The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10618 on 1/8/10, as the stock market traded flat after a worse then expected jobs report. The jobs report showed that we lost 85,000 jobs in the month of December. The Dow Jones traded down 50 points at one point during the day but bounced back as we headed into the close. On Monday, Alcoa, Inc. (AA) will kick off earnings season.

Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (CYCC) continues the break out in pre market after releasing positive drug data Thursday. There is a lot of resistance in the mid to high $3's so I feel the big gains are made for now. If CYCC would break $4.10, it could spark another short covering rally. Support is located down at $2.50-$2.60 and I'd expect that area to hold on a closing basis for now.

The BDI data is critical for how the DryBulk Shipping Stocks such as DryShips Inc ( DRYS ), Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd (EXM), Diana Shipping Inc ( DSX ), Genco Shipping & Trading Limited ( GNK ), TBS International Limited ( TBSI ), Navios Maritime ( NM ), Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. ( EGLE ), Paragon Shipping Inc. ( PRGN ), Star Bulk Carriers Corp. ( SBLK ), and OceanFreight Inc ( OCNF ) will trade during the day. It seems as though everyone is watching Libor rates these days. Today's Libor Rates for 1/8/10 are: 1 Month Libor Rate - 0.233% & 3 Month Libor Rate - 0.251%. The overnight Libor rate is 0.173%. As you can see, Libor Rates changed today, January 8, 2010. While the overnight libor rate went down, the 1 & 3 month libor rates went up.
