The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10067 on 1/29/10, as the stock market began the day much higher but then fell throughout the trading session. Technology stocks led the stock market lower as Microsoft Corp (MSFT) was very weak today.

The Dow Jones has support at 10,000 and the S&P broke down through 1080 once again. The next major support level on the S&P is located at 1040 as well as 1030. If the S&P 500 can somehow rally and close above 1100 again, it will send a new buy signal and I'd expect us to move even higher as shorts cover.

The BDI data is critical for how the DryBulk Shipping Stocks such as DryShips Inc ( DRYS ), Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd (EXM), Diana Shipping Inc ( DSX ), Genco Shipping & Trading Limited ( GNK ), TBS International Limited ( TBSI ), Navios Maritime ( NM ), Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. ( EGLE ), Paragon Shipping Inc. ( PRGN ), Star Bulk Carriers Corp. ( SBLK ), and OceanFreight Inc ( OCNF ) will trade during the day. As you probably know, the Dry Bulk Shipping index can tell you a lot about the state of the World Economy. When Bulk Shipping Rates are at all time highs, the World Economy is outstanding. Apple Inc. (AAPL) is trading back above $200 in pre market today. The stock closed below the 50 day moving average Thursday but continues to hold the $197.16 low from last Friday. If $197.16 is broken, the next support level to watch would be around $193. If Apple can hold here and somehow pop back above $210, I think it will race to new highs and continue the uptrend. The problem with this theory is that we are entering two of the worst months for Tech stocks. I own AAPL stock and will be looking to buy more.

It seems as though everyone is watching Libor rates these days. Today's Libor Rates for 1/29/10 are: 1 Month Libor Rate - 0.229% & 3 Month Libor Rate - 0.249%. The overnight Libor rate is 0.173%. As you can see, Libor Rates changed today, January 29, 2010. While the 1 & 3 month libor rates stayed the same, the overnight libor rate went up.
