Dow Jones Analysis 2/13/09 Stock Market Analysis
The following is Technical Analysis for the Dow Jones ( DJIA ) for 2/13/09Dow Jones Support & Resistance Levels - February 13, 2009
Resistance Levels: 8000, 8100, 8376, 8404, 8500
Support Levels: 7845, 7774, 7693, 7500

The Dow Jones bounced back today but still trends under the 10 day moving average. This has been an area that if closed above, some momentum can start to build. A close back over 8000 would be bullish but to get me very bullish we need to get back over 8400-8500. The Hogan Bottom of 7773 seems to be solid right now...we managed to close over this level today.

The following is Technical Analysis for the Nasdaq ( NAS ) for 2/13/09Nasdaq Support & Resistance Levels - February 13, 2009
Resistance Levels: 1600, 1665
The Nasdaq briefly traded under 1500 this afternoon but then reversed and closed back over the 10 and 50 day moving averages. As you can see, the Nasdaq has held up strong through this latest sell off and is the first to rally when we get good news. We will have to see if we can close above these two averages tomorrow as we could retest 1600 soon, or go back to 1500. We are right in the middle of the trading range and these moving averages are the only support. Pullbacks under 1500 have been bought heavily! For More Technical Analysis - Go Here

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 7933 on 2/12/09, as the stock market fell because of a hang over from Timothy Geithner's failed bank rescue plan which was released on Tuesday. The Dow Jones Futures started the day very weak and was down over 220 points by 3pm today. News was released at 3pm by Reuters stating that Obama is looking into a Housing Plan that would subsidize the mortgage payment of a US home owner after the new home value is set. Details are still unclear but this news has the market reversing off the lows today. Hogan's Bottom low of 7773 was broken intra day but we managed to close over this level. It appears the shorts covered at the close causing the stock market to rebound all the way back!
Stocks on the move today: Palm ( PALM ) was very strong today and it is breaking out to a new 52 week high as well as a new 1 1/2 year high. PALM looks poised to rip into the $10's as their new smart phone is coming. Palm is one of the hottest stocks in 2009 so far.

Hogan Bottom 2/12/09 February 12, 2009
Today, 2/12/09, the Dow Jones is testing the Hogan Bottom at 7773.81 and it has held. The Dow Jones just hit 7774.98 and is now trying to bounce.
Why is the stock market going down today?
We are basically testing the lower end of the recent range due to the uncertainty on the banking plan by Timothy Geithner. On Tuesday, we fell 381 on the Dow Jones and the overall stock markets crashed because of the banking plan failure. Until we get some clarity of an actual plan instead of stated goals which we already know about, stocks are vulnerable. I don't expect this for weeks!
As I write this, the Hogan Bottom has been violated. If we close below the Hogan Bottom, the next support level is 7500. The Nasdaq is holding up well, over 1500 , but we all know this can change fast!
