman and Art Cashin from this morning.
Biggest Stock Gainers: 10/30/08
IntercontinentalExchange, Inc. (ICE) was one of the biggest gainers today in the stock market. ICE was up over 32% today because of earnings and the fact that they are buying a clearing firm.
Las Vegas Sands ( LVS ) was up huge this morning, hitting 12.75 at one point. This stock will be an active one for day traders in the days and weeks to come. LVS has been weak at the close for the second straight day so be careful!

Dow Jones Open - Stock Market 10/30/08 - Opening Prices
The Dow Jones and Stock Markets are opening a lot higher today, 10/30/08. The Dow Jones open up 200 points to 9200 and briefly traded to the 9263 level. The Nasdaq is up 45 points to 1702. This morning, The GDP reading for the 3rd quarter came out and it was down 0.3%. Wall Street was expecting down 0.6% so this was viewed as positive. Keep in mind, these economic numbers are backward looking and for the most part, Wall Street has them priced in. You might want to check out comments by Bill Ackman & Art Cashin from this morning. They provide valuable insight on the stock market! Remember what I said about the QQQQ crossing $30.25? We never looked back and the QQQQ now trades at $32.75. Oh, I almost forgot, Libor Rates tanked this morning, this is another key reason stocks are up big today.
Stocks to Watch 10/30/08:
Las Vegas Sands ( LVS ) is at it again, LVS stock hit $12.75 this morning but has since retreated back to $11.50. I am going to let this stock settle for a few days and then re evaluate again. It has gone up almost 300% in two trading sessions. Earnings also come out next week, not to mention, we have an Election and the Jobs number.
Other Big Movers today are GKK, OMX, VSE, POT, FSLR. Check out the following website for the biggest stock gainers today. http://www.blackberrystocks.com/hotstocks.html

Art Cashin CNBC 10/30/08 - SP 500 Targets
Art Cashin CNBC - 10/30/08 - Comments on the Market and S&P 500 Targets
Yesterday at the close you had short covering 15 minutes to go because everyone down here on the floor waits for the final hour like a bunch of vultures. You didn't have the sellers show up, so we went up. Then a headline hits from General Electric and the market drops from up 300 to down 70 on emotional trading. you had panic selling for 15 minutes straight.
As far as the stock market goes, I think you can buy weakness in here...it looks less likely that we will get a retest of the lows for now.
S&P 500 predictions: I think you will go to 970,985, and 1010. If you break through 1010 you will have everyone high fiving each other calling a bottom and then you will probably get another upward spike from that.

Bill William Ackman CNBC 10/30/08 - TGT
William ( Bill ) Ackman of Pershing Square Capital, was on CNBC this morning, October 30th, 2008. Bill Ackman is a value investor who takes huge long positions in companies and then pressures management to create better value for shareholders. He is a great investor so his words shouldn't be taken lightly.
The best thing the Federal Reserve has done so far is inject 250 billion in the banking system. I think stocks are cheap, The Fed has taken important steps so far. Some banks will need more capital but the money the Government has put on the table so far may be enough.
I think the best hedge fund managers have raised money to pay back investors already. Are we almost finished with the liquidation? That's tough to answer, but we think stocks are very cheap at these levels. I don't think capital is going to come out of hedge funds in a huge way, I think the capital will be reallocated into different hedge funds.
Target ( TGT ) - We own just under 10% of the company, Target owns land under 85% of its stores. We want to spin the land off into a company and have Target pay rent to the company. TGT's cash flow goes up by 600 million per year. Target's dividend would go from $.60 to $1.86 but the dividend is going to be coming from the REIT. Target has virtually no default risk. Bill Ackman says this is one of the main reasons they bought TGT shares in the first place.

Here are Bill Gross's comments on Libor this week. The GDP number comes out at 8:30am Est so this could damper the positive news.

