Stocks to Watch - 4/21/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Financials: The Financial sector was hit hard as investors sold shares of Citigroup ( C ) and Bank of America ( BAC ) after B of A's earnings turned out to be from one time gains. On Friday, I said I am not buying Financial Bull 3x ( FAS ) above $9.00 when it was trading around $9.40 per share. In one trading session, FAS has come down $2.00 per share to trade around $7.40. FAS is now trading below the 10 day moving average which is very bearish and it looks like we may get a retest of the 50 day moving average of around $6.25. I will wait this out over the next few days. A lot will ride on the busy week of earnings reports ahead of us this week. The Financial Bear 3x ( FAZ ) is a great stock to trade on any stock market weakness.

Financials: Once again, I continue to watch the financials. Citigroup ( C ) was on fire for the 3rd straight trading session on Tuesday. Financial Bear 3X ( FAZ ) surged higher as the Financial Bull ( FAS ) ETF topped out in pre market over $10 per share.

Citigroup ( C ) Earnings April 17, 2009 - 8am EST

Financial Bull 3X ( FAS ) - Will be watching $7.80 support very closely Wednesday.
Wells Fargo ( WFC ) - $17.50 must hold on a closing basis, or more weakness will follow
Citigroup ( C ) - Watching $3.89 Support, if things get out of hand, $3.35 could be tested again.
Bank of America ( BAC ) - Needs to hold $10
General Electric ( GE ) - $12.50-$12.53 resistance failed twice, watching pullbacks to $11

Stock Above $2 I will be Watching - April 15, 2009

Dendreon ( DNDN ) - DNDN came out with positive trial data on Provenge, the prostate caner drug. If $16 holds and DNDN trades back over short term resistance of $18, I think it could go back into the $20's. This is a risky stock though! Check out what analysts are saying.

Agfeed Industries ( FEED ) - Not much happened with FEED on Tuesday but was up in a down market. FEED bounced off $3.00 and broke through the high of day on Tuesday afternoon. Last trade $3.40. The volume is still there, over 3.7 million shares traded with one hour left to go.

Sonic Corp. (SONC) - $10.15 Up 9.38% - This was probably the best time all year to release earnings afterhours - Sonic Reports Second Quarter Earnings.

Financials - The Bank Stocks continued their recent uptrend and are looking good from a technical basis. I will be watching the Financial Bull ( FAS ) stock as more buying could flow into the financials tomorrow. If the FAS stock starts to break down, you might want to switch back into the Financial Bear ( FAZ ). These two stocks are extremely volatile and you can make a living day trading these two stocks! Stocks to Watch - 3/23/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Financial Bear ( FAZ ) - FAZ was strong all day, just look at the 1 day chart! Money was flowing out of the financials which caused Financial Bull ( FAS ) stock to retrace. FAZ is the only stock I own right now and it was inching up in after market trading as news came out of the seizure of two big credit unions. The fact that all major averages closed weak on Friday point to a lower opening for Monday. On FAZ stock, I have a tight stop at $31 and will most likely switch back into FAS. Keep in mind, these are trading stocks....not so much buy and hold!

Pier 1 Imports ( PIR ) - $.30 Up 87.50% - PIR released earnings in after hours on Friday - Pier 1 could shut 80 stores as it posts losses.

Citigroup ( C ) - Should you buy Citigroup stock? If you are thinking about buying Citi on Monday, use a tight stop at $2.40. $2.40 was the low on Friday and is also a major support level. If $2.40 is broken things could get ugly! On the upside, if $2.82 is broken, C stock could be on the way back to $3.00

American International Group ( AIG ) - Do you buy AIG stock? - Personally, I wouldn't, there are much better stocks out there such as energy related stocks like EOG Resources ( EOG ), Chesapeake Energy ( CHK ), or Transocean ( RIG ). Natural Gas finally looks like it has bottomed so you might look at UNG stock. If you really want to buy AIG, use a tight stop at $1.20 or Friday's low of $1.06. On the upside, if $1.45 is broken ( Friday's High ) AIG could get a bounce.

Fannie Mae ( FNM ) & Freddie Mac ( FRE ) - FNM stock has support between $0.55 & $0.60, so if you really must buy FNM, I'd wait for this price. However, a break below $0.50 could get ugly! On FRE stock, it is the same game plan because both FRE and FNM have identical charts. Just remember, FRE and FNM are penny stocks for a reason!

Stock Market 10/24/08 - Dow Jones Futures October 24th, 2008

10/24/08 Pre Market Trading Report:

Today, October 24th, 2008, we have a bit of a problem in the stock market today regarding the futures. There has been some huge losses in the Asian markets as you will see below and this has caused the Dow futures to be down over 550 and the SP 500 futures to be down over 60 points. The futures have been frozen unless they go up. Known as a limit down, meaning the circuit breaker has been hit because of the steep decline. The stock market futures cannot go any lower in pre market, but it can at the open. The futures can go higher if they want to. This could get interesting today!

Asian Markets - European Markets

The increasingly grim outlook convinced investors that the world economy is headed for a long and severe downturn.
Japan's Nikkei stock market fell 9.60 percent. Britain's FTSE 100 was down 5.95 percent, Germany's DAX index was down 9.38 percent, and France's CAC-40 was down 7.35 percent
