The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10329 on 12/18/09, as the stock market traded flat with the exception of the technology sector. The Dow Jones Futures began the day higher by around 40 points as companies such as Research in Motion ( RIMM ) and Oracle ( ORCL ) blew away Wall Street earnings expectations.

Things will start to wind down as far as volume in the stock market goes as we approach the end of the year. We will still a sleuth of economic data however.

Bank of America is back above $15 on Friday going into the close probably due to the strength in Citi which is due to some forced buying. Keep an eye on the 10 & 50 day moving averages next week. If BAC closes back over the 10 day located at $15.35, it could make a run at the 50 day located at $15.96. A close above the 50 day moving average would cause me to buy as well as many other traders who have been waiting patiently on the sidelines.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) continues to consolidate around the 10 & 50 day moving averages. After RIMM's blowout quarter last night, I now expect buyers to flood back into Apple in advance of their earnings due out mid January 2010. Watch $200 which is now a key resistance level. A close back above $200 would be bullish and I believe AAPL stock would retest the highs around $208-$209. Keep your stop tight at $190.

Research In Motion Ltd. (RIMM) reported a powerful earnings report last night and upped guidance for the current quarter. RIMM is now trading over all three major moving averages and if the stock can remain above $69, the chance of another up move is large. The day after the last earnings report, RIMM tanked with the daily high being $71.42. The low was $68.47. A close over $71.42 would set up a move toward the $80's. A close below $67.82 would be bearish and I'd look for a retest of $65. Watch $71.42!

It seems as though everyone is watching Libor rates these days. Today's Libor Rates for 12/18/09 are: 1 Month Libor Rate - 0.232% & 3 Month Libor Rate - 0.251%. The overnight Libor rate is 0.179%. As you can see, Libor Rates changed today, December 18, 2009. While the overnight libor rate stayed the same, the 1 & 3 month libor rates dropped.