Stock Market 10/30/08 - Dow Jones Futures - Pre Market Trading
10/30/08 Pre Market Trading Report:
Today, October 30th, 2008, the Stock Market and Dow Futures are set to open up a lot higher following Asian Markets last night. The Dow Futures are called higher this morning by 197 points, the Nasdaq Futures are set to spike 34 points, and the S&P 500 Futures are set to rise by 27 points. Oil is set to open higher at $68.25 and Gold prices are set to rise to $772 an ounce. We are getting follow through from yesterdays Fed Rate Cut and we have opened new credit lines with central banks. As Guy Adami noted yesterday on Fast Money, we are in a trading range from 7800 to 9500. In his opinion, you should be selling up here. Dennis Gartman is now bullish on Gold...so watch Gold Stocks today.
Asian Markets - European Markets 10/30/08
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index led the rise in Asia, jumping up 12.8 percent to 14,329.85, and South Korea's key stock index flew by 12 percent to 1,084.72.
Japan's Nikkei 225 stock average gained 10 percent percent to 9,029.76 as exporters like Toyota and Sony got a boost from the yen continuing to fall from a 13-year high against the dollar last week. Asian Markets have seen huge gains for the past three trading session.
Stocks to Watch today:
I will be trading Las Vegas Sands ( LVS ) today, I took a small position to hold over night and I will probably be selling into strength in pre market just to take profits and see what kind of highs and lows we get in the first 30 minutes of trading. This will tell a lot about the rest of the day. When I wrote this article yesterday, I had no idea LVS was going to spike over the 10 day moving average all in one day, I was actually expecting it to happen today. So we may in fact get a retest above $9.38.
I'm also going to be watching Potash ( POT ) today. Still waiting for that close over $82....maybe we will get it today. First Solar ( FSLR ) came out with great earnings and guidance last night. FSLR is set to be a big mover today.
I will have another update after 10am today, so check my homepage!

Dow Jones Close 10/29/08 - Stock Market Closing Prices - General Electric ( GE )
Stock Market Closing Prices - 10/29/08
Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DJIA ) Close - 8990 Down 74
Nasdaq Stock Market Close - 1657 Up 7.74
S&P 500 Close - 930 Down 10.50
Libor Rates - 10/29/08
1 Month - 3.12%
3 Month - 3.42%
Commodities Closing Prices - 10/29/08
Gold - 753.3
Oil - 67.64
Natural Gas - 6.54
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8990 on 10/29/08, as investors bought stocks again after yesterdays historic move in the stock market, until General Electric GE came out with bad news on 2009 earnings with 5 minutes left to go in the trading day. This sent stocks down! The Stock Market Futures were down slightly this morning, The Dow Jones futures were actually down 60 points until the new libor rates were set. The Markets rallied up and down all day leading up to the Fed Rate Cut Decision. After stocks fell on the news of the rate cut, the stock market began to take off to the upside at 3:15pm Est. time. Apple ( AAPL ) was strong all day up more then 7% for most of the day. A key Down Jones component, General Motors ( GM ), came out with several pieces of news helping their stock price to rise. Will the stock market go up tomorrow? Most guests on CNBC think this rally has legs, especially Art Cashin, floor trader on the NYSE. . The key point to note is that usually on a big stock move like yesterday you would see some kind of correction. The GE news on their profitability with 5 minutes to go caused the Dow Jones to fall over 250 points but we did not have a huge red day. GE stock is now trading at $19 per share after falling.
Todays Biggest Stock Market Gainers
Las Vegas Sands ( LVS ) was a huge gainer today on the MGM Mirage earnings news. LVS was up over 100% today at one point and appears to still be strong despite the end of the day sell off. LVS hit a high of $10.97 before going under $9 right before the close. Watch this stock tomorrow 10/29/08! Over 50 million shares traded hands so this is a day traders delight!
Potash ( POT ) had strength all day long and that stock broke two resistance levels, $72 and $82, all in one day. I think Potash is ready to move higher and the bottom could be in finally.

Bill Gross CNBC 10/29/08 - Comments on Fed Rate Cut
Bill Gross was on CNBC 10/29/08 giving his comments on the Fed rate cut decision.
I Heard just about what I expected....downside risks to growth remain suggestesting that rates will go lower or stay here for an extended period of time.
I noticed in the Fed Statement that external demand ( meaning exports ) has weakened meaning the whole world has a problem right now.

Charlie Gasparino CNBC ABK, MBI 10/29/08
Charlie Gasparino has just come on CNBC today, 10/29/08, and told viewers that the Eric Dinallo and the Treasury are meeting to discuss Ambac ( ABK ) and MBIA ( MBI ) for a possible coverage in the Tarp program.
If the treasury provides capital into these bond insurers, their rating could get lifted higher. This would be huge for both ABK and MBI.
Both stocks are surging on this news, ABK is 2.83 and MBI is 8.36.

Trading Las Vegas Sands ( LVS ) 10/29/08? LVS Analysis
Las Vegas Sands ( LVS ) is one of the hottest stocks on the NYSE today and in the over all stock market. MGM Mirage set the tone with their earnings this morning and LVS has been spiking on higher volume off its low from yesterday.
Day Trading Las Vegas Sands ( LVS ) - October 29th, 2008.
As I write this blog, LVS just hit $7.99 up around 60%. There is support around $7.30...and then $6.70. A break below $6.70 would be bearish in my opinion and i'd look to reload at $6. If Las Vegas Sands can close over $8 today, I think it could retest $9 and above at its 10 day moving average.
Be careful though, we are in a volatile bear market so use your stops and be disciplined!
Here is a chart of LVS.

