The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9497 on 9/8/09, as the stock market inched higher for the second straight day. The Dow Jones Futures started the day up around 70 points but the stock market sold off throughout the day. In the final two hours of trading, the stock market got back most of the gains and closed strong. The main factor in today's rally was the fact that $1000 gold took most commodity stocks higher. Oil and Natural Gas Prices also went up nicely was well.

Solar Stocks: Solar stocks were on fire today as Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (ENER) was the talk of takeover chatter as well as Huge News out of First Solar, Inc. (FSLR). I think the Solar Stock bottom in finally in.

First Solar FSLR to Build China Solar Plant

September 8, 2009 - Huge News out of First Solar, Inc. (FSLR) just released about 20 minutes ago. Besides the fact that FSLR is back over the 10 day moving average today, shares are soaring on the following news. Another reason why technical analysis can tip you off on when to get back into a stock. I added to my long position today and am very happy and well positioned.


First Solar to Team With Ordos City on Major Solar Power Plant in China Desert

First Solar today announced a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Chinese government to build a 2 gigawatt solar power plant in Ordos City, Inner Mongolia, China.

Pursuant to the MOU, signed in the presence of Chairman Wu Bangguo of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, the solar project in Ordos will be built over a multi-year period. Phase 1 will be a 30 megawatt demonstration project that will begin construction by June 1, 2010 and be completed as soon thereafter as practicable. Phases 2, 3 and 4 will be 100 megawatts, 870 megawatts, and 1,000 megawatts. Phases 2 and 3 will be completed in 2014 and Phase 4 will be completed by 2019.

“This major commitment to solar power is a direct result of the progressive energy policies being adopted in China to create a sustainable, long-term market for solar and a low carbon future for China,” First Solar CEO Mike Ahearn said at the signing ceremony. “We’re proud to be announcing this precedent-setting project today. It represents an encouraging step forward toward the mass-scale deployment of solar power worldwide to help mitigate climate change concerns.”

The project will operate under a feed-in-tariff which will guarantee the pricing of electricity produced by the power plant over a long-term period. Full Article

Helicos BioSciences HLCS Stock Set to Jump

September 8, 2009 - Shares of Helicos BioSciences Corporation (HLCS) are set to pop this morning as the company has sold multiple HeliScope Sequencers to RIKEN Institute. HLCS stock is indicated to open up 12% to $2.80.

Helicos Sells Multiple HeliScope Sequencers to RIKEN Institute

Single Molecule Sequencing Technology Will Play Integral Role in Japan's National Sequencing Center

Helicos BioSciences Corporation (NASDAQ:HLCS) today announced that the RIKEN Yokohama Institute Omics Science Center (OSC) has agreed to purchase four Helicos(TM) Genetic Analysis Systems. The transaction represents the first multisystem sale of the Helicos system to a large genome center. Shipments are expected to take place in September, with one system remaining in Cambridge to be used in a scientific collaboration between the two parties that began last year.

RIKEN's OSC recently received funding from the Japanese government to assume the role of the country's primary national DNA sequencing center. As part of Japan's renowned RIKEN, the OSC has the unifying objective of developing a multi-purpose, large-scale analysis center to elucidate molecular networks in biological systems. A major component of the national project for the RIKEN OSC is the "Cell Innovation Project", which is aimed at understanding cell function at the molecular level using next-generation and single-molecule sequencing technologies. General Electric GE Stock Upgrade - September 2009

September 8, 2009 - Shares of General Electric Co. (GE) will be getting a nice bounce today after JP Morgan has upgraded the stock.

Price Target - $17

JP Morgan sees potential upside surprises and feels the risk reward at current levels is very attractive.

General Electric Co. (GE) has been fighting the 10 day moving average for several days last week but today the stock is set to open over this level. Keep an eye on the previous high of $14.88. When I see GE stock close over this level, I will jump in.

Stocks to Watch - 9/8/09 - Stock Market Ideas

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - AIG gapped into the $43's on Friday and then sold off throughout the day. The stock closed near support at $40. Aside from resistance at $41.15 from Friday, the next major resistance level is located at $43.75. Check out my AIG Technical Analysis

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Citigroup tested $5 on Friday but failed. A close back over $5 would get me to buy more stock. Check out my Citigroup Technical Analysis

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (JAZZ) - JAZZ exploded Friday after the company will be presenting in two upcoming conferences. I will be buying pullbacks to the 10 day moving average under $8 if I get the chance. On the upside, aside from the high of $10.24 on Friday, there is no major resistance until the high $11's to $12. If you are an active daytrader, JAZZ should always be on your watch list.

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - FAS broke above $70 on Friday which was another buy signal. Based on the stock market futures today, I expect FAS to gap up and possibly retest $74.29 on Tuesday. A close back above $74.29 would be very bullish and a retest of $80 is quite possible. I would only be trying to trade FAZ if FAS breaks back below $70. Check out my recent FAS Technical Analysis

Bank of America Corp ( BAC ) - Bank of America Corporation is retesting the 10 day moving average. Keep an eye on this level this week. Check out my BAC Technical Analysis

Freddie Mac (FRE) failed at the 10 day moving average on Friday after hitting $1.51 two days earlier. The 10 day moving average ( currently located at $2.04 ) will offer some resistance as will the $2.25 area. If FRE can close above $2.25, it has a strong shot at retesting the recent highs. As long as FRE stays below the 10 day moving average however, I do not like the stock. Most people feel as though FRE has no value so you have to be cautious when trading the stock. I would get back into the stock if it closed above $2.25 but keep a very tight stop loss order. For more Technical Analysis - Go Here

Fannie Mae (FNM) closed right at the 10 day moving average on Friday after hitting $1.26 two days prior. Resistance will be right at the 10 day moving average as well as $1.90. If FNM can break and close above $1.90, we could be looking at another retest of the highs. Current support is located at $1.70 and $1.50. Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS) broke above $15 on Friday after a guest on CNBC said they have a $26 price target on the stock. The next major resistance level I am watching is out for is $16.81 which was the high in Nov 2008. A close above that level would be very bullish. On Saturday, the FDA Set the Action Date of April 23, 2010 for Review of Pixantrone NDA. It appears CTIC did not get the Fast Track date of late December 2009 but this is still ok news. On Friday, CTIC plunged down to the $1.20 support level as this news was leaked. The $1.20 support level has been solid since May 2009 and this is a great area to add shares. On the upside, I will buy CTIC when it can break above the $1.56 high on Friday. I already have a buy alert set up! For More Technical Analysis - Go Here

Sirius XM Radio failed to close above $0.75 in August and pulled back to the $0.60 support level in September. As long as SIRI continues to close above $0.60, I like the stock. The 10 day moving average will now become a key resistance level as well as $0.70. I plan to buy SIRI as soon as it closes back over $0.70 because this to me would be a sign of a new breakout. Citigroup closed back the 10 day moving average on Friday and appears to be continuing the recent uptrend. I continue to buy pullbacks to the $4.48-$4.50 and will also buy a close back over $5. American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) continues the nice bounce off the recent $32.66 low. Resistance is Friday's high of $43.73 as well as $47.50. Support is located right at $40 and $37.50. If $37.50 is broken, I am looking to Buy AIG stock between $35-$36 for a trade. I would also be buying a close over $45 and more on a break above the August high of $55.90.