Dow Jones Open - Stock Market 10/29/08 - Opening Prices
The Dow Jones and the Stock Market are opening up lower today, 10/29/08. The Dow Jones opened up around 9000 and is trading in a range between 8950 - 9100. All eyes are on the Fed rate cut decision this afternoon. The Nasdaq is down 13 points today, October 29th, but Apple ( AAPL ) is bucking the trend after positive comments from Jim Cramer last night on Mad Money. Jim Cramer thinks Apple is cheap at these levels and shares of AAPL can be used to gauge how healthy the stock market is. Apple stock price is $104 per share.

Art Cashin CNBC 10/29/08 - Bottom Call, Yen Comments
Art Cashin was on CNBC 10/29/09 and he had these comments to say:
Tuesday the Yen skyrocketed and you had the g7 intervention which crushed the carry trade, we then had selling everywhere.
When the Yen eased it started a rally, everyone waited to see if the last hour sellers would show up, they didn't show, it sparked a huge rally.
This afternoon, a 50 point rate cut is priced into the market and we are hoping to hear the credit markets are easing from the Federal Reserve. If we get a .25 cut, you would see a sell off....but then again the market might say, wait a minute, things might not be so bad if they only cut .25 and they might rally it.
Monday we retested the lows and rallied Tuesday....this rally might actually have legs and you might be able to start buying the dips, we'll have to wait and see.
I think this bottom is a temporary bottom, not the final bottom, but we might rally into the end of the year but in 2009 we should get the real bottom.

10/29/08 Dow Futures - Nikkei Stock Market
This morning, 10/29/08, the Asian stock markets are ripping higher following the US markets earlier in the day. The Nikkei 225 index is up another 551 points at the open breaking back up through the 8000 level at 8173. Factory orders were up 1.5% vs down 3.5% last month and this is adding some lift to the Asian markets. Don't expect this to be sustained by next month however.
The Dow Jones futures are down 57 points while the Nasdaq futures are 13 points lower. Stay updated on the lastest stock market updates by going to my home page.

Dow Jones Close 10/28/08 - Stock Market Closing Prices and Stock Rally
Stock Market Closing Prices - 10/28/08
Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DJIA ) Close - 9066 Up 890
Nasdaq Stock Market Close - 1650 Up 144
S&P 500 Close - 940 Up 91
Libor Rates - 10/28/08
1 Month - 3.17%
3 Month - 3.47%
Commodities Closing Prices - 10/28/08
Gold - 749
Oil - 64.40
Natural Gas - 6.25
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9066 on 10/28/08, as investors bought stocks following the buying that took place in the Asian stock markets overnight in the Nikkei and the Hang Seng. The Stock Market Futures were up slightly this morning and the Dow was up 220 at the open at one point today. From about 10am to 11am the stock markets gave back all their gains. From 11am on it was all up hill with the Dow Jones up 465 points by 3:00pm and 600 points by 3:30pm est. I've been waiting for the QQQQ to break $30.25 for a few days and it finally happened this afternoon. Breaking $30.25 is very important because we are finally seeing higher highs and not lower highs. This is what technical traders want to see in order to get bullish. It also means you are breaking a trend and potentially a bottom could be forming for the Nasdaq. When $30.25 was broken, stocks exploded to the upside this afternoon. This is good for stocks like RIMM, AAPL, GOOG, AMZN, MSFT. Jim Cramer also had some bullish comments during the trading session today. Stock exploded higher into the close because of a lack of selling vs a lot of buying. Looks like a short squeeze to me but we will have to see what tomorrow brings.
Dow Jones ( DJIA ) Technical Analysis
The Dow Jones is closing up over that resistance area of 8700 and 9000 so look for a retest of 9200 tomorrow, that will be key! Keep in mind, the Jobs number comes out November 7th and its going to be ugly. I will be selling any strength I get up until that meeting.

Jim Cramer CNBC 10/28/08 - Bullish on the Market
Today, 10/28/08, Jim Cramer was on CNBC's Stop Trading segment. Jim Cramer thinks the market is going to be up substantially today. And it is just that, the stock market is riping higher as he is talking.
Jim Cramer said he thinks NYX has been beaten down so much, even that stock will see a bounce. He called the NYX fall, " an amazing fall."
Jim said that he didn't feel that the stock markets should have fell into the close yesterday and we are playing a little catch up today. Mutual Funds are marking stocks up for the end of the month. He also stated that the Verizon ( VZ ) news was great yesterday 10/27/08, as well as the Boeing ( BA ) news. Jim is bullish on stocks in the short term and he will probably mention this on Mad Money tonight.

Jobs Report 11/07/08 - Unemployment Rate for October
When are the next Jobs number and Unemployment rate data going to be released? The answer is Friday, November 7th, 2008. Mark this date on your calendars because this Jobs report and Unemployment rate number are going to be ugly. The question is, when will the markets start pricing in this data or is it already priced in? In September we saw the United States lose 159,000 jobs with the unemployment rate spiking to 6.1%. Stocks plunged on this news and we started a steep decline.
Some analysts estimate that the employment number is going to be -200,000+ jobs lost and the unemployment rate could hit 6.5% or higher. If the data we get on 11/07/08 is really bad, you could see massive panic and another downturn. Donald Trump thinks we are going into the second Depression.

Converted Organics Inc. "The Home Depot(R) opportunity represents a tremendous chance to expand the availability of high-quality organic fertilizer to consumers," said Edward J. Gildea, President of Converted Organics. "That The Home Depot(R) would agree to carry our Lawn and Turf fertilizer is a significant event for Converted Organics. We are completing the steps necessary to enable our product to be carried in 64 stores in the northeast, and we expect to receive a completed order for product in January of 2009. We are committed to ensuring that this is the beginning of a long-term relationship with The Home Depot(R)."

Dow Jones Open 10/28/08 - Stock Market Update
This morning, 10/28/08, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DJIA ) opened just north of 8300 and has extended its gains toward 8500. This happened after last nights Asian Market surge lifting the futures markets up. The Dow Jones is currently at 8442 up 266
General Motors ( GM ) is up 9% to $5.95 and ExxonMobile ( XOM ) is up nearly 5% to $69.50. These two stocks are big Dow Jones components.
Keep in mind, we have a Fed Meeting today and I expect them to cut by a half of a point.
WOW....as I am writing, consumer confidence is 38.0 in October compared to 61.4 in September. This number has hit the stock market slightly but it appears we are going back up. That is one ugly number! Healthsouth ( HLS ) appears to be the biggest gainer and the hottest stock today after the company came out and reaffirmed earnings guidance.
I will continue to watch the QQQQ to see if it can break $30.25 today....this would be very bullish for the Nasdaq.

Art Cashin CNBC 10/28/08 - Rally for Stocks? Capitulation
Art Cashin CNBC - 10/28/08
Art Cashing was on cnbc today, October 28th, 2008 and he has these things to say, and it almost sounded like he will soon be giving in if we can stage a little rally today. There is a feeling down here on the floor that there is about to happen whether its to the upside or downside, we don't know yet. Everything that happened recently as far as capitulation happened in other continents - if we could have only done it here in the US markets it would been so easy, you get the huge sell off and then you back up the truck. This rally could hold, however but it would just be so simple to get capitulation over with.
The thing that has been denying the big sell off I have been expecting is the fact that its to late to sell, people don't react to the big sell offs anymore. I think at this time, You need an event to happen, something major to get forced selling where everyone throws in the towel...whether we get that or not...we'll have to see.

The Dow Jones futures in pre market are Up 140 points, Nasdaq futures Up 30 points, and the S&P 500 futures are Up 20 points.
The stock market is headed for a great open today but the question is, how long will it last? We really tanked in the last five minutes yesterday, 10/27/08, and the futures aren't reflecting what the Nikkei and the Hang Send did last night just yet. Keep an eye on the QQQQ, if we break out through $30.25 I think these markets will soar! It will be the first time the QQQQ puts in a new high for the past week. The QQQQ is basically buying the Nasdaq 100 in a stock.
Asian Markets - European Markets 10/28/08
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 14.4 percent last night, its biggest gain in 11 years -- to 12,596.29, a day after plunging more than 12 percent. South Korea's Kospi jumped 5.6 percent to 999.16.
Japan's Nikkei 225 index spiked 459.02 points, or 6.4 percent, to 7,621.92 after it failed early below 7,000 at one point. Most European market were about around 4% each.
Events Today: Today we have an FOMC meeting at 2:15pm Est. The Federal Reserve decides whether or not to cut interest rates.

Dow Jones Close 10/27/08 - Stock Market Closing Prices, Libor Rates, Oil, Gold
Stock Market Closing Prices - 10/27/08
Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DJIA ) Close - 8176 - Down 203

S&P 500 Close - 849 - Down 28

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8176, down 203, on 10/27/08, as investors dealt with another Asian stock market crash overnight by the Nikkei and the Hang Seng. The Stock
Market Futures were down big this morning, The Dow Jones futures were actually down 350 at one point but Bill Gross came on CNBC and told viewers that Libor rates will soon fall. The
Markets rallied today from 12-2pm with the Dow Jones up 220 points at one point. This all changed in a vicious sell off from 2pm - 3pm Eastern time followed by another sell off with a few minutes left in the trading day. There is been no bad news out, just a lack of buyers and a lot of sellers. Be very careful, we closed below a key technical level on the Dow today as I was explaining last week. All eyes will be back on the Nikkei and Hang Seng tonight as those markets react to our trading.
Cannon slashed profit estimates last night in Asia by 25% and more selling could hit those stock markets overnight which would effect our stock markets for Tuesday, 10/28/08. Will stocks go up tomorrow? Something tells me the Asian markets will rebound tonight and that could send our stock markets up alot higher for Tuesday 10/28/08. Be careful though, we have a Fed Interest Rate decision tomorrow and I believe a half point rate cut is already priced into stocks right now. We get the decision at 2:15pm est. Be sure to check out my blog later tonight for a futures update.

Futures aren't telling us the whole story....the down limit was deceptive Friday. It was like a vaccum, sellers sold quick after seeing asian markets and there were no buyers.
Pre Market trading is a little crazy today, I wish we could see a little more panic this morning.
I think the end to this stock market crash is near, but i'd like to see panic and I don't like to bottom in November so hopefully we can get this taken care of soon.
The Stock Market futures are bouncing off their lows this morning after Bill Gross Spoke on CNBC.

Treasury announces rate today....2.88% No way Libor can stay at 3.5% when Government is buying at 2.88% Expect Libor to go down.
Libor rates will come down soon because of the Fed commercial paper program....Treasury programs kicking in this week will loosen credit markets.
Stocks and Oil are going down because of this massive deleveraging.

Chesapeake ( CHK ) Analysis 10/27/08 - Technical Analysis
Chesapeake Energy ( CHK ) Technical Analysis for 10/27/08 - October 27th, 2008
Chesapeake Energy CHK - Support and Resistance Levels
Chesapeake Energy ( CHK ) has been trending along with its 10 day moving average...this is a bullish sign for recovery. I am playing it this way...CHK has support at $17.50...any close below this and I am out of CHK stock....now that it is trending over $20 you could even use that price as a stop....resistance is at $25...when CHK closes over $25 I think you could test the 50 day moving average which is at $35 right now but will come down lower as time passes. Use $20 & $25 as your trading range.

Baidu.com ( BIDU ) technical analysis for 10/27/08 - October 27th, 2008
Bidu Support and Resistance Levels
Bidu reported good earnings last week but guidance was a little weak. Bidu has support at the $175 area from last year and Friday 10/24/08 but after that it would be $150 and then $134. Resistance is $200...when this moves back over $200 I will be a buyer again....but with a tight stop! Baidu will really get cooking again with a close over $275. One of the most volatile stocks I swing trade is Baidu.com

RIMM Research in Motion Analysis for 10/27/08
RIMM Research in Motion Technical Analysis for 10/27/08
RIMM Support and Resistance Levels
Rimm appears to have finally have support from Friday October 24th, 2008 at the $40 level. I really don't see RIMM stock going much lower. If it does, Rimm will be getting buyout offers if you catch my drift! In the coming weeks it is possible for a retest of $40 if market conditions in the stock market deteriorate. RIMM is a great company with a great product...growth is slowing, but not this much. Yes, Apple ( AAPL ) is starting to eat their lunch with iPhone sales but there is plenty of business to go around. Having your stock go from $135 to $40 in 75 days,. well, this is what happens when every hedge fund on wall street owns your stock in a deleveraging period.
Resistance is at $46 and $50...when this stock turns it will be jaw dropping like a lot of other stocks out there. A close back over $70 and this stock will really get moving. RIMM is the ultimate day trading stock right now in my opinion.

Dow Jones Close 10/24/08 - Stock Market Closing Price, Vix
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was another roller coaster ride on Friday, 10/24/08, closing at 8378, Down 312 points. The morning started with traders and investors waking up to a " limit down " in the stock market futures due to the crash of Asian and European stock markets overnight. A limit down is a circuit breaker for when the markets plummets to unusual levels...they stop futures trading until the stock market opens. In this case, it was 5% down for pre market. Everyone thought when the stock market opened at 9:30am, the next limit down would be hit at 10% or 1100 points on the Dow Jones....keep in mind, these limit down figures were made several months ago when the stock market was much higher. 1100 points down on the Dow Jones would have been more like a 14% plunge.
So what happened at the open? Everyone was expecting total panic and selling but the buyers quickly came in and the markets rallied. The Dow has been trading in a range all day from 8275 to 8525. Many big traders are still calling for the capitulation we did not get Friday, to come Monday. Monday will most likely be one of the most crutial days to the stock market yet....and it will start with what the Asian markets do on Sunday Night 10/26/08. I will be posting a blog during Sunday Night Football on NBC, so make sure you check back!
Dow Jones Technical Analysis 10/24/08:
Ok, so today the Dow Jones made a low this morning of 8187 but it has tested that 8200 level several times and it has held. Today is the first time i've actually seen panic buying set in for awhile. When we did not get the big plunge most people were expecting, buyers, whether they were short sellers covering their positions, were really stepping over each other to buy. All day the markets have been really twitchy to the upside....almost like the markets are a coiled spring ready to rocket higher. Your resistance on the Dow Jones is 8700, if we can close above that and stay up there for a few days, we could indeed rocket higher next week. However, there are some key events next week to watch. They are noted below.
Economic Data for next week:
Consumer Confidence - 10/28/08 10am
Federal Reserve FOMC Statement - 10/29/08 2:15pm
Jobless Claims - 10/30 8:30am

Art Cashin 10/24/08 - Sign of a Bottom Capitulation
Art Cashin is a floor trader in the NYSE and is one of the best market direction predictors we have. His predictions are incredible.
So with the markets crashing this morning Art Cashin calmly came on CNBC and gave his predictions:
Art Cashin has been calling for this ugly capitulation move all week when the market failed to move higher when the Dow was trading above 9000 this week. Art says if this downturn happens his way, we will see a huge move down today followed by a jaw dropping rally that could last many months. He says it could all be taken care of today but the selling could last into Monday, 10/27/08. Art Cashin says this will be a move in the stock market we will be talking about for a long time.
What do to? Put in " silly bids"
Art says if you like a stock at $20.....put in limit orders for $11 and $13...and maybe even $8....sell puts, atleast you will get paid to lose money.

Stock Market 10/24/08 - Dow Jones Futures October 24th, 2008
10/24/08 Pre Market Trading Report:
Today, October 24th, 2008, we have a bit of a problem in the stock market today regarding the futures. There has been some huge losses in the Asian markets as you will see below and this has caused the Dow futures to be down over 550 and the SP 500 futures to be down over 60 points. The futures have been frozen unless they go up. Known as a limit down, meaning the circuit breaker has been hit because of the steep decline. The stock market futures cannot go any lower in pre market, but it can at the open. The futures can go higher if they want to. This could get interesting today!
Asian Markets - European Markets
The increasingly grim outlook convinced investors that the world economy is headed for a long and severe downturn.
Japan's Nikkei stock market fell 9.60 percent. Britain's FTSE 100 was down 5.95 percent, Germany's DAX index was down 9.38 percent, and France's CAC-40 was down 7.35 percent
Stocks to Watch today:
The stocks that short the overall stock market are up huge in pre market trading. Those would be QID, SRS, SKF, DUG.
RIMM is currently at $42.50 - Apple ( AAPL ) is looking to open at $90 - Google ( GOOG ) $323

Carter Worth has come back on CNBC today - 10/23/08 after I wrote about him earlier in the

Carter continues to make the case that you should take a long position in these markets.
"When you come in during the morning and feel a little sick...thats a good feeling because it means we are starting to form a bottom.
Force yourself to Sell extreme strength, Buy extreme weakness....we know about all the bad news out there and we are investing on the long side now.
Our bet: It is better to be buying rather then selling right now

Dow Jones Close 10/23/08 - Dow Jones Analysis, Vix
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was a roller coaster ride Thursday, 10/23/08, closing at 8692, UP 174 points. The stock market volatility was at its highest today as the Dow Jones was up around 220 points in the morning only to do a 360 turnaround to down 200 in the afternoon. That was a 400 point swing! At about 3pm eastern time stocks reversed once again and the Dow Jones rallied into the close. There was a rumor on the NYSE floor and from trading desks that the White House race between McCain and Obama has tightened, CNBC is reporting. The Nasdaq remained down 12 with the technology sector staying weak but reversing off the lows. Key stocks reversing on the Nasdaq were the four horseman, Apple (AAPL ), Google ( GOOG ), Amazon.com ( AMZN ), and Research in Motion ( RIMM ). RIMM went from $44 to $46.40 and I actually caught that ride upward and am now back into cash going into tomorrow. RIMM to me is very attractive under $45 per share.
Dow Jones Technical Analysis - 10/23/08
The Dow Jones was up around 200 points this morning....just giving that 8700 level a retest from yesterday as I was talking about. The Dow rejected that level and started to head
lower but has bounced off 8243 this afternoon. If we break through that on 10/24/08 you can pretty much bet we retest 8000 again. Remember the 10/10/08 intraday low was 7773 so if we break through Dow 8000 that level would be next support. If you are a long term investor riding this stock market out and we close below 7773....i'd suggest not looking at the stock market for several days. On a brighter note....we closed strong today back up near 8700. If we can close back over 8700 and really build a base there, eventually moving toward 9000, a case could be made that today's retest of the lows was successful....then we could actually start to move higher again. I almost forget what a rally feels like. I'm not talking about
these big moves higher...I'm talking about a long, slow, sustainable rally where the
volatility is low but we move up 50-100 points everyday....that is what we need right now to bring confidence back to the stock market. Don't forget Carter Worth's Bottom Call! Carter Worth has been spot on lately.
Jim Cramer on the Solar Stocks
Jim Cramer came on CNBC this afternoon and stated that he cannot own any of the solar stocks right now....he even called First solar ( FSLR ), Fourth Solar. Jim Cramer says stay away from Solar!!!
Volatility Index ( VIX ) - 10/23/08
The Vix spiked to around 79 today until 3pm hit and the market reversed to move higher. Since that time it hit 73...so a six point move. At noon the Vix was 65 and moved 14 points up to that 79 level. I say tomorrow we go into the 80's for sure. The Vix closed today at 69.50

QQQQ Analysis - 10/23/08 - Nasdaq
The QQQQ is basically buying the Nasdaq.....it performs like the Nasdaq 100 in the form of an ETF. I watch this stock all day to get my hint as to where the stock markets are headed.
QQQQ Analysis - Thursday, 10/23/08
Today we have made a lot of $29.87...higher then the previous three lows over the past several weeks. Yesterday we made a low of $29.71. This is a level you will want to watch closely on the QQQQ. If we break through this anytime, look for $29.38 and $29.25 to be tested which were the prior two lows.
If all of those support levels are broken, we could be in for the next leg down....there will be major volatility in the markets.

Visa ( V ) Analysis 10/23/08 - Visa Technical Analysis
The following is technical analysis for Visa ( V ) stock for 10/23/08.
Visa ( V ) Technical Analysis:
Visa continues to be weak as we go into this recession period....V has failed to close above its 10 day moving average for awhile now. Support is at $47.50 and if that doesn't hold you could test $45 and below. I am waiting for a new low tag to form before I get long this stock. There is resistance in the low $50's up until $56......then its smooth sailing until $62.
If you are looking to take a long position...rather then trying to catch the bottom...buy V when it breaks through the highs of the day after 9:45am est, then set a stop for that high of the day. Usually when stocks break the HOD, it is for a good reason, there is buy interest. To many traders get caught trying to buy on dips only for the stock to trade lower......by the time it comes back to where you bought the stock at you are more inclined to sell into the strength, missing the move higher.

Dow Jones Close 10/22/08 - Dow Jones Analysis - Vix
The Dow Jones Industrial Average took a beating today, 10/22/08, closing at 8520, down 513 points. It is important to note that todays sell-off didn't really have anything to do with the credit markets but rather a lack of buyers and redemptions from hegde funds and mutual funds. Funds are still being forced to liquidate their holdings in order to raise cash. There are also fears of how bad this recession will be.
Dow Jones Technical Analysis:
The Dow Jones DJIA broke a key technical support level of 8700 today after a big fight earlier in the day. The fact that we broke this key support level will bring additional selling pressure from technical traders. Meanwhile...if we take out 8700 on the upside we will move a lot higher. Your next levels are 8,000 and the intrday low of 7773 we hit on Friday October 10th.
Volatility Index ( VIX )
The Vix spiked again today hitting over 72 at one point....can you believe the VIX is higher then the price of Oil? I can't!! Watch this Vix closely as we topped out at around 78 last week...after several calm days the volatility seems to be coming back.
Earnings I will be Watching Tonight:

Stock Market 10/22/08 - Pre Market Trading - Nikkei, Asian Markets Fall
Wednesday, 10/22/08 - Dow Jones closed at 9033 on 10/21/08
Today the stock market is set to open a lot lower thanks to the fall of the Asian markets overnight. The Dow Jones futures are looking down 230 points in pre market. Nasdaq futures are looking down 20.
Overnight, Asian markets fell sharply lower Wednesday, with Tokyo's Nikkei index tumbling nearly 7 percent, amid spreading pessimism over corporate earnings outlooks in the U.S. and at home. European markets also opened lower.
As credit markets show signs of improving, investors are turning their attention to dismal forecasts from major U.S. companies and Japanese media reports of disappointing sales and profit results — fears of a global recession are again here.
Stock to Watch 10/22/08
Apple ( AAPL ) - Apple came out with earnings last night and reported $1.26 per share vs $1.11 expected. Mac sales were a little light but the company sold around 6.8 million iphones for the quarter...an astonishing amount!! Looks like Apple will hit the 10 million iphone target everyone was worried about when the stock was at $160. After running to $104 in afterhours last night... Apple is set to open up pre market at $98.50. Please note, Guidance was horrible....probably the worst guidance i've seen Apple give since 2004.
VMware ( VMW ) - VMware reported better then expected earnings and that stock is set to open pre market at $21.50...this after trading around $23 last night. Keep an eye on that stock today.
SanDisk ( SNDK ) - Samsung is dropping their 5.9 billion dollar bid for Sandisk citing weak market conditions.
Boeing ( B ) just came out with earnings... .96eps vs .98eps
Merck ( MRK ) just came out with earnings.... .30eps vs .29eps

Will Jim Cramer Apologize to AIG Employees?
Should Jim Cramer Apologize to AIG employees for stating on Mad Money 10/16/08 that we should hound them in supermarkets and ball parks?
The CEO of AIG has written a letter to Jim Cramer asking for an apology.
From the Wall Street Journal Blog
Edward Liddy -
Dear Mr. Cramer,
I was deeply disappointed last Thursday when you urged your viewers to harass AIG employees, saying:
“We should hound them in the supermarket, we should hound them in the ball park, we should hound them everywhere they are. We should make fun of them and we should point fingers at them and we should tell them that you have no shame.”
Those comments are outrageous. I demand they be retracted and that you apologize to AIG’s employees. It is one thing to criticize the executive leadership of AIG - that’s fair commentary. But it is way out of bounds to incite people to confront and harass other AIG employees - hard-working, dedicated people who are running good businesses and are committed to our success. The employees of AIG did not cause this mess, but they are paying for it - in diminished 401K savings and in some job losses as we sell companies to repay the Federal loan. The irony is that AIG employees did not cause the problem, but they will solve it. For that they deserve our praise and our gratitude.
I await your prompt response.
Sincerely,
Edward M. Liddy

Pre Market Trading - Stock Market 10/20/08 - Libor Rates Declining
Today, 10/20/08, The stock market futures are pointing higher so far in pre market trading. Asian and Europe stock markets rose nicely last night. The Nikkei was up 3.6% and the Hang Send was up 5.3% last night in active stock trading.
Libor rates have been coming down a bit helping to boost the overseas markets. Even Europe opened a lot stronger last night. It look like it will be a strong day for the US stock markets. Oil is hitting $74 this morning , up $2 per barrel mounting talk that the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries ( OPEC ) will cut production at the end of this week in an attempt to shore up prices that have fallen by 50 percent in three months.
Stocks to Watch Today - Ambac ( ABK ) & Cit Group ( CIT )
These two stocks were very active on Friday and up huge. There is no reason to think that will let up today with a strong stock market. You could really see some nice gains in these stocks.

First Solar ( FSLR ) Technical Analysis - FSLR Stock Analysis
The following is technical analysis for the stock First Solar ( FSLR ) for 10/20/08.
Support and Resistance Levels - FSLR
First Solar FSLR stock has shown signs of recovering lately as it has trended over its 10 day moving average for several trading days now. This is a positive sign. FSLR has support around the $102.50 and 100.00 level. First Solar also has resistance around the $150 level as well as $160 area. I'd be very bullish on a close over $160. On the downside, the stock is trending well below the 50 and 200 day moving averages.
Earnings will be a key catalyst as to where this stock heads next. FSLR earnings are expected 10/29/08.

ENER Analysis - Energy Conversion Devices Stock Technical Analysis
The following is Technical Analysis for Energy Conversion Devices ( ENER ) issued on 10/19/08.
Support and Resistance Levels - Energy Conversion Devices ( ENER )
Energy Conversion Devices ( ENER ) is a broken stock right now until is starts closing over moving averages such as the 10, 50, and 200 Day. Ener has support at around $34 and $29.00. Resistance is at $46.40, $49 and $50.
Remember when ENER first popped on its first quarter of reporting earnings in history back in May? ENER opened up around $42....his $41...and then took off to hit a high of $48. Also bouncing off $46.40 several times before breaking $50. A close over $50 again would be a very bullish indicator and in my opinion ENER would be back in play.
